GT: Sox vs. Other Chicago Team @ 7:10 CT (CSN)
flavum replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in 2012 Season in Review
I wasn't expecting a win tonight, so whatever. As far as the bullpen arms, I know sometimes AAA doesn't mean they'll be good up in the majors, but I'm willing to find out with the likes of Stewart and Ohman on the team. Looks like Axelrod will be up, but Heath, Bruney, Leesman, a couple other guys, are having great seasons in a small Charlotte park. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) I'd rather have this series during the week. Those games are harder to sell than weekends. Yeah, theoretically that should be good for the White Sox. I think the Brewers booked the Cubs (or requested) mostly on weekdays for this reason. -
The Brewers rotation is now set for Fiers, Greinke, and Wolf. Sox need to go 4-2 minimum this week. Or how about just run the table at home for once?

I don't know how they're going to do it, but the Sox need 4 wins per week until the break. 12-7 or f*** this team. -
The AL dominated interleague this weekend 28-14. Only three teams with losing series--Sox, Twins, and Indians. AL leads overall 96-72.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Those of you b****ing about pulling Quintana need to stop, seriously. We're not dealing with 2010 Bobby Jenks as the closer, we're dealing with Addison f***ing Reed, the guy who had been perfect in save situations. The Dodgers got a few lucky hits off him, it's not like he got pounded. s*** happens. There's no guarantee Quintana pitches a scoreless 9th. Get off your high horse. It's baseball. People have the right to first-guess or second-guess a baseball move. Me personally? I want to live or die with Quintana in that situation. It doesn't mean the Sox come away with a win there, but that's what I would have done.

I'm glad I missed the Ranger postgame. Let me take a guess...he took Robin's side. Just a wild guess, there.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) How many "this will be when the Tigers make their run" runs will they have to have before we realize they're just not that good of a team this season? No One. And I mean NO ONE. Is going on a run away in the Central in 2012. Not The Sox. Not The Tigers. Not the Indians (The Royals don't even merit discussion) This division will be won with 90 wins at most. And it's gonna be bitter all summer and into the fall. It'll be nailbiting heartbreak or victory (which will also make hearts malfunction) Welcome to 2012. The way they stack division games in the last 5 weeks of the season, somebody could get hot in September and run away like the Tigers did last year. My feeling is the Sox need to be 72-58 on August 30, and go 18-14 the last 32 against mostly division teams to get to 90. 90 should do it this season.

5:30--didn't want to see what Robin was going to do with the 9th. Knew it should be Quintana finishing this game. Watched golf for hour and half. 6:55--checked score. 7:00--posted this pissed. When a pitcher is in the zone, you let him finish. On the other hand, the Dodgers did get screwed earlier in the game. That Mattingly ejection was an all-timer.

No lineup yet, but John Danks Sr was on the Score and said Jordan will start in CF today.
-
Nationals DFA Brad Lidge
-
Letting Buehrle go was the right move. Signing Danks is iffy, but at his age, it's not too objectionable.

Sox have a change in rotation for Cubs series.

Sounds like it's mostly to give Sale a little extra rest following a bad start. It also sets up a chance Sale will pitch the Sunday before the break, which would take him out of the All-Star Game. 6-22 vs Mil 6-27 at Min 7-3 vs Tex 7-8 vs Tor Either this, or they'll just go 6-man until the break, with hopefully Danks in there at some point. -
The one good thing about letting everyone back into the race

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 10:21 AM) This team has lost 7 of 9 - just like every team does. It's a bad streak over a relatively small portion of the season, after an insane winning streak. I wish some of the same people that screamed "sample size!!!!" about batting stats could hold perspective together when this team goes on either a good or bad stretch. This stretch doesn't mean that the sox are going to lose 90 just like the winning streak didn't mean the sox would win 100. If we continue to play well against the division we will win it. If we don't, we won't. Losing 6 of 9 doesn't mean s***. We have holes, yes. So do most other teams, including competitive ones. By the end of this month we will probably have reeled off 8 of 10 and the naysayers will once again be the converted. Going into yesterday, I said 13-9 to the break. Now it's 13-8. @LA 1-1 Chi 2-1 Mil 2-1 @Min 2-1 @NY 2-2 Tex 2-1 Tor 2-1 That's very doable for a "good" team. So do it. They can't afford to make a bad stretch a longer bad stretch. -
What an awful division. Hammering home why they should have just eliminated divisions, played a balanced schedule, and have the top 5 of 15 make the playoffs starting in 2013.
-
I hate waking up and thinking about that game last night. UGH! I said yesterday. 22 games until the break, they have to go 13-9. Now it's 13-8. If they're a real team with real intentions of winning the division, then be 47-38 at the break.
-
34-30 in a s*** division. The Sox suck just as much as the Indians and Tigers, except they had their one hot streak.
-
OOHHHHH...Humber tomorrow. Great!!!!
-
What a horrible game.
-
Indians win 2-0. Pirates offense is not good to say the least.
