If he’s staying in LF, he needs to have “Eloy Rules”... no planting your foot into any walls or fences...no diving near walls...no jumping into stands. He needs his own prevent defense, or he can’t be there anymore. Everything else- the routine stuff, yes he could work on and get better. But bottom line, it’s about the team and putting the best team on the field that eventually wins 90+. If that makes him a DH or 1b at 25, oh well

But once every couple years, some weird play happens in baseball that a homerun comes off the board when it doesn’t have to. You’re right, it’s a bonehead play, but stuff happens. If the ball is over the fence, what’s left to do? Put the runs on the board, and end it.

He may be terrible there too, but he won’t be sprinting into any walls or diving as much. He’s an injury waiting to happen in the outfield.
