  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) Woj tweeted Bulls/Thunder leading way for Gasol. I doubt he signs MLE but maybe 8 mil. Would love if we could pull trade for Burks from Utah. Gasol/Burks/Mirotic is definitely a team that could get knocked out in 2nd round. It all depends on Rose. That team could make the finals because the East is so weak. People forget that the Bulls were pretty good in 2011 and this team would likely be better if healthy.
  2. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) If you are Jerry Reinsdorf and you are attending a wedding last weekend and you are being asked about Melo. Do you tell the truth? Lie on purpose? Or simply say don't know? Ha, my dad was actually at that wedding (assuming you're talking about Ozzie Jr) and said he wanted to ask Reinsdorf about Melo, but chose not to. Said the buzz was that he was staying with the Knicks though.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) I'm upset we aren't courting Bosh. I honestly don't think we could afford him. If Houston is actually offering him 4 for 88 or whatever, I don't see why he would come here. I think he's originally from Texas also
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 10:26 AM) The #1 insider on the OSU board who is really connected to OSU sports (and he claims the Cavs) said that Lebron to Cle is about done. Is it that NevadaBuck guy? I only ask because I used to look at the OSU scout insider board (one of my best friends went to OSU) and that guy had some interesting stories.
  5. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) The Big 3 sat down together at dinner before all this started. I'm guessing this is all a big game to them, from Bosh flirting with max contracts, to LeBron giving Cleveland hope. They are waiting on Riley to acquire Marvin Williams, or Pau Gasol and then they will sign again and NBA fans will hate them even more. I can't wait until this is all over with. This made me chuckle
  6. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 10:35 PM) Steven A on sportscenter saying if Bosh leaves expect Melo and Lebron to play in Miami. Yeah, I don't know how that would work out. They would have to add a few solid bigs. And would this make a Lebron a 4? It probably doesn't happen, so it's probably not even worth thinking about.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) Right but it's stupid. I don't think the guy can be classified as a ring chaser if he's the best player on the team. Basically any team that Lebron goes to becomes a title contender. I think a ring chaser is like what Karl Malone did joining the Lakers or even Ray Allen on the current Heat teams. Oh, well you could have just said you thought it was stupid then. You didn't really have to ask if I meant Lebron. If you google "ring chaser" or "ring chaser Lebron James" you'll find lots of things that talk about the issue and Lebron. I agree that he makes any team a title contender, as he showed the ability to take Cleveland deep in to the playoffs and got home court advantage a few of those years. If he would have joined a team like the Bulls, NY, or stayed in Cleveland he wouldn't have been labeled a ring chaser because he wouldn't have been joining a team with multiple superstars (one of which won with the franchise already). It may not be fair, but it's something that will hang over his head throughout time.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 09:28 AM) Who is the ring chaser? Is that some genius dig at Lebron? I'm very confused. Genius? Absolutely not. My guess is you haven't been following the NBA all that long if you didn't get the reference. Well, in the summer of 2010 Lebron James decided to team up with two other top 5 to top 10 players in the NBA. One of those top 5 players had been with the team already and had won a championship as the man. That was when the whole "ring chaser" thing started. I didn't come up with it on my own, unfortunately.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 09:05 AM) Apparently Wade and Bosh arent really too keen on the smaller paychecks/longer deals now. Losing out on Lowry and/or Gortat kind of limits their options on adding difference makers in this FA class, assuming they can't get Melo. The Heat's time might be done, so I'm curious what the ring chaser ends up doing.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) The Heat are going to be terrible in 2 seasons. 4 more years for Wade? 5 for Bosh? Seriously? It'll be Lebron and scrubs for the forseeable future. Lebron will be out of Miami in two years. Maybe he'll try to team up with Durant or something because I believe both will be FAs in 2016.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Anyone got espn insiders top 30 free agents? Yeah, what would you like to know about it? They use 3 year WARP to rank the players.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 09:56 PM) Ric Bucher ‏@RicBucher now Now hearing that Norris Cole would also be part of the Lowry-to-Miami deal. I don't respect Bucher at all. He once said he was 99% sure that Kobe wouldn't play for the Lakers again. It just seems like he throws stuff out there for attention. I think I might even respect Chris Broussard more than him.
