  2. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Cool idea for a blog! I had always thought buying tickets from someone at the gate was scalping. Is that only if you pay above face value? I don't have any objections at all to getting deals on tickets. I'm just concerned that the blog may somehow get the author into trouble. Hope you save that site for your own memories. Twenty years from now it will be pretty nostalgic to read it.I have bought/sold tix through craigslist and picked up right by gate 4. not that hard. security stops people openly pimping tix too close to the park. that's why the scalpers work closer to the train and expressway.
  3. have you tried buying vouchers online? the kids' club vouchers are all over ebay. pm me if you need help getting tix
  4. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) I was afraid that was how it works. I would think it would be more advantageous for them to release all the seats at once and display all the available seats on the map as opposed to holding certain rows. Just out of curiosity though, I'll be checking the map periodically as the game gets closer so I can see those upper rows become available. Hopefully they become available soon and then get sold.i think they dont want to show that "good seats remain".
  5. the seat map "opens" more seats as certain rows get sold. so 506 row 21 wont be up for sale online until they sell more of the lower rows. that way they still have spots for groups. the seat map is a strange beast. sec 108 has several rows with singletons scattered about for almost any game, but on game time, those rows are almost empty. also, dont forget season ticket and group tickets get released back closer to the game. so sec 139 may be "sold out" for a game in september if you tried to buy today, but by the time the game comes around, that section will have open seats.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:39 AM) There is also isn't much "Indian's" parking. Most of it is independently owned around the park. http://view.ed4.net/v/TSAR2O/EK8OLC/FIJCUW...93000-320407520 Dear Fans, As we head into the second half of the season, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your loyalty and support throughout the first half of the season. 7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 05:50 AM) Therein lies the question only Brooks can answer. How much has the dynamic pricing model clawed back profits from the revenue they gave up by lowering prices before the season? Because there's just no way that's the average ticket price in the ballpark, or close to it...from a walk-up standpoint or single game advanced purchase perspective. I think they are trying to have it both ways. Look at how readily the codes are now. When they started doing that it was super hard to find codes, now they have a page with ALL the codes on whitesox.com I suspect the sox keep prices high(even when the lowered them this year) to keep the investors happy. Remember, JERRY operates on a break even system, but the investors may want to see profit. Perhaps by offering the codes, they can still offer value pricing without looking like they are small market. And they still are selling season ticket packages aggressively, with the same lowered prices as in the offseason. 32 games in the upper deck are $524 with full playoff rights.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 06:07 AM) I still don't see why the marketing team can't do an experiment (just for the 3 game Twins series, it's midweek and one day game) and discount parking down to $10 and see what the difference is in collected revenue. It would have to be a lot better promoted in advance than the dynamic pricing deals, though, to have a measureable effect. The Indians are offering FREE parking when you buy at least 4 tickets (online with a code) for this coming weekend. of course, their parking is as low as $10.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 07:48 AM) But what I'm getting at is something marketed or directed at more middle class fans or ones who would be drawn to attend the game at least partially because of a promotion such as all you can eat or all you can drink/Thirsty Thursday's (such as most minor league stadiums still run.)The vibe i got when i asked my rep abou tit was that they dont think it can be done properly. I think it can. You just need to designate certain stands AYCE. I've seen teams make people wear wristbands, or have thier ticket scanned each time they get food.
  10. Prices DID go down. Season and group tickets saw steep decreases. But individual games are subject to dynamic pricing, which typically go up. The report must be using preseason pricing(when dynamic pricing was not active)
  11. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) Is there much of a culture of buying season tickets for USCF amongst diehard fans, or is it more a case of picking and choosing your games as you go?both. sox have a solid ST base, but most fans buy smaller plans or individual games.
