  1. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) Mark Ellis thing? Elaborate please. Just rumor, but it's popped up a couple times in the last month. No idea if it's true, but he'd be a nice pickup.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) Probably also means welcome back Torpedo Boat as well. No way we let him go now with Richar being out that long. I still think Uribe is gone. They'll go with Ramirez/Ozuna/Bourgeois. Or maybe the Mark Ellis thing gets done. That would be my preference.
  3. Per the Score, Richar out 4-6 weeks. Good luck, Alexei.
  4. Sox and Dodgers play each other this afternoon. Maybe Ned Coletti and Kenny Williams will have a chance to chat about some things. The Dodgers have a bullpen guy that would give the Sox some depth at AAA---Jonathan Meloan. Remember that name.
  5. I think the Sox have a chance to be pretty good this year----with Josh Fields. I'm not denying Crede is a much better defensive player, but Fields is ok. If they keep Crede, I think it's just a distraction to the team until something happens. If it's inevitable that Crede is getting traded, I'd rather it be before next Thursday.
  6. Anyone else out there who doesn't really give a crap what they get for Crede? I want him traded. I want him traded now.
  7. Owens starts 108 games in CF. Richar starts 108 games at 2B. Ramirez starts 54 games each in CF and at 2B. These are just rough estimates...
  8. Boers and Bernstein are trying to confirm that Juan Uribe has been released.
  9. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 12:18 PM) So that last bullpen slot really is between Masset and Wassermann (even though they aren't the same type) - which means Masset. And with Lucy and Armstrong gone, that pretty much guarantees we have Toby Hall as the backup C, I think. Who does this leave in camp now? Pitchers(14): Buehrle, Carrasco, Contreras, Danks, Dotel, Floyd, Jenks, Linebrink, Logan, MacDougal, Masset, Thornton, Vazquez, Wassermann Catchers(3): Hall, Phillips, Pierzynski Infielders(8): Cabrera, Crede, Fields, Konerko, Ozuna, Ramirez, Richar, Uribe Outfielders(6): Anderson, Bourgeois, Dye, Owens, Quentin, Swisher DH(1): Thome In my opinion, Carrasco, Bourgeois, and Phillips are still around as an emergency situation. Masset will make the team as the long man, with Wassermann falling just short. A lot of the other moves are contingent on possible trades. Crede and Uribe are still trade possibilities. Anderson is a maybe. Quentin and Richar's health. A lot up in the air in the 8 days left in Arizona.
  10. Ohka got cut today. Reassigned to minor league camp. Carrasco outlasted him. Also...Sisco, Lucy, and Eldred were cut. 32 left in camp.
  11. I still think Crede gets traded in the next 8 days. They'll settle for whatever they can get in the end.
  12. Unless there is a trade, I think the pitching staff is set: Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, Contreras, Floyd Masset, MacDougal, Logan, Thornton, Linebrink, Dotel, Jenks Wassermann and Ohka fall just short, but they'll be needed this year.
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) Is Paul Phillips from minor league camp or something? Non-roster invite. Has played in the majors. If Hall starts the year on the DL, I think Phillips has a shot over Lucy.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) Did Brian Anderson hit himself into a coma? I wanted to see this new revamped swing... He played in a B game this morning. Owens and Quentin were also scheduled to play the B game too.
  15. Bourgeios, CF Cabrera, SS Thome, DH Konerko, 1B Swisher, LF Dye, RF Pierzynski, C Crede, 3B Uribe, 2B -------------------- Theriot SS DeRosa 2B Hoffpauir, 1B Ward, DH Fukudome, RF Murton, LF Soto, C McGehee, 3B Fuld, CF
  16. The Sox will face the Twins 3-4-5 starters. I don't think you have that right with Bonser-Hernandez-Liriano. I thought the Twins were leaning toward Livan for Opening Day.

Jack Egbert and Adam Russell were optioned to AAA. Cole Armstrong optioned to AA. 36 left in camp.
  18. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) Has there been something wrong with Danks? He didn't pitch particularly great in a minor league camp game yesterday. Other than that, I think the reports have been good. I agree with the previous post about Oliver Stone. Something is in the works. I think maybe Masset is getting showcased for a trade.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) Thanks for saying that, I was wondering that after I saw that... The question now becomes, who are they targeting that they opened up a spot on the 40 man... Any theories? Possibly Tomo Ohka, but with possible trades of Crede, Uribe, Anderson, and Masset, I wouldn't read into this too much. For all we know, Vasquez may have had a b**** session in Guillen's office this morning when they were going to send him down, and KW just released him instead.

Pitchers (18): Buehrle, Carrasco, Contreras, Danks, Dotel, Egbert, Floyd, Jenks, Linebrink, Logan, MacDougal, Masset, Ohka, Russell, Sisco, Thornton, Vazquez, Wassermann Catchers (5): Armstrong, Hall, Lucy, Phillips, Pierzynski Infielders (10): Cabrera, Crede, Eldred, Fields, Konerko, Ozuna, Ramirez, Richar, Uribe, Thome (DH) Outfielders (6): Anderson, Bourgeois, Dye, Owens, Quentin, Swisher Happy, Pappy?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) That's not the camp list - that is the 40-man roster. Subtract the guys cut today. Then go to the non-roster list. Subtract the guys cut today. Then subtract Wes Whisler. 39 left.

QUOTE(scenario @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 02:03 PM) The Trib article says 39 players left in camp. Anyone got a list? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/roste...an.jsp?c_id=cws Don't count Wes Whisler as a non-roster invite.
  23. I think that was a mistake on the writer's part. No way Ohka starts the season with the Sox unless there are injuries and trades. The staff right now is Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, Contreras, Floyd, Masset, Logan, MacDougal, Thornton, Linebrink, Dotel, and Jenks. Wassermann is first in line if a move is made.
  24. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 12:30 AM) Not too many people do that. I'm the opposite. Even though I'm left handed I through right handed for some reason. OK--trivia: In the last ten years, name a White Sox player (not a pitcher) that throws left and bats right exclusively.
  25. Two things: 1) His name is Rickey. 2) Where is this coming from? Stealing bases and running the bases are two different things. Ozzie coached with Jeff Cox in Florida, and he knows what he brings to the table.
