MLB Draft Projections
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 15, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) Eh, maybe it's me being greedy but I'd hope for more out of our first selection, #8 overall, than a protypical #2 hitter. Put it this way -- if everything goes right does his skill set strike you as someone you'd expect to be a perennial all-star? I imagine him as a slightly above average shortstop. Never at the top of the league at his position; but towards the middle of the pack. Not bad for the 20th overall selection, but I'd rather aim higher. Justin Smoak is someone, if everything goes right, you could help build a franchise around. No question which player should be selected if both were available. My expectations for this draft are ridiculously high. Look at recent drafts and players taken around our position. Many good names. There should be no excuses for playing cheap, anyways, as there has been rumors floating around the slot recommendation system would fall once and for all. Good points. Again, my main thing--take a college position player. Whether it's Beckham, Smoak, or Alonso, I just want someone that can be on the fast track. Any projections on Jason Castro, the Stanford catcher (not the American Idol dude)? That would be a typical Kenny Williams pick, but is he worthy of a #8 pick?

MLB Draft Projections
I have nothing to base this opinion other than reading scouting reports and watching clips, but I hope the Sox take a college position player. Somebody that could be in the 2010 Opening Day lineup. I've heard a lot about Justin Smoak, but it would be cool if they took Gordon Beckham. A homegrown shortstop would be a refreshing change for the Sox. Plus he'd probably be a prototypical 2-hitter.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 4, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) Until someone is dropped from the 40 man, I dont think he will be They could put Sisco on the 60-day DL. Problem solved. edit: they only have 39 on the 40-man anyway.

2B: Why not give Getz a look?
I agree Getz should be given a shot. He's going to be a big leaguer either with the Sox or somewhere else. I really like his approach at the plate. He doesn't try to do too much and can hit to all fields. He'd be a perfect number 9 hitter right now.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 3, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) Our next call up has to be either Richar or Owens for Russell/Ramirez. Gotta have a lefty off the bench. Richar hasn't even started playing this year. Ramirez, like it or not, is back on Tuesday. I'm saying for a day or two, Fields would be a good choice to give Crede a day off.

White Sox @ Blue Jays 12:07pm CSN-HD
Josh Fields isn't in the lineup for Charlotte today. If the Sox don't have to use the bullpoen too much today, I'd like to see if they could swap Russell for Fields tomorrow to give Crede a day off against Halladay. Charlotte is playing in Buffalo, so it would very doable logistically.
-
Pitcher possibly being called up
Owens and Fields are both in the Charlotte lineup. Adam Russell will be in the pen for these four games.

I'm throwing this out there...
I agree Tony, but Ozzie has his new favorite. When Ramirez threw out Byrd at home in OKC, it was over.

I think the Giants could use some offense. Trade Crede and Dye to San Fran, and just dump Uribe. And please...PLEASE get Alexei Ramirez out of the outfield. Owens-CF Cabrera-SS Thome-DH Konerko-1B Swisher-LF Quentin-RF Pierzynski-C Fields-3B Ramirez-2B

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) That lineup is re-god damn-diculous. Why? It's the last game before the season starts. They'll get a couple AB's and then the replacements come in.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 12:29 PM) yes, he and gavin floyd. If you believe the s*** coming out of Ozzie and Kenny. Which raises a good question: who is in line to take Floyd's place in May when ozzie finally says enough? Mark my words, Gavin Floyd will have a better season than John Danks. 12 wins, 4.50 ERA

The Last Roster Spot
I think Wassermann is going to get it. Both are done pitching before opening day, so it just tells me they are trying to trade Masset. Thornton and MacDougal will be able to pitch a couple innings at a time. I also think Wassermann can go a couple innings when needed.

Where The Corn Is As High As Greg Walker's Eye...
QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) Can never tell with relievers. Sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle like with Cotts in 05. No love for Hermanson and Politte? There were plenty of career years.

Where The Corn Is As High As Greg Walker's Eye...
I just looked through the box scores. Since the off day on March 13, Swisher is 4-40 (.100), with 8 walks. Sox win, but I think Carrasco hurt his knee on the final play of the game.

Anyone notice Swisher has been brutal the last couple weeks?

MacDougal actually had a better spring than I expected. I'll reserve ripping him until at least Monday.

Ramirez, RBI single. The Sox are going to have some serious decisions to make. This guy has to play.
