QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 10:36 AM) Why only 200? He threw 192 last year. Even if you buy the Verducci rule, the Sox can push him 220 without setting off alarms. At 32 starts, averaging 6 2/3, he'll be at 213 innings. I think that would be a good number to shoot for.

QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) I have to agree. With Sale you have 200 innings to spend. When do you want to use them? Yep. I'm hoping 18 starts before the break, and 14 starts after the break. If they can throw in a 6th starter a handful of times, they can take a little stress off the rest of the staff. In April, they could basically have the regulars on a 6-day rotation if they throw Santiago in there a few times.
-
After seeing Santiago last night, I hope they go with a 6-man rotation after the first couple weeks. Until then, this is what we're looking at: vs Royals: 4-1 Sale vs Shields 4-3 Peavy vs Santana 4-4 Floyd vs Guthrie vs Mariners 4-5 Quintana vs Beavan 4-6 Axelrod vs Hernandez 4-7 Sale vs Iwakuma at Nationals 4-9 Peavy vs Gonzalez 4-10 Floyd vs Zimmermann 4-11 Quintana vs Haren at Indians 4-12 Axelrod vs Masterson 4-13 Sale vs Jimenez 4-14 Peavy vs Myers Depending on how things go, maybe start Santiago the last game in Cleveland and start Peavy against Toronto (probably Buehrle on 4-15, wearing 42)

Should Verlander's new megacontract affect Sox thinking?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 07:51 AM) How are the Phillies digging the halladay contract. It hasn't really been bad for them, and it wasn't a mega-year deal. As for Verlander, it'll basically make him a Tiger for life. Good for them. Hopefully we'll have the same thing in Chris Sale. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 11:56 PM) I don't see anything on the official site, what did they change them to? They didn't. I said they should have.

Sox won 7-2. Good game for Santiago and Crain. Hopefully Crain is ready to go.
-
Jones and Quintana should have upgraded their crappy uniform numbers.
-
Nice inning for Crain there.
-
I think we're going to like Keppinger this season. A refreshing change not watching a guy strike out 150-200 times.
-
Braun Advantage.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 08:11 PM) Santiago is done after 3 perfect innings because, why WOULD you let a reliever go more than 3 innings? Bleehh.. Got to get guys work. Crain is pitching for his spot tonight (or go on the DL).
-
Hector looks like an ace out there tonight. After the first week, I hope they go 6-man during that 20-day stretch with no off days.

MLBTV has free games this weekend, and the game tonight in Milwaukee is one of them. http://mlb.mlb.com/mediacenter/index.jsp?c...0130329_6745834

Tigers are going: Verlander, Sanchez, Porcello, Fister, Scherzer

I'm very hopeful for this season, but this team could go either way. April is important. Don't let anyone tell you different.

First pitch temp on Monday is supposed to be 35. First pitch in Minneapolis will be 30. Places with domes and warmer weather that are starting on the road: Rangers, Marlins, Padres, Giants, Angels, Mariners

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) SSS believes it's just for an announcement of the Civil Rights game being held at The Cell this year.... http://nlbm.mlblogs.com/2013/03/21/white-s...il-rights-game/ Apparently the people who will speak at the announce are Frank Robinson, Jerry Reinsdorf, Kenny Williams, Frank Thomas, and Minnie Minoso. A Civil Rights Game announcement would make sense to me. Anxiety gone. I figured it would be something along these lines.

QUOTE (floridafan @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) Grabe was 1-3 today with a double. Took one off the top of a high RF Fence. He also suffered his first strike out of Spring Training. Should be playing again tomorrow as well.He had two balls hit to him today that he cleanly fielded. Very good. Hey, Steve Tolleson is still with the Sox. He may be playing 2B for Charlotte too.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 05:59 PM) Danny Knobler @DannyKnoblerCBS 3m Johan Santana has a 'probable' re-tear of left shoulder capsule - http://CBSSports.com http://cbsprt.co/10lJZ5Q Alderson: "To my knowledge, the contract is not insured." Mets owe Santana $25.5 mill this year, plus $5.5 mill buyout for 2014. Well, that makes us all feel better about John Danks' future.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 05:16 PM) Sweet Jesus Monday can't get here fast enough. How is this even a thread? Why wouldn't it be? If you don't have any interest in the topic, don't post. Anyway, here's the tweet I saw... https://twitter.com/craigcalcaterra/status/...374280260276224

That's probably the PTBNL for Cody Puckett.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Sox fans are being granted asylum from Hawk Harrelson. That would be nice. I'm thinking it'll be something charity related. That seems to be Reinsdorf's focus these days. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) It's not the all star game. I have no idea. We are moving to Tampa. So you just steal jokes off twitter and pass them as your own thoughts... Next semester you'll be quoting Gordon Wood.
