Actually this comment from the article clears it up: Bummer isn't a control pitcher, he's a pure stuff pitcher. His stuff isn't working.

The sinker stuff is definitely interesting, but it doesn't seem like he's giving up a ton of hard contact. Walks are absolutely killing him - maybe the lack of confidence and early contact on his sinker is causing his control issues, but his slider also has been super inconsistent.

The people now complaining that we didn't keep Kimbrel are blowing my mind. Also yes Pollock and Hendriks look terrible but it's 17 games into the season. Take a breather.

In fairness I think that's the actual team BA for the Royals. This team is terrible.

Really a shame to give up 2 runs when he had shutout stuff.

Three sliders in a row was bold, especially with #3 on 3-2. But it worked! Has to suck when you can't trust the defense and need to strike everyone out.
