QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) Conor not being in either lineup is kind of a telling sign. Definitely looking like a DFA candidate, come Sunday. I would think they'll go back to a 7-man pen on Tuesday, and Gillaspie will be gone...well, him or Bonifacio. But my money is on Conor right now.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) Shark for Colon straight up. Colon immediately is our second baseman the next 10 years. I really don't think the Sox are going to make any moves though. They think they are in WC hunt and are comfortable with this year's payroll. A 26-year-old minor leaguer is our 2B for the next 10 years? Ok... He may be a decent player, but let's not carried away. But then again, it's you saying it.

Eh, what the hell... Quintana and bullpen arm(s) to the Cubs for Schwarber and McKinney.

Pro debut tomorrow night.

Aaron Nola will start for the Phillies on Tuesday.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) Is this confirmed or just speculation? Hahn hinted at it this morning, but said Robin will confirm before today's games.

He'll start Sunday. I think they wanted to keep it open just in case he got in the game Tuesday and wanted to have an option. Personally, I would have had him starting in 3 hours, but that's just me.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:52 AM) I swear every game I go to Danks is pitching. Well, look at it this way...you could say you were at Montas' MLB debut.

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) Are we sure he's going back? I figured we'd send down a position player. We dropped Carroll for Saladino only because we were going to the All Star break (we could afford to abuse the pen) and we were playing in the NL so we need a bench. We'll see. Wouldn't surprise me if Montas is just here in case Danks sucks and they want to pull him early. Other than that, he may just be hanging out in the pen for 6 hours, and then getting back on a plane. -
Good day for a free blanket too.

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday
flavum replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I believe the rule is (and I could be wrong)... If the rescheduled doubleheader is the day after the rainout, the 26th man is only eligible for the 2nd game because travel may play a factor for one team and not the other. If the rescheduled doubleheader is far in the future (like today), the 26th man is eligible both games. So I think Montas is the 26th man, eligible for both games, and he'll be returned to Birmingham after tonight. -
13 teams at 4 games under .500 or worse. http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/group/overall Will any of these teams reach .500 again? I don't think so. The second wildcard and weak divisions are fool's gold.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) Hahn on the Score at 835am tomorrow. I'm sure he'll talk a little Montas and other stuff. No Montas talk, but they did manage to keep the Kenny/Rick "Who's in charge" topic going...boring. Also Hahn doesn't know teams play 19 games against teams in the division, which scares me a little. You didn't miss anything. -

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) Anyone think Hawk will start only calling home games with a new contract? After what happened this season (meaning being bad), I think he'll cut back next year. Wouldn't be surprised if he eliminates west coast, Texas, Toronto, and east coast except maybe Boston.

QUOTE (SnB @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) Farmer needs to go away - the cranky old man act is just flat out annoying. If I was made King of all things White Sox, the first thing I would do is fire Ed Farmer with a smile on my face.

He'll probably only pitch if things go sideways with Danks. -
http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20150715 AAA All-Star Game- Erik Johnson starting on MLB Network at 7pm. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20150715

The math would indicate he'll easily get 3000 K's if he makes 300 starts over the next 10 years. If he stays healthy and pitches to 38-39, he'll get over 3500 for sure.

Sale pitching in AS Game in Emergency situation ONLY
flavum replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) This thread is hilarious. I would have liked to see him pitch, but I also don't mind him getting extra rest. There is absolutely zero reason to get upset about this. Tipping his cap and doing an extended interview on MLB Network was plenty enough for me. I've seen him pitch in All Star Games before. I've seen him screwed out of a AS Game MVP before. So last night, no big deal. The thing I don't agree with is him not starting on Friday against the Royals and maximizing his second half starts if the team actually believes they're still in it. At this point, I'm expecting them to split the next 14 games or go 6-8, and the trading will begin. And then they'll shut down Sale at the end of the season with 30 starts, and they'll put him back in the glass case until next spring training.
