Granted he ended up having a bad rookie season, but Brandon McCarthy debuted at Wrigley in May, 2005, and he didn’t do too badly. I’m hoping they wait until next year for both he and Jimenez and get the extra year for both, but it’s not happening.

Rosenthal says the Mets are confident they’ll trade him. I can’t imagine what teams are offering. If the Sox are offering anything, what? I can’t even guess it has to be so minimal.

Unlikely, but not ridiculous. If the Sox go 4-14 the next 18 before they’ve played one game against the Indians, I think they have it in them. .360 ball the rest of the season gets them at 56-106. There are three teams that could lose 100+ this year, and probably will.

I’m sure the Indians will have a great record, but I don’t think any team should be gifted a top-3 seed based on geography and having three rebuilding garbage teams in a 5-team division.

I gave Renteria credit for having players that show up and try to win. He’s done a better job than Robin in that department. But the front office needs to be very careful about who they think can get this team over the top when the talent level is close to contention.

Just some of the comments made by Kopech about what he’s looking forward to in the next month, and also Hahn talking about him...and his season up until today...and the Sox need for quality innings. Maybe today’s start moves that back for now.

Probably true, but it seems like they’re leaning toward bringing him up soon. Might as well get him working with Coop. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if they waited until next April/May for both Kopech and Jimenez to get the extra year, but probably won’t happen.
