I'm not sure but I don't think that the players made the schedule. They just went out and did what they needed to do, except for 1 game just like OU and LSU. It is not the players fault that they are in one of the weakest conferences this year and they didn't have any real tough non-conference opponents. I do not see how anyone can say that the BCS got it right. How is it possible to get it right when there are three teams with one loss. All of whom deserve a shot at the championship. Then take in the fact that the #1 ranked team in both polls isn't in the championship. Yeah, that sounds about right to me. The only way the BCS can come close to getting it right is if there are two teams that, luckily, end up with a better record than everyone else in the nation, like what happened last year. And still to say that those are the only two teams that can compete for the national championship is a joke. There needs to be a playoff, even if it is just a 4-team playoff, to give more teams a chance.

BCS, Why Conf Champs only is bad idea

I still think you should take the conference champions for the fact that it shows they ended the year on a high note. As I said before K State's QB, Ell Roberson, was injured for the games that they lost earlier in the year. He is an electric, Mike Vick, type of player who can change how a team has to defend and prepare for them. Also, It takes some teams awhile to gel. If the NFL had this formula and shortened schedule, Philadelphia would likely not be placed in the championship because of their slow start. Remember the NCAA has no preseason games. It takes luck, not just skill to end a season undefeated or in this year's case with one loss. I do not think that anyone wants to play a team like Michigan or Kansas State right now because they both ended the season so well. Bottom line is I think there should be more emphasis on how you end a season than how it begins. You obviously don't feel that way and I can see your stance. But if a team loses a few non-conference games to start the year then comes back to win their conference isn't a contender for the national championship, then I don't know who is. -

That's why there needs to be a playoff. -
The Polls Florida is #1 in both polls and Illinois dropped from #11 to #14 in both. Kansas is #7 in the coaches and #5 in the AP. UNC is #7 in the AP and #8 in the coaches.

The argument is against the BCS Championship Game not a playoff system. If they're just picking 2 teams, how can they pick a team that doesn't win it's conference? Now, if they had an 8-team playoff however, they could take all the Big 6 Conference Champions and the 2 highest ranked teams that didn't win their conference. You would still have the question of whether 3 teams should be allowed from one conference. And who would play who. Whether to keep the tie-ins w/ the Pac-10 and Big Ten in the Rose Bowl or to rank them #1 through #8 and have the matchups based on that. But, this is just an idea. It would have these teams Conference Champions Florida State Kansas State LSU Michigan Miami USC Other 2 Oklahoma Ohio State, Tennessee, or Texas (depending on which poll you use) -
How's the recruiting in MM2004 dynasty mode? The offseason is almost my favorite thing about sports games.

Yeah, I'll definitely be cheering for Michigan but I'm not so sure of a win. They are playing in USC's backyard basically. It will just be less painful if USC wins this year. I would laugh my ass off at the BCS and a split national champion. I think the Big Ten has some tough games this year. It sucks they always have to go down south and out west to play teams from those areas. They should make them come to Detroit or Cleveland and see how well they play then.

Sorry if this is long but I felt it needed to be said. The truth is that the team's that win championships aren't always the teams that do the best over the course of a season, it's the teams that are hot at the end of the season. Look at Syracuse last year in basketball. If they had to pick two teams to play in a national championship it would have been Arizona and Kentucky, neither of which made it. Look at the Marlins this year. They started off terribly and ended with the best record the last 4 or 5 months of the season and won it all. If college football could have a playoff it would be much more exciting and profitable. And don't try to tell me that the regular season games would then lose their exciteness or value. If only 4 or 8 teams were in a playoff the games would mean just as much. There could even be a way to do it without controversy. Take the 6 big conference winners and then the 2 highest ranked teams that didn't win their conference. Honestly, who wants to play Kansas State right now, or Michigan? No one. They both won their conference after struggling early on. Kansas State even has the injury of their star quarterback to blame for their losses. So I guess I'm what I'm saying is how can a team that doesn't win their conference just be selected to play in a "championship" game over a team that won their conference and is the consensus #1 in both polls. If the regular season is like the playoffs of college football, as I hear many people argue, how can a team that loses their previous game be in the championship?! I'm a big ten fan and as much as I would like to cheer for Michigan to win I might just find myself cheering for USC in the Rose Bowl so there would be a split national championship. f*** the BCS!!! It has done nothing but make the college football championship a joke.

should i write that down like I wrote down that there was no way Oklahoma can lose this game tonight. because 2 other people were sure about that too. Anything can happen. I wouldn't vote Oklahoma in the top 2 after this performance, that's all i know.

Don't forget Michigan. The Big Ten will be fine come tournament time. Illinois playing UNC pretty evenly in Greensboro at the beginning of the year, with a new coach, and without McBride is a positive. Wisconsin taking Maryland to overtime in Maryland, one of the toughest places to play, is a positive. Michigan and Purdue did what they were supposed to do. The Big Ten did get a wake up call from the ACC there is no denying that. But rarely do things end up in March the way people predict things in December. Who'd of thunk Syracuse would win the national title last year at this time or even at the beginning of March. All you heard about was Arizona and Kentucky. College Basketball is really showing a lot more parity recently. There's that word again.

In an episode after Kramer gets kicked in the head by Crazy Joe, he blurts out Yo Yo Ma out of nowhere. Jerry then wonders why he just said the name of a cellist, if that is the correct term, for no reason. I just thought it might be in reference to this since it came from nowhere.

I agree 100%, refer to my post in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge thread...ridiculous. That pisses me off more than Illinois' loss. That game will better prepare them for what's to come. -
Is that a Seinfeld reference? Just wondering.

No, Indian got embarrassed. Northwestern got embarrassed. Michigan did its job and won. Illinois and Bruce Weber played their first tough opponent in a road game and put up a good fight. Wisconsin took a top 25 Maryland team to OT on their homecourt before being defeated. Oh, and by the way Purdue beat Duke on a true neutral court in Alaska this weekend. We'll see what happens tomorrow when 3 of the 4 games are at Big Ten sites. -
Not Even Close...my ass!!! :fyou ESPN!!! anyone who doesn't think ESPN has an east coast bias is blind. to put this title over a picture of a UNC player is just misleading and unprofessional. make it sound like UNC and the ACC dominated all you want, I still know the truth. so, the acc is up 4-1, don't have an orgasm. one OT win, Illinois beat themselves, Indiana is down and without their only big man, and NU just plain sucks. Oh, and did I mention the 4 games the Big Ten lost were all on the road. Anyone else notice that the ACC always has more games at home in this challenge. Illinois dominated UNC at home last year. and they always schedule it so the ACC gets out to an early lead the first day with all the favorable matchups then. f*** it, I don't care anymore. We'll see what happens come tournament time. Anyone who disagrees
