  1. They're going to call a late slide like that every time. He wasn't able to hold onto the bag after the slide.
  2. Dude has had negative value for like 6 straight seasons and is still right at 100 bWAR. Unreal how good he was in his prime. Also never saw a pitcher get ruined as hard as quickly as Brad Lidge after that bomb Pujols hit in 05.
  3. Some nice work by Olson. Had the Padres really off balance.
  4. Good move getting Kopech out. Not the time to worry about working out of this. Let a minor leaguer come in and take some lumps. Get Kopech back out there next inning.
  5. Yeah that's why Sheets shouldn't play RF. Thank goodness Pollock is here.
  6. Kopech really off with his command right now
  7. Not sure why you're being so hostile, but yes. There's potentially a book on Sheets now. We'll see if he can adjust.
  8. He will, but I want to see if there's a book on how to pitch him now (seems like there is).
  9. I noticed this too, and called it out a few games ago. Looks like the book is out on him.
  10. At this point put Vaughn in RF, Burger at 2B, Sheets DH, Leury/Engel IF/OF subs and roll with it. At least it'll be interesting and/or hilarious. Watching Harrison hit .220 with an average 65 mph exit velocity will not be.
  11. Sheets pounding the ball into the ground today. I think we're seeing how they're going to attack him.
  12. Bellinger was HORRIBLE last year. One of the worst players in baseball. It makes some sense that LA would look to swap his $16m for Kimbrel's. Their outfield is then likely Taylor/Betts/Pollock. From the Sox perspective, if Bellinger sucks again, he's arb eligible after this year so you just don't offer. If he's good, they can keep him until 2024. This makes too much sense to me, so it cannot possibly be true.
  13. Seems like no one is going to 4 years with Conforto, otherwise he'd have signed elsewhere already. 4/80 <-> 4/100 seems like a fine place to settle, though. I also don't get that, unless he has serious injury or productivity falloff concerns. He'd be 32 at the end of that deal, so age shouldn't be a concern.
  14. The biggest miss of their rebuild, to me. Harper might have said no thanks immediately, so maybe there was no shot and Machado was the only option, but Harper was a perfect fit.
  15. Sounds like the market is too hot for Manaea/Montas. Doubt the Sox have the pieces for either now. Wouldn't mind Meadows, either, especially if Kimbrel is in that deal, but Meadows isn't good defensively.
  16. He's a mediocre to bad left fielder defensively. Not a good fit for RF.
  17. Especially if I were making $20+ million a year. I'd wrap myself in the finest bubble wrap money can buy!
  18. Olson was actually better than Freeman last year, and he's in his prime. This is a good deal for the Braves, assuming Olson keeps it up. That's a lot of prospect capital to give up when Freeman only cost money, though.
  19. I agree, though I'm also fine with Conforto.
  20. And they got one. LA sees the writing on the wall now, post title.
  21. I assume the intent is for Vaughn to start splitting time with Abreu this season at 1B/DH, taking over after Abreu is done this year. I really don't think they have the money to sign him for 2023, unless he takes a sweetheart retirement tour deal at near minimum salary.
  22. Seems like he's not guilty of anything beyond being a complete idiot. I suppose that's the best outcome for him, but I'm not sure I would touch someone who at best is stupid enough to get involved with a crazy woman. Plenty of athletes sleep around and don't ever have a problem like this.
