  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 09:23 PM) So much for that improved offense. And the defense blows. Hope this is just first game jitters. The rebounding was the biggest issue. Nnanna had 1 rebound. That can't happen.
  2. The Pelicans are beating the T'Wolves by 53 points right now. Has there ever been back to back nights in the NBA where some team gets beat by 50+? I'd have to imagine no.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) Or gets in foul trouble. Basically I don't trust Morgan or Colbert at all at the 5 for anything more than about 5 minutes a game. And you know that's going to happen a lot, especially on the road in conference. Those guys combined for 12 minutes per game last year. They were freshman then and are sophomores now. I think, at the very least, Morgan has improved from last year. Egwu played less than 25 minutes 4 times last year @ penn st (a win), @unlv (a win), at home against valpo (a win), and against msu (a loss). I'm not worried about the foul trouble at all.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 10:00 AM) I'm starting to buy the hype, but I just can't expect more than being a bubble team. Lack of front court depth is going to be a huge problem. If Egwu gets hurt, then sure. There is more front court depth this year than there was 2 years ago when there was a sophomore Egwu, McLaurin, Henry, and Griffey. I would take SR Egwu, Hill, Black, and Morgan over that pretty much any day. That team was a 7 seed.
  5. My prediction for Illinois: 12-1 non-coonference, 11-7 in B1G play. 23-8 Regular season, 2 wins in the BTT, and a sweet 16 appearance in the tourney.
  6. Dallas is beating Philly by 50 points. This might be the worst team in nba history.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 05:29 PM) Higher than KG and you're crossing over into peak Hakeem territory. I don't think he's that good. He's not. Yet.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) Assuming AD maxes out he'll be right in line with the best of KG. More shotblocking, less passing. Would you take peak KG over LeBron or Durant? The answer for me is hell f***ing no. Sure, if his max is KG, then yes. I just think his max is higher than that. He's a MUCH better shot blocker, less assists (but less turnovers), he's going to shoot better from the field, and he has shown that he has more potential as a scorer than KG. Last year's season stats for Anthony Davis (age 20) were on par with KGs stats when he was 22 (this was the first year they're comparable) on a per game basis. The advanced stats has Davis in a landslide. There's no reason to think he can't be better than KG.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) I still think, that at the end of the day, the ability to close out a game and put your team on your shoulder offensively matters almost more than anything in the NBA. I'm not sure if AD will ever have the closing ability of LeBron or Durant. Pretty much every championship team ever has had either a hall of fame PF/C or a defensive anchor. The only example I can think of that didn't were the first three peat bulls and maybe the bad boys pistons. Big men are pretty valuable. Even a Dwight led team beat a Lebron led team in 09 and Davis is already better offensively than Dwight ever was.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) I'm still taking Kevin Durant. Anthony Davis has so much potential on defense that I think it gives him the edge. Defensive anchors are hard to find and ones that can average 25 PPG are nearly impossible today. The sample size is still obviously really small, but Davis is putting up an O-Rating at a Durant/Lebron type level while putting up a D-rating at a Hibbert type level.
  11. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) What would peak Anthony Davis look like? If there was a draft in the NBA with the entire player pool I think he would have to go number 1. He has been other-worldly through 7 games.
  12. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) Reports out there (Sam Smith?) suggesting Kevin Love to opt out of contract at the end of season and test free agency with Lakers on his mind. That.was.quick If this happens Cleveland isn't going to win a championship and will likely not even make the finals. The Wiggins trade would have turned out to be awful. I have to believe that Love stays in Cleveland, though.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) Can people on this board never post a rumor from Illinois Loyalty again? Thanks. If it wasn't addressed by sturdy on the insider board I wouldn't have posted it.
  14. Some rumors that Jawun Evans might be wavering a bit on his commitment to OK ST because Thomas and Gilder didn't end up there. I doubt it amounts to anything, but just an interesting thing to pay attention to leading up to the signing period.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 11:17 AM) Sounds like a Phil Jackson strategy. He would often use such tactics. The interesting difference is that Phil had players like Jordan/Pippen, Kobe/Shaq, and Kobe/Gasol under him. Veterans and very competitive guys that had been to the playoffs before. Lebron is trying to do this for Kyrie, Love, and a bunch of unproven kids? *Shrugs*
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 08:21 AM) There was a report that came out that suggested Lebron is letting this team sink, letting them learn the hard way that they arent what they think they are. Interesting strategy It seems like an awful strategy. Is he trying to "create a culture" that says to act like a child when things aren't going the way you want? I've heard other theories that maybe he wants the offense to just gel over time and make it not Lebron-centric like it was in Miami and Cleveland before that. That actually seems like an okay idea.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) TCU absolutely blows. They are a joke. They would be lucky to beat Illinois. They would absolutely roll illinois.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) I think it'll come down to who has LeBron. I'm sure similar things were said before the spurs series last year. The guy isn't unbeatable.
  19. Bosh with 26-15-4. People forgot just how good he was because he completely changed his role for the team they had. He's one of the best PFs in the game.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) Ya AD is absurd. Asik had a really good game for them also. That frontcourt is really good, especially defensively.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 28, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Ok, but that's still a legit offer. If he accepts, they're bound by it. Furthermore, what does Kansas have to gain for faking interest here? Do they really think teams will look at Kansas' interest, not do their own homework and then offer a guy sight unseen? Or do people think this is some deal between Kansas and the prospect to drum up more interest in him? But again, what does Kansas gain by doing that? I dunno, I don't get it. Jerrance also "offered" Bobo Drummond when he was an assistant coach at Illinois. If the prospect tries to commit the head coach can say that assistant coaches aren't authorized to make such offers, but that they're indeed interested. I don't see the big problem there.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 24, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) Meyer said it was legit Meyer was on the radio two days ago and said he didn't think the offer from Kansas was legit. Sturdy on rivals says the offer is for 2016 if Lovett reclassifies. Shrugs.
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 10:17 PM) Illinois just offered Morgan Park PG Marcus LoVett. 4* recruit with offers from Kansas, DePaul and Tennessee so far. He has stated that he wants to stay in Illinois to play college basketball. This kid has tremendous handles and is a true PG. Go watch his mix tapes on youtube. Unreal. Very doubtful that the KU offer is legit, but he's very talented. He would be a welcome addition if he can qualify.
  24. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) From everything I've seen he loves Illinois and Groce, he's going to light it up in Groce's system the way he shoots 3s. On top of all of that, he's really progressed his game to be more well-rounded, hugely underrate imo. (If you can't tell I'm a big big fan). Illinois absolutely should be, and from all accounts they have been probably the most active team with Eastern thus far. Yeah, I wasn't a huge believer in his initially because I don't think he's all that athletic. He works his ass off though (as you can see by all the videos his dad posts on loyalty) and I think,at worst, he's a 3 and d guy. He shoots too well and works too hard not to be successful I think. Downside is a DJ Richardson type I think (Jordan is much bigger though).
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) I'm sure the boosters have accountants that know how to handle such problems Yeah, this probably
