  1. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) Beckham 2-5 Thursday night. Batting average up to .403... 4th in the league. He's up by August. Book it.
  2. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Conference call w/ KW is on Sox website. What was with the nose breather? Good lord.
  3. Good stuff. http://aflwhitesox.mlblogs.com/archives/20...our_domain.html
  4. Danks 3-3 today with a stolen base. He and Beckham are 1a and 1b as the Sox top prospects as far as I'm concerned.
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) I just saw read the article and was going to post it in PHT but thought I better check here first. Good news. I wonder what level the Sox will play him. Think AA is too much too soon ? Not at all. I'd be pretty surprised if Beckham didn't start at Birmingham.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Why in the world would we b****? What other way could they have done it with the White Sox getting the home field advantage? Our record against the Twins was worse than the Twins record against us. So that would mean they should have home field. We had the same actual records. I doubt they would do record vs. own division. Basically, the coin flip was the only chance the Sox had at getting that game at home. Win or lose, you'll take it cause you have a 50/50 shot. If you don't, you'll have no chance. What would you take? 50% chance or 0% chance? Your post is a little confusing to me. I'm just saying if the Sox would have beaten the Twins 10-8 head-to-head, and the Twins won the coin flip, Sox fans would have been pissed.
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) Coin flips are dumb, had we lost the flip, people would have been b****ing forever about it, period. Absolutely if the shoe was on the other foot, White Sox fans would have brought b****ing to a new level.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) And Beckham's swing has been broken down and compared to A-rods, now its choppy? I think he has been listening to too many "scouts" at the local fudruckers. Between Kanny and the AFL, Beckham is 32-100. I'm going to assume he knows what he's doing if he's hitting .320 in his first 100 AB's.
  9. I would change the thread to Swisher or Dye will be traded. I just can't imagine anyone would want to take Konerko's two years, $24 million after the season he had. Plus it pretty much would have to be the Angels or Diamondbacks for Paulie to approve, and we don't know if either team wants him.
  10. I think Dye for Figgins is a possibility. After that, maybe a starting pitcher, a bullpen arm, and a backup catcher. One thing is for sure with Kenny--expect the unexpected.
  11. I could deal with Richard being the 5th starter, but I think he'd be a helluva lot more valuable as a second lefty out of the pen, and a spot starter.
  12. Nice post, Scenario. I'm wondering if Beckham will be a non-roster invitee, since usually that's reserved for guys that actually have a shot at making the team. Maybe they'll just put him in minor league camp and bring him up a few games here and there. I really doubt they're going to hand him the job without at least going to Birmingham for a couple months. But I agree with you---after seeing him play about 10 games after he got drafted, I'm sold this guy is the real deal and he'll be up at some point in the 2009 season. The signing of Jayson Nix, and the talk of he and Chris Getz being a platoon at second base makes it sound like they'll be there just until Beckham is ready to take over. Should be interesting to see if he exclusively plays 2B in the minors next year, since it appears Alexei will be the Sox SS for the next few years.
  13. Danks 2-4 today. Double, single, walk, run scored.
  14. Nix was added to the 40-man roster. Who in the Sox system is up for being added in a few weeks? Like last year when Russell, Egbert and Harrell were added or they would have become fair game in the Rule 5 draft...who is in that category this year? Brandon Allen one of them?
  15. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 09:54 PM) So I wonder if Gooch gets a ring for his whole 4 games of contribution this year to the Phillies? Jamie Burke got one AB in 2005. He has a ring.
  16. QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) Wow...Jordan Danks already 2-2 on the day with a dinger. As excited as I am about Beckham...I'm really hoping this kid develops into our CF of the future. 4-4 now. 2 runs. 3 rbi's. It would be a refreshing change to actually develop some of our own draft picks.
  17. Maybe a Getz/Nix platoon until Beckham is ready. I'd be surprised now if the Sox signed Orlando Hudson. He'll want years, but I don't see the Sox making Beckham a 3rd baseman--and he's not going to be in the minors very long. Getz/Nix/Uribe seem to be a good stopgap until Beckham is ready. If Getz or Nix play their way into the lineup long term, even better.
  18. Beckham was 1-3 with a double, walk, and 2 runs today. Also made his 3rd error in 4 games. His team lost 18-10, and they committed 6 errors. Carlos Torres and Derek Rodriguez both pitched and managed not to give up any runs. Cole Armstrong was 4-5.
  19. Kinda sucks Beckham is only playing once every three games or so. Maybe he'll get an AB tonight. I hope they start him at AA next year.
  20. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) this is not just directly directed at you yasny but to everyone....really Beckham in 09???? I think Beckham will be on the fast track, but they have to decide what position he's going to play. I could see him being up at some point during the 09 season, but not to start the season. That doesn't seem realistic since they'll build a team that can win in 2009. They certainly won't count on Beckham to start the season in Chicago. My feeling is Beckham will play 2B next year at Birmingham. If Alexei is a great SS, he'll stay there. If not, Beckham will move back to SS. I'm not buying the 3rd base idea. I think Beckham is in the opening day lineup in 2010, and hopefully for the next 15 years.
  21. Konerko handed Reinsdorf the ball. He'll get his number retired. 35, 14, 56, 13 are the next four.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) I didn't realize that the kid was #23. My favorite He was 6 at Georgia. He was 8 at Kannapolis. Don't go out and by that 23 jersey quite yet. JD might not want that either.
  23. Beckham is leading off and playing 2B tonight. Made an error, got picked off by the catcher. 1-4, double, HBP
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 11:04 PM) I almost don't want to watch. I am really afraid. Makes two of us. I plan on watching a couple movies during the game. I'll check the score around 10:30, and hope for the best. If they lose tonight, same thing tomorrow.
