  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) 3-3 tie in MIN. Watching now Pirates 2 on, 1 out in the 8th.
  2. Clearly, LaRoche should feel slighted, and retire immediately. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/626141482412548096
  3. 5 days...they went from the 8th pick to the 14th pick. Now the Sox are 4 games back in the loss column from being a top 10 team in baseball. Winning in bunches works wonders for jumping teams in the standings. Imagine that.
  4. QUOTE (gatnom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) So, do people still feel like Samardzija gets traded at this point? It feels like they're just going to stand pat to me. Blue Jays are at home for 3-- vs Phillies for 2, then KC Thursday. Twins are at home too-- 2 vs Pirates, then Seattle on Thursday. If things go backwards for the Sox over the next two games, I'm trading Samardzija anytime on Thursday. Otherwise, see how things finish out after Thursday's games and then decide.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) Why base your whole course of action on a two-game stretch? That's 1.2% of the season. What if the Sox win the next two then lose the next four? What if they lose the next two then win the next four? The Sox have now played about 100 games this year. They should make good decisions/trades for both the short- and long-term health of the club regardless of a ridiculously small sample of two games. Because they have to draw the line somewhere with a deadline in just over 76 hours from now. The Sox are teetering on the edge of contending with a viable shot, and not. They'll have a lot more information in 60 hours.
  6. Since the Blue Jays are probably the favorites to improve and catch the Twins, here is what they are looking at the final 62 games of their season: (13) NY (7) Bal (6) Bos (6) TB (4) KC home (4) Min home (4) Phi 2/2 (3) Atl away (3) Cle home (3) Det home (3) LAA away (3) Oak home (3) Tex away 34 home (currently 28-19 at home) 28 away (currently 22-31 on road) I think they'll go 34-28 for 84 wins. The Sox would have to go 37-28 to match.
  7. I'd be shocked if Samardzija doesn't start tonight in Boston. Whether you think the Sox are in it or not...with where they are in the standings, and how low the win total for the second wildcard could get, there's no way they should give up on this season right now. Now maybe if they lose tonight and Wednesday, and the Twins beat the Pirates both games, maybe they bail Friday before 3pm. But right now? No chance.
  8. Eaton is DHing tonight. LaRoche on the bench.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) Alejandro Zúñiga ‏@ByAZuniga 32m32 minutes ago The #Tigers started the season by winning nine of their first 10 games. Since then, they're 10 games under .500 (39-49). Over to the far right, here are the records of AL teams the last 11 weeks. The Red Sox and Tigers have been terrible. http://www.baseball-reference.com/games/st...date=2015-05-10
  10. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) So with Bryant and Pederson slumping is Arenado currently the favorite to win NL ROY? Arenado was a rookie in 2013. You thinking of somebody else?
  11. QUOTE (SnB @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) This team has gone on a few runs like these before, always to give it all back in the next week. Unless they go 6-1 this week, we're still sellers. The deadline is Friday at 3. They only have four games to work with. If they split with Boston, I still trade Samardzija if the deal is right. 3 out of 4, I'd stand pat. It's that close of a line.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) Which game hasn't been made up? June 27 at Tigers. Will be made up September 21.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) Thanks, Chicago weather! And they only have one game that hasn't been made up. So it's just been more off days to this point than most teams. I think the trade deadline should be when most teams have 54 games left. A third of a season is a good number.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) I assume Tampa, Baltimore, and Toronto have a lot of games left against each other. Unless they split them all evenly , somebody has to win a majority of those, which doesn't help. The schedule this year was like this in regards to playing in your own division: First 5 weeks- 8 of 10 series in division Middle 16 weeks- 8 of 32 series in division Last 5 weeks- 8 of 10 series in division So May 11 to August 30 is a balanced league schedule for all intents and purposes. The Orioles and Rays play each other this week. After that, they've all played each other until they get to the last five weeks of the season.
  15. It sucks the Sox have played the fewest amount of games in the league. They have the least information to make a decision about selling or not. Meanwhile, the Tigers suck.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) You have them winning or tying every series from here on in. That's a tall order. It's an average. Maybe they go 3-4 against the Angels, but go 3-1 or sweep the A's. Just pointing out the schedule they have left is doable if they play good baseball. At this point, there's no harm in having some hope. But if they only split with Boston, I'd probably hope for Samardzija to be traded. Until then, hope the win train keeps going, and the Twins keep losing.
  17. The 1983 White Sox went 50-16 the final 66 games to win 99 games. Obviously, this team will not be doing that, but they could go 39-27 for 85 wins. Here's what the Sox have left, and what they'll need to do for 85 wins: (9) KC 5-4 (7) Bos 4-3 (7) Det 4-3 (7) LAA 4-3 (7) NY 4-3 (7) Sea 4-3 (6) Cle 4-2 (6) Min 4-2 (4) Oak 2-2 (3) TB 2-1 (3) Cubs 2-1 Is it a long shot? Yes. Is it possible with a good pitching staff and an improved offense? Sure, why not. Now...about Laroche...
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Scary. 1 1/2 games away from the White Flag deficit against Cleveland. Of course, that was only ONE team we were chasing, not 5-6. The Sox are chasing 85 wins. Nothing more. Nothing less.
  19. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Meh, we really would have to at least take 3 of 4 in BOS and play lights out for them to even think about it. Correct.
  20. Sweep! And the Twins are losing big. Not so fast on selling.
  21. Eaton sore shoulder. Should be back Monday. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/625328887963217920
  22. Bonifacio's name is on the scorecard today. On the bench.
  23. A while back I said the Sox should stay with what they have if they're 50-50 waking up on July 31. Then I changed that to 49-51....and I still believe that. So when they lose their 2nd of the next five games, make trades. If it never comes, ride it out with what they have, and hope for a miracle.
  24. Either go 40-27 for 85 wins, or 27-40 for 90 losses. One or the other.
  25. 8th pick after Wednesday's debacle. 13th pick three days later. 5.5 games from being the 2nd pick in the draft. 6 games from being the 2nd wildcard.
