I just got to this. Which you would be correct. For some reason I was thinking back to the dead ball era when what I described was the case for a period of time. I have been scouring over my library of books (I have over five thousand), and for the life of me I cannot find my rule book that was from the 1940's and prior. I have read multiple stories on it in the past, and it is pissing me off to no end that I can't come across it. The rule was so asinine which is why it got changed, as rules seemingly get tweaked year to year based on how outlandish some tend to be time to time.
No one has yet answered my question as to how a triple play can occur without the defense ever touching ball...
This is not to say is has ever happened, but it is indeed a possibility.
It would have to be on a bases loaded home run, and all of the runners pass each other on the bases.
