Broadway starting sunday...
Tribune is saying 4-man rotation after Sunday. That means the matchups in Minnesota: Vazquez-Baker Buehrle-Perkins Floyd-Blackburn

Jason Bourgeois up with Sox
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) Don't expect to see Getz anytime soon. He also has a fracture in his wrist. I put this in here because the Bourgeois call up makes a lot more sense now. Happened August 31. This guy's fault: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=451584

Game Thread 09/07/08
Anderson, Hall, and Fields are playing today. Pretty sure Fields is the DH with Uribe at 3rd.

Game Thread 09/07/08
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) AJ needs a rest badly. other than that Ozzie should play all of his regulars, unless Griffey needs a rest, then it should be BA in CF for his defense. I heard the lineup earlier. Hall is playing, but I can't remember if there were any other subs in today. Today is a huge game. If they can win today and tomorrow, the Sox will have a 3 or 4 game lead going into Tuesday.

The Butcher suspended...
I'm surprised they stuck with Valido that long. That's fine, we have a couple shortstops in Beckham and Kuhn to keep an eye on.

Glass half empty or full; Pessimism/Optimism?
I think Minnesota will win the division by one or two games.

Call Ups
Ah yeah, Paul Phillips. Forgot about him. Considering Armstrong is on the 40-man, and having a good season, I kinda hope he gets the call. The Boone Logan callup already is curious. He sucked at Charlotte too, so hopefully he's just going to be used in blowouts.

Call Ups
QUOTE (forrestg @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) childers or phillips? Who is Phillips? They had Heath Phillips last year, but he's long gone. Childers would have to be added to the 40-man. Doubt that will happen.
-
Call Ups
I'd activate Linebrink and Wise, and brink up Wassermann, Getz, Fields, Owens, and Armstrong. I wouldn't bring up Logan or MacDougal.

Sox vs O's 6:05 CT CSN/WSCR
Rain may be an issue tonight. Both teams are off on Thursday, so they have that going for them.
-
Gordon Beckham
The deadline is August 15. Most of the top picks last year signed around midnight on August 15, so there you go.
-
2nd-half Rotation
If they don't skip anyone, and they don't have any rainouts, the 2-3-4 guys are going to have the bulk of the Tigers and Twins games. Asking a lot of Floyd and Danks, but I can't blame them.
-
TWINS or TIGERS
Twins tied up the Tigers in the 9th, still batting. I'm sorry, but I'm taking this as a good thing.
-
TWINS or TIGERS
QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) The Twins always give us problems even if they arent good. We beat the Tigers regularly. Gimme the Tigers vs Twins 7-4 vs. Tigers 5-4
-
TWINS or TIGERS
If the Sox win the next four, I'd like to see the Twins win 3 of 4. Yes, the Tigers still scare me more.
-
**White Sox vs. Royals 7/7/08** 7:10pm, The U
Might have some rain delays tonight.

How many games will win the 2008 AL Central?
91 if they win at least 3 of 7 from Minnesota, and 4 of 9 from Detroit.

TCSN: Orioles Interested in Uribe; News on Danks
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) Some reporter on ESPN First Take was on talking about some rumors about the Sox dealing Konerko and that Boston is very interested. Apparently the belief in Boston is that Ortiz will be out for the season. However, for the most part the rumors she was talking about sounded like a bunch of crap. Did indicate that the Sox may be looking to acquire pitching. I really don't think there was any legitimate inside info regarding these rumors though. I don't see Konerko approving a trade to any team that doesn't have spring training in Arizona, or that plays east of the Mississippi.
-
If you could improve this team, how would you do it?
If the Sox can find a way to replace Thome and/or find a true leadoff guy, that should be the target. I'm happy with the pitching staff.

Random Mark Buehrle questions
QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) what do you mean by "draft and follow" ? Up until last year when they changed the rules, teams would draft guys in the later rounds with no intention of signing them right away. They would tell the player that they would like to sign them the following year right before the following year's draft--usually in May. If you go to a 4-year school, you can't come out until after your junior year. So these players would go to community colleges and junior colleges, and play that season and sign in May. So the new rule is really hurting the JUCO programs.

Random Mark Buehrle questions
It's incredible that a draft-and-follow 38th rounder from 1998 made the majors in 2000. Makes you wonder where he would have been drafted in 1999.
-
Signings from the 2008 Draft
8th rounder, Kevin Dubler is catching for Bristol tonight.
-
Trade deadline
If they can replace Thome with a better bat, they should do it. Sorry for Jim, but if the opportunity is there, you have to take it.
