  1. Not going to bother reading, since we know what it’s about, but anyone that didn’t vote for Jeter, Walker, and Schilling this year, turned in a bad ballot. I can accept not voting Bonds and Clemens if you’re not voting for roids guys, but Jeter and Schilling have the career accomplishments, and Walker got close enough last year, that he’ll be getting in someday with or without writers, so just do it. Walker is trending pretty good now. It’s going to be close.
  2. Good interview with Kevan Smith http://files.triblive.com/podcasts/sportstalk/Ksmithpodcast.mp3
  3. Yes, that’s what he said in the interview, that the White Sox used the toggle switch in the late 80s, but LaRussa was the one that put it in while he was manager. Whether this is all true, at this point, I don’t care. It makes it too easy to excuse what’s happening in the 2010s, and I don’t want that to happen. The game needs to be cleaned up when it comes to technology available, and if you break the rule, you’re gone.
  4. Nobody is talking about that. Everyone accepts that in baseball...observable signs with the naked eye is fair game. Using technology- cameras, maybe buzzers, in real time, not cool . Not acceptable.
  5. Who knows how widespread this is, but it’s going to be real interesting to see if foul balls go way down, and swings and misses go up league wide. They could probably point to the baseball if runs scored goes down this year, but 2020 might be an eye opener.
  6. Kids, don’t put “the” in front of MLB in this context. K thx bye.
  7. I still want to know what Chirinos picked up and put in his pocket.
  8. ^ Probably why Altuve didn’t want his jersey ripped off after the walk off.
  9. Right, but I guess my point would be: that phrase makes it sound like everybody should ignore rules. My hope is that most players know that if a substance is banned, you just don’t do it. Kind of like gambling rule- you just don’t do it, because if you do, you’re gone. On the Astros thing, I think it’s something that starts off small, and then it eventually spirals out of control. It did, and now people have lost their jobs and everyone knows you can’t be in the batters box and actually know what’s coming with the aid of cameras...that isn’t sports. That isn’t fair competition. Yes, there will always be some cheating and trying to get away with stuff, but these elaborate schemes have to stop.
  10. I’d say Eduardo Perez will be the Mets manager very soon.
  11. If Walker comes up a few votes short, that would be a shame. If you know a guy is going to be close to 75% and an eventual Committee vote guy anyway, vote for him. I never was a Larry Walker guy, but when you know it's eventual, just check the box and be happy for the guy.
  12. Plus we don't know what the ball will be like. They had a great year, but maybe some of their guys had swings that were more conducive for the ball to stay in the air longer. If the ball goes back to normal and the rampant cheating stops, it's going to be an interesting season to see who falls off a cliff statistically.
  13. Nate Jones going close to home. Signed with Cincy.
  14. 4/84, then 16 for the 5th yr or 8 mil buyout
  15. Morosi on MLB Tonight threw out the Sox as a possible suitor and dropped Moncada as a guy that could interest the Rockies. I’m not a big Morosi fan, so take it with a grain of salt.
  16. Taubman is suspended by MLB until the 2020 World Series is over, and then he can apply for reinstatement.
  17. Yeah, I’m not sure the exact rules on that. I guess they could have just given him a release to begin with. We’ll see what happens, but it just feels like he’s gotta get a fresh start someplace else.
  18. Just a guess here, I think Covey leaves the organization one way or the other- release or choosing free agency if he doesn’t get claimed. He can’t be in the picture anymore, even though I thought Zavala was going to be the guy cut.
  19. Considering he’s the mastermind, and with multiple teams, he’s got to have a longer suspension than Hinch, in my opinion. If that happens, the Red Sox would probably follow suit, and replace him. Cora may have managed his last game in MLB.
