Word. The front office got the ok to blow it up and start from scratch- and that takes years. We’re all in a position now to find out if the “critical mass” of moves will prove to create a winning window from 2021-2025...and maybe 2020 if we’re fortunate. But if after 2020 it looks really bad still, then everyone has to go. We just have to have faith it works because that’s the reality of the situation.

The bottom 8 teams this year are 117-223 (.344). Rounding up, that’s like 56-106 for 162 games. Last year on May 20, the bottom 8 teams were 136-204 (.400). Those 8 teams played .463-ball after May 20. The eventual bottom 8 teams for 2017 played .411 ball after May 20. What does this all mean? The bad teams are worse this year, and the Sox are clearly getting a top-3 pick next year.

They’ll win more than 45 more games. It wouldn’t be too much to ask for 4-4 at home vs Tex and Bal.

The Sox don’t have to feel bad keeping Jimenez and Kopech down all year and waiting until 7>6 next year. Kopech is clearly still a work-in-progress and he’s still just 22. Eloy is 21 in AA. Let him dominate all year in the minors. There’s no rush with him.

The CBA ends after the 2021 season. I'm already expecting 2022 to be a strike-shortened season.

Sale and Eaton got traded 17 months ago. There's your math on the rebuild. I was optimistic that 2020-2024 would be the winning window, with 2019 being somewhat competitive and fun. I'm moving everything a year just to temper my own expectations. 2019 will be garbage. 2020 will have some arms with experience that we're counting on. Then 2021-2025 is winning time.

Such a fun year to be a Sox fan. Went to a bunch of games, and the players were so likable.