  12. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/ticket...content=pricing The Sox have been adding a few games to the "Dynamic Deals" quietly the last few days. 7/24 and 7/25 have $20 Lower Reserve Seats in Sec 108 and 156. 8/8 AND 8/10 are $10 tix in Secs 506-509 and 555-558. Curiously, last weekend's Toronto Series had $10 Upper level seats for the entire series, but mysteriously 7/8 was removed from that a few days before the series. So it's best to keep checking this link and make your decision quickly.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) So I assume Bears games will be empty this year? Chris De Luca ‏@ChrisDeLuca $49 for #Bears tailgate parking. no the sheep will flock there once again to watch mediocre(at best) football
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) US Cellular houses 103 luxury suites located on TWO levels, located under the upperdeck which raised the upperdeck, this created one of the highest upper decks in baseball. The first row of seats in the upper deck at the new stadium is as far from the field as the highest row of seats in the upper deck at the old stadium. The pitch and angle of the upper deck give one the feeling of vertigo. Guess this is urban legend also! same ol tired chiches. have you been to any other park? milwaukee's is higher, so is citi field and yankee stadium. the ONLY new park that has a better upper deck is pittsburgh. but they built below street level.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) Upperdeck is worthless and is the albatross of US Cellular. JR had to have the extra suites and when park was designed he was warned about what the upperdeck would be like and did not care as long as he got the suites. this s*** again?
  16. QUOTE (SnB @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) I've been to 100+ games and had no idea you could do this. Those are the seats near the right foul pole right? I thought you needed to buy tickets for those (like the pregame buffet) Yes, by Section 107ish The field level seats are free, the ones in front of the 100 level seats are $15 per person.
  17. If you're over 21, get an upper deck seat, and get the bullpen bar seats.
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 10:47 AM) The 1% thing was a joke. too bad they're s***ty jokes. and besides, with all of sox fans being white trash scumbags, there is no 1% at sox games.
  19. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) Boy I'm a two-time loser here apparently, since I'm either common folk in the--gasp!--UD when I take my mom or I stand on the LF concourse by 163 with my friends, yes the entire game. Although we don't pay $100/ticket. I still want to try club level though. Do you think they will still smell my 99%-ness and toss me over the rail? no one cares if you sit in the club level. it's not like people dress in suits and ties at the club level.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) Spoken like a true 1%'er. there are a lot of morons at sox games, even in the choice sections of the 100 level. Like during cubs/sox, where all these people pay $100 and up for lower deck seats, just to STAND on the outfield concourse. So for a lil more, yeah, I'll go where it's less crowded, and the only choices for watching the game are on tv in the concourse(or bar) or in your seats.
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) 300 peeps are considered above 100 peeps, who are considered above 500 peeps. So yes, you can go to 500 or 100 without issues. Edit: The day you buy a 300 seat, you've become a Sox 1%'er and an elitist. I call BS on this. the Club Level is cheaper than PREMIUM LOWER BOX(which is on the 100 level). And dont forget the scout seats are on the 100 level as well.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 11, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) If you can afford it, it's well worth it. The biggest plus is the temperature-controlled concourse, especially if it's a very hot or very cold day. Second biggest plus is the limited access to that level--it will never be very crowded. Another bonus is that you have a server who comes to your section to take food and drink orders. Only real downsides are that you of course are not as close to the field as the 100 level, and that there is a better food selection on the 100 level. I disagree on the food. The club level food is 100 times better than the 100/500 level concessions. Levy kicks ass. They have a foot long polish that is insanely good and only $7.50.
  23. Süper Secret tip: Make sure you take one of the in-park surveys. The kids handling that wear green shirts. Not only do you get $1 in comiskey cash, but you can also get something even cooler depending on how you answer questions about tickets....
  24. I also post a lot of deals on yelp. You can look at them here: http://www.yelp.com/topic/chicago-official...ides?category=5 Note how I made a funny in the title! I also have a facebook page up. Search "Secret Sox" and you'll find it. Anyone can join the group, but I do have to "approve" new members. I used to not do that, but we get too many scammers that post ads for asian mail order brides.
  25. Hey Everyone, While we're all big Sox fans, not everyone knows the various tricks and schemes to make your fandom cheaper(or have more "value"). Thankfully, I know a few of these things. And it wouldn't be nice for me to hog them all and not let you guys have some fun! From tickets to parking, and even concessions, there is always a way to make your Sox experience positive instead of turning into TSB (typical sox bulls***). I'll be posting stuff periodically here so that fans can take advantage of what the sox are offering. Not all of these are as obvious as "go on 1/2 price monday" or "park by the train station", but most of these are good suggestions. To start off, I'l lpost something I JUST found online. Elvis Night tix (on 8/3) are discounted up to $15 off the non-dynamic price(the price that was available when tix first went on sale) when you go to http://www.whitesox.com/uic and use the discount code UIC. I'll post throughout this thread offers as they come, and I'll try and post a "homestand highlight" as the boys get off the road. And, if anyone has thier own trick or deal to share, feel free to add!
