  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) People watched the Bears last night? Why? Because they're really easy to gamble on. If they face a bad QB they can usually win or cover. If they face a good QB the defense gets picked apart.
  2. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) I'm depressed, this was supposed to be the year that pushes the program forward and we're falling flat. Groce needs to get this team in order, it's on him at this point, you've brought these guys in you need to get them to play better now. Not saying he's on the hot seat, but man I have been sorely disappointed this year. We have to win the games we werent supposed to in the Big Ten now, and that's always tough. In the last 5 games Cosby is 5/39 from the field. He is 4/24 from 3 and 1/15 from 2. He's shooting 29% from the field for the year. Him and Starks have been awful. It doesn't make much sense. If they don't start shooting near their career averages it will be a long season.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:00 AM) You can add to the resume a home loss by Nebraska to something called Incarnate Word Nebraska was so overrated coming into the season. They had a joke schedule last year. I didn't think they would be THIS bad though. Losses to Creighton, URI, and Incarnate Ward? They're going to have to win like 11 B1G games to sniff the tourney.
  4. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 08:18 PM) Cosby has been the most disappointing player, he's brought nothing thus far. It really doesn't make sense considering he has produced against teams like Nova in the past. My only guess is that he's still getting used to playing primarily off the ball and running around screens whereas he was the main ball handler at Seton Hall. Illinois has two losses thus far. One to a ranked team in a true road game and the other at a neutral site against a top 10 team loaded with experience. The Illini were close at points midway through the second half in both. It's not the end of the world. It's not like they lost to NJIT.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) Not sure you can blame Gordon for the OSU game. Gordon is better than Coleman, Gordon is one of the best rbs Ive ever seen in college. By far best Wisconsin back. I agree with you. I've seen both play multiple times and I think Gordon is better. Coleman is good though.
  6. Yeah, after the 59-0 win I think most people would have been shocked if OSU was left out. I don't think they would have made it if that game was close, but that's a moot point.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) There's also a good chance they miss out completely due to not having a championship game. There's not a good chance of that happening at all. The committee moving TCU to #3 last week further reinforced that. If FSU loses this week it's also more likely that Baylor gets in than OSU unless OSU absolutely dominates Wisconsin. The committee takes injuries into account, so OSU is going to have to prove that they're still one of the best four teams in the country without Barrett at the helm. That will be tough.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 10:15 PM) The answer is not playing a PG at time. Tate isn't a Big 10 level guard and if he didn't play for Simeon in high school he wouldn't have been offered a scholarship. I could get behind that. Just let Rice be the primary ball handler. He did it at points last year and he looks even better so far this year.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 10:06 PM) No. Tate is really awful. He was dreadful defensively tonight and teams only have to guard 4 players when he is on the court. 1-10 with 1 assist is pretty awful. Starks cost the team possessions with just terrible shot selection. I'm not saying Tate played well by any means, but I would have rather watched him more with Nunn, Hill, and Rice than Starks tonight. All in all, they were both terrible.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 09:34 PM) Illinois will miss Abrams in the long run since it means Tate plays. Illinois will also miss Abrams when their starting PG goes 1-10 while going 1-7 from 3. The illini should have probably played Tate more in this game, but not with Colbert and Black out there with him. The rotations need to be tuned up a bit.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 07:00 PM) Alabama vs FSU and Oregon vs TCU might be the most compelling matchups possible for fans not of any of the contending teams. +1
  12. Apparently Kyrie and Lebron have played more minutes together than Rose and Butler. That is just insane and sad. http://www.sportsgrid.com/nba/lebron-james...d-jimmy-butler/
  13. The next 5 days should give us a decent view on where the Illini might be as a team this year. They're leading the NCAA in scoring thus far (crazy), but play Indiana St, probably Baylor, and then @ Miami in the next few days. I originally had them winning all these games before the season, but Miami looks better than I thought they would be. That's going to be tough.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 07:50 PM) Well Illinois...gotta be better than that if you want to win. Egwu has taken 8 shots in the first half including 3 3s. He's a really bad offensive player, so that should probably never happen unless they are all dunks.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) The Lions open as 6.5 point favorites. Even if the Bears sweep Detroit, they still need to pass two of Dallas/San Francisco/Seattle. If you really want to make the playoffs, petition to join the NFC South. The first half today bordered on horribleness with PSU/Illinois. I'm not really worried about the teams in front of the Bears. If they can get to 10 wins, I'm almost sure they'd make the playoffs. Just taking a quick glance at the schedules, the niners and seahawks still play each other two more times. I just think there's a very, very small chance that the Bears actually get to 10 wins. Much more likely that they win 7 or 8.
  16. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) The Lions look like s*** the past two games but I think they show up for Turkey day at home. Oh, I think the Lions will likely win, but the anticipation for the game will at least be there. If the Bears can somehow win that game the last 4 games all seem winnable.
  17. At least we get to watch the Bears game on Thursday with a sliver of hope.
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 10:31 AM) its that time of year when conferences are trying to get teams bowl eligible. so if Illinois goes 5-7, do you guys think Beckman is an automatic firing? Just trying to find some teams that may be willing to "steal" Golden from Miami. Since he wont get fired after this season, I've got to hope someone sways him away. He is f***ing terrible. Let another program get Haith'd. Why would he leave Miami to go to Illinois if he isn't forced out though? The Illinois program is awful.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 11:19 PM) If the Pelicans can somehow win 49-50 games, Davis might be your MVP. Yup. I honestly think he's better right now than peak KG. We'll have to see if he can sustain this level of play (not 34 PER level) for the entire season though.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 10:06 PM) They absolutely are. You seem to be changing your tune every 2 game winning or losing streak that they have. They'll be absolutely fine in April. I agree that they will. This isn't based on the strength of their team.
  21. I think it's fairly safe to say that Lebron is on the downside of his career. I'm really not sure why he lost weight when he was turning into a really good post presence. I'd easily take a 21 year old with a PER of 36.1 over an aging star and a near 7'0 wing scorer with foot problems.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) I know it's crap competition, but Illinois can score in bunches. Nice to see them blown out teams again. The team is absolutely loaded with shooters. They set an arena record in 3 pointers made last game with 15, going 15-28. Tonight they're 14-25. Absurd.
