  1. If the Sox think they can get to 84-78, they should stand pat. That's 39-28 the rest of the way. Sell?
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) Is there really hope for a WC? I'm all for it but ... 7 AL teams have 49 or 50 losses. The Sox are one of them. Small chance, but the question is, is it enough to stand pat until at least Thursday?
  3. Wow. Yankees crushed Perkins. Hopefully Reinsdorf is asleep already. Make the trade, Kenny and Rick.
  4. If the Yankees win, the Tigers, Blue Jays, and Orioles will be gaining a crucial game this time of year. And the White Sox too, I guess.
  5. Arod homer to tie the Twins. I hate him, but we'll take it.
  6. At the very least, I hope Buehrle keeps going as long as 30+/10+/200+ remains intact....especially the 200+ innings. Hall or not, he's had a remarkable career. He's definitely made his mark on the game...no pun intended.
  7. Yankees chipping away at the Twins. Many teams are watching with interest.
  8. I can buy EJ being scratched in case the big club needs him, but scratching Montas for the AAA team seems a little less likely to me. At the minor league level they can always have a bullpen day. Something seems to be going on.
  9. Or Montas is going to Houston too so the Sox get better positional player prospects. All of these scratches are interesting.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) I was looking at this too this morning. If you believe the Twins will come back down to earth in the near future, an argument could be made that the Rays & Blue Jays are the realistic leaders for that 2nd wild card spot and that we are only 3 games behind them. Still makes us huge longshots, but given the strength of our pitching and recent turnarounds from Melky & Alexei, there is a slight sliver of hope. Enough, IMO, that you need to get at least one sure-fire prospect for Shark in order to move him, especially when you have a comp pick/draft flexibility as a fallback option. The Jays should be there at the end. 4 games left with the Phillies, 3 with the Braves, and a bunch of division games. They actually have a decent shot of catching the Yankees. With their offense, they should be ashamed of being only .500 right now. Personally, I'm hoping the Sox and Twins both lose the next 6 days. Fewer sellers, but the Sox still are.
  11. Saladino on the Score now. Do young people in general just mumble because all they do is text?
  12. So what happens if the Sox win the next four and the Twins lose the next four? It probably won't happen, but point being, there are teams still in wait-and-see mode--or at least they should be. The Twins are the second wildcard at 8 over .500, playing the Yankees and Pirates next. The rest of the teams behind them are at .500 or worse. The Twins falling back to .500 would make the rest of the season extremely interesting for many teams, and possibly make the 2nd wildcard winner get in with 83 or 84 wins. I'm not saying the Sox should bank on going 39-29 to magically get in with 83 wins, but I'd probably want to wait until Thursday or Friday to trade Samardzija. Right now, a lot teams are watching what the Twins are doing.
  13. Should have been his second shutout. Memba this.... http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LA...201206170.shtml
  14. Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson going to the Mets. Jazz hands. In-division trades are all the rage.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) Huh. He kinda sucks this year. But on the Cardinals he'll be great, because the Cardinals. As long as he doesn't drink and drive, he'll be good.
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) "According to one interested party, the asking price on Jeff Samardzija is four players" That seems fairly ridiculous, unless it's four low-level lottery ticket types.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) Levine on the score today said that the Royals are very interested as well. ...and he threw out the name Yordano Ventura...although that was really his own idea. No thanks to that guy. Let's get some position players in the system, or better yet, in the major league lineup.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) So the Tigers are actually kicking the AL Central's ass this year, it's the other 25 teams that are giving them problems. vs. AL Central: 27-17 (.614) vs. everyone else: 20-31 (.392) I think they'll stand pat with Price.
  19. The Royals should want to get Samardzija too. Besides Moises Sierra, who do they have?
  20. Melky- first multi-homer game for a Sox player this season. Game 93.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) You let Shark finish? 8-1 lead, and around 100 pitches. Pull him.
  22. Nice night for Samardzija's trade value. Hopefully Hahn likes what he hears from a team in the next four days, and his bosses allow him to be traded.
