We could take this over to the other thread, but the Padres are under .400 now, with 50 games left. 20-30 finishes their season at 63-99. I would suggest the Sox lose 101 games to get the 3rd pick. Hopefully they land in MInneapolis with 100 losses already.

And they also brought him to the big leagues as a 3B.

I just can't imagine the Sox took Madrigal without thinking he's going to be their 2B someday. They could have taken a half dozen other players and just as easily said that that player was the best available. The proof will come out over the next couple years, but I just can't see Madrigal as the guy they trade.

I would assume he’s saying Madrigal can’t hit the ball out of the infield. Yes, he grounds out a lot, but he’s also coming off a wrist injury and is only 21. He’ll show up to spring training with more strength, I’m sure. Physically, he has a way to go.

Madrigal was the 4th pick in the draft...there should be optimism. He also has an elite eye- the dude doesn’t strike out. And he has plus/plus makeup. Moncada is just tools right now, which are great and could make him a superstar someday, but he has to cut back on the Ks and show more focus day-to-day.

While this is true, I’ll make a prediction that a year from now, it’ll be clear Madrigal is going to be the Sox 2B and Moncada will have to switch positions. My opinion is that Moncada should be in 3B boot camp all winter.