  13. Alright, starting to want the people we actually drafted instead of McDermott. Harris is a nice player and I *believe* the foreign player isn't a cap hit if he stays overseas.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) Yeah but you could have had napier/ennis and a SG who can shoot. It would have given the Bulls a great mix and insurance against Rose. Instead you got a guy with no real position. Seriously its bad. I think you expect Thibs to play rookies a lot more than he actually does. McDermott seems really coachable and pretty smart. Thibs has been able to hide shooters on defense for a while too. I think it's much more likely McDermott gets playing time than the guards you wanted them to take. All this depends on whether or not the Bulls get Melo though, because I wouldn't be a big fan of this trade if we don't.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 08:06 PM) Yeah, this isn't baseball...
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 07:15 PM) I like how they explain away Smart's problems as "competitive". Ron Artest was competitive too, he also was insane and became a detriment. He is also an NBA champion and won a DPOY. I think most teams would be okay if Smart had a career like Ron Artest's
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) And Durant was wayyy too skinny and Anthony was never going to develop an offensive game. How laughable in retrospect but the very same articles were there. It's easy to forget when they become allstars. While Wiggins didn't live up to expectations I'd still say those same expectations are a big part of the hype he's getting. I'd argue Jabari lived up to the hype but that's me. If you really believe that people think this is the best draft has little to do with the potential superstardom I don't know what to tell you. Take Wiggins and Parker out and replace them with depth like two Aaron Gordon clones and you'd laugh at someone saying that. Nooooo chance. Rose's stock rose way to say that. Edit: I'd even give you Beasley maybe but honestly a lot of his hype was based on making strange parallels to Durant that weren't there. And I meant Anthony Davis above obviously, not Carmelo. Yes, but bodies can fill out. Durant averaged 26 and 11 as a true freshman, shot 40% from 3 on over 2 makes per game. He was absolutely dominant. Anthony Davis was drawing Kevin Garnett type comparisons (combined with Marcus Camby). He was the best big guy prospect since oden. The guy averaged a double double with about 5 blocks per game as a freshman. Wiggins and Parker are fine prospects, with obvious holes like I pointed out, but they wouldn't be taken over those two guys.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:20 PM) And also because of the superstar talent at the top. I don't know what you're reading or listening to, but everything I've heard is that there are no top 5 players in the nba type guys in this draft, but tons of all star level talents. There are some pretty big holes in the top two players games.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Not really. It's still widely seen as the top draft in 11 years that they are the definite top tier of. The depth of this draft is why people are rating it that high.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:12 PM) At the time of the draft? No way except for maybe Anthony, but that's why I said 11 years. Obviously these guys all ended up working out but hindsight is 20/20. They did not have the hype at the time of the draft that Parker and Wiggins do now. Honestly the right to Greg Oden is the best argument since 2003. You're overrating their hype. It was much more coming out of high school than it is now. Durant dominated as a freshman in college. He was better than Parker. Parker can't play defense and doesn't have a true position. Wiggins has a ton of upside, but is pretty far behind in terms of offensive skills. I've read scouting reports that said he can't really pass or dribble right now. Anthony Davis may have been the most dominant college player I've ever seen. These two guys wouldn't have gone ahead of durant and Davis.
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) Hey I was drinking the orange coolaid (when am I not). Just get me a PG and one of Bragg or Thomas and I will dance nekked around the house. Give me Jawun Evans and I'm a happy camper. He has been killing it lately. Anything on top of that is amazing. Also, AllMetroHoops ‏@ehoopsshowcase 9m Doral Moore says his list down to UK, Ohio State, Florida, Wake and Illinois #NBPATop100Camp
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:53 PM) Butler, Gibson, Mirotic, the two picks and Boozer's contract could help Minnesota. Yeah, Windhorst was on ESPN radio yesterday and said he thought that an offer like that was better than the Thompson offer if the Bulls wanted to do it.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) I don't think the Bulls have a player to match Thompson. Noah is older, more expensive, and isn't nearly as dynamic of a scorer. Thompson is due for a contract extension soon and Noah is a much, much, much more impactful player overall right now.

Ugh, the match-ups in that final draw looked so promising. I wasn't so happy with what they had to do though.
  25. People vastly underrate Bosh on here. He was extremely important in the Heat's defense for all these years hedging the PnR and has tried to change his game to benefit his team at the detriment of his own numbers. The offensive scheme for the Heat that is predicated on spacing the floor for Lebron and Wade made Bosh play primarily away from the basket. He shot 48% from 16 feet to the three point line and ~36% from 3. he took much less shots in closer range than he did in Toronto. He's an athletic 4 that can defend and shoot. He showed some post game in toronto where he averaged 24-11. He isn't an anchor defensively, but we have Noah for that.
