  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 08:46 AM) The game is on webcast today... not that anyone will really be watching. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 5m CWS 3/21 pitchers: Sale, Veal, Reed, Thornton CWS 3/21: De Aza 8, Keppinger 5, Rios 9, Dunn DH, Konerko 3, Viciedo 7, Ramirez 6, Gimenez 2, Beckham 4. Raises hand slowly.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 5m Sources: Hanley needs surgery on his right thumb. #Dodgers. WBC. Glad De Aza and Rios made it back in one piece,
  3. It's almost like they're going with Axelrod because then it avoids a tougher decision when Danks is ready. Meaning, if Santiago is really good as a starter, then they have to make a tough call on Quintana if he has a couple bad starts. This way, Santiago stays in the pen, and the good soldier Axelrod makes a few starts, and goes to Charlotte.
  4. Looks like the Sox are making it known John Danks will start the season on the DL. Still down to Santiago or Axelrod for 5th starter. I think Omogrosso and Troncoso are in competition for the bullpen still if Santiago makes it as the 5th starter. Doesn't necessarily mean Axelrod goes to the pen, or a 3rd lefty. edit: Axelrod most likely 5th starter
  5. Sox lose 4-2. Fly to Chicago a week from now.

  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 09:03 AM) You are obviously wrong, John Danks is ruined forever, and it's the worst contract in the history of the entire planet. I'm in the middle on this... Should we be patient with Danks coming back from this? Yes. Absolutely. Should we be a little afraid the Sox gave 5 years/65 mil to a guy that may never be an above average major league starter again? Hell yes. I'm not saying it was a bad deal at the time. It would just be unfortunate if the Sox don't get the value back for that investment.
  8. As long as Danks keeps moving forward, and stays here when he gets here---and puts up quality starts, they should take all the time they need for him to get ready. There's no point in just saying "close enough", and have him start the season in the rotation.

  10. Danks started sucking when he got those new teeth. Conspiracy.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) Realistically the guy hasn't pitched in a year. He could really be not right and still be healthy. Yeah, it's not a reason to panic yet. Still, that remaining contract is frightening right now. Maybe a few starts for Charlotte will do him well, and he'll be fully back--and effective.
  12. On a brighter note, Keppinger seems to be a guy that can roll out of bed and go 3-4.
  13. Holy implosion. Danks is toast.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) You expected something else? Danks 3rd, if healthy. We'll see.
  15. Dunn error prevents a 1-2-3 inning.
  16. I guess in Danks' defense, it may be a lively ballpark. I'd still like to know his velocity, and what he has to say after the game.
  17. Bummer. Can't help but think Danks will start the year on the DL. Might be looking at Sale, Peavy, Quintana the opening series.

  19. I'm a Carlos Sanchez fan too, but man Phil Rogers loves prospects. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...ck=rss#WhiteSox 2014, Phil. 2014.
  20. The Sox are covered. They need Viciedo, De Aza, and Rios to play 150+ games. And Wise is there to play the other three spots. Gillaspie and Keppinger is a pretty decent platoon at 3B. And Keppinger can play a little 2B, and probably would be ok in LF if forced to in an emergency. Dunn and Konerko will split time at 1B, and Gillaspie has been playing there too. And Angel Sanchez can play middle infield, backing up Beckham and Ramirez.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) Mildly surprised that Morel didn't make it another round, but that probably explains why they were exploring Beckhams SS skills. It is down to Gillaspie and Sanchez for the last roster spot on the IF. I think Angel Sanchez and Gillaspie are both on the team. Assuming 100% health, I think the 11 remaining cuts are: OF: Danks, Tekotte IF: Tolleson, Bell C: Anderson P: Gray, Septimo, Omogrosso, Purcey, Troncoso, Axelrod
  22. Moskos, C Sanchez, and our boy Zach Stewart to minor league camp. 36 left in camp.
  23. More cuts coming today. Carlos Sanchez will be among them. They're announcing them now. Heath and Morel to Charlotte.
  24. Big day for John Danks. Results usually don't matter in spring training, but I'm sure he's taking the mound today with some purpose of getting outs. Hopefully the reports are good when his outing is over. If he's not hitting at least 90 on the gun, I think he starts the season on the DL.
