  1. Lol this is one of the most effective pitching patterns for a reason. All of these players know this. They've been seeing this pattern since high school. If they need a scouting report that says "pitchers are going to do what they've always done to you" then they shouldn't be in pro baseball.
  2. They're told to swing at everything because they'll all be strikes but actually they are balls well out of the zone?
  3. Velasquez also sucks. Let's not lose sight of that fact.
  4. Game plans don't say "swing at nearly everything out of the zone". That's what almost this entire lineup is doing. They don't take walks. It literally does not matter what the game plan is if you don't walk and swing at trash.
  5. I guarantee they already know. Even teams who are terrible at advance scouting have a pretty good idea. It's absolutely up to the players to perform. In your scenario, player talent takes a backseat to preparation and that's just not the case.
  6. Coaches don't get in the box to hit, players do. You don't think every single player in this lineup knows how they're going to be pitched? Of COURSE they do. It's on them to not swing at garbage. There's nothing a coach can do or say short of benching the entire roster to stop all of them from swinging at trash.
  7. No hitting coach is preaching to swing at garbage out of the zone and never take a walk. There is no coaching or approach on earth that would help players doing this. This is all on the players.
  8. Vaughn in this right field is gonna be rough
  9. What else you want him to do? Team is playing like shit. Probably as bored watching this as we are. Gotta entertain himself somehow.
  10. Robert having some issues right now
  11. I dunno man. I'm trying to hold onto that, but they're close to 40 games already. Starting to think this is what they are.
  12. It was a bad setup and throw, but yeah. Would've taken a great throw. Still got to give yourself a chance.
  13. Bad setup and throw by Robert.
  14. Well, that's kinda new.
  15. An endless supply of Eloys to replace each one that got hurt
  16. My only hope with him is that lots of really good players are struggling mightily still, so maybe he'll turn it around.
  17. If the Sox had a team full of guys like Moncada they'd score 5 runs a game
  18. Letting pitchers get you out by swinging at garbage is dumb baseball. I really can't stand watching dumb baseball.
  19. That was like a 7 pitch at-bat and ZERO were actually strikes.
  20. Can they PLEASE stop swinging at balls outside and almost in the dirt?
  21. Yeah I wouldn't give too much weight to this start for Lucas. He's a solid #1 starter easy. It just feels like 2 runs is insurmountable to this offense.
  22. Lol now the ump is calling every borderline pitch
