  1. Danks interview http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2605476.story
  2. Danks started sucking when he got those new teeth. Conspiracy.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) Realistically the guy hasn't pitched in a year. He could really be not right and still be healthy. Yeah, it's not a reason to panic yet. Still, that remaining contract is frightening right now. Maybe a few starts for Charlotte will do him well, and he'll be fully back--and effective.
  4. On a brighter note, Keppinger seems to be a guy that can roll out of bed and go 3-4.
  5. 4 years/57 mil. Lovely.
  6. Holy implosion. Danks is toast.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) You expected something else? Danks 3rd, if healthy. We'll see.
  8. Dunn error prevents a 1-2-3 inning.
  9. I guess in Danks' defense, it may be a lively ballpark. I'd still like to know his velocity, and what he has to say after the game.
  10. Bummer. Can't help but think Danks will start the year on the DL. Might be looking at Sale, Peavy, Quintana the opening series.
  11. Lineups http://baseballpress.com/lineup.php
  12. I'm a Carlos Sanchez fan too, but man Phil Rogers loves prospects. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...ck=rss#WhiteSox 2014, Phil. 2014.
  13. The Sox are covered. They need Viciedo, De Aza, and Rios to play 150+ games. And Wise is there to play the other three spots. Gillaspie and Keppinger is a pretty decent platoon at 3B. And Keppinger can play a little 2B, and probably would be ok in LF if forced to in an emergency. Dunn and Konerko will split time at 1B, and Gillaspie has been playing there too. And Angel Sanchez can play middle infield, backing up Beckham and Ramirez.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) Mildly surprised that Morel didn't make it another round, but that probably explains why they were exploring Beckhams SS skills. It is down to Gillaspie and Sanchez for the last roster spot on the IF. I think Angel Sanchez and Gillaspie are both on the team. Assuming 100% health, I think the 11 remaining cuts are: OF: Danks, Tekotte IF: Tolleson, Bell C: Anderson P: Gray, Septimo, Omogrosso, Purcey, Troncoso, Axelrod
  15. Moskos, C Sanchez, and our boy Zach Stewart to minor league camp. 36 left in camp.
  16. More cuts coming today. Carlos Sanchez will be among them. They're announcing them now. Heath and Morel to Charlotte.
  17. Big day for John Danks. Results usually don't matter in spring training, but I'm sure he's taking the mound today with some purpose of getting outs. Hopefully the reports are good when his outing is over. If he's not hitting at least 90 on the gun, I think he starts the season on the DL.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) More importantly, why don't they play more night games (any night games) near the end of ST? Talk about a change in schedule once the season begins... This coming Friday and Saturday will be night games--both on TV too.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 08:32 PM) Steve Stone? Yeah, he never misses any time.
  20. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) I dunno, is Reinsdorf very observant? They never did it before last year, and that was for Youkilis. It's just weird the Sox are the only team that observes a special start time for Yom Kippur.
  21. With this Orioles/White Sox September 5th controversy, it got me looking at the schedule a little more closely. Noticed the Sox scheduled Friday, September 13 at 1:05 for Yom Kippur. Again, the Sox are the only team to do this. Why is it so important to them and not any other team?
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 04:47 PM) Just play them both at night, it's not like anyone goes to Orioles games anyway. Final weekend of August in 2012, Baltimore hosted the Sox, both teams contending, and they got 36,080 fans. For the entire 3-game series. I think they share parking. Logistically, I don't think the Orioles and Ravens can play at the same time. This thing is a mess. To me, it's not the end of the world if they end up playing a day game if the Ravens/NFL compensate both the Orioles and White Sox. My only other idea would be to trade the entire series home and away. So basically the Sox would have a 2-week road trip in July before the break, and a 2-week homestand in September---which isn't happening because of 4th of July weekend. I'm just tired of the NFL dictating whatever they want to do whenever they want. Screw 'em.
  23. So, the NFL want the Orioles to move their Thursday, September 5th game against the White Sox to the day so the Ravens can open the season that night in Baltimore. O's in Cleveland, Sox in New York the night before. I say f*** the NFL. Plus it's a weekend before a big series with the Tigers, so the thought of playing a day/night doubleheader on Saturday isn't going to fly. Tough s***, NFL. You can't always get what you want.
  24. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) Hopefully he didn't blow his load for the season. He had a bad WBC up until last night. I'm just glad he took a couple good swings last night. Hopefully he's good enough to be the 3-hitter all year.
  25. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 05:55 PM) Where are you getting that forecast? I've been checking periodically highest I've seen was 51. 59 would be amazing. And now the high on opening day is 45. It'll end up being what it usually is--52 and cloudy with possible rain. Hard to believe with the weather like this they're playing baseball in Minneapolis and Chicago in two weeks.
