QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 10:38 AM) I'd love to see a team try to defend it. Wouldn't the big defenders just switch?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 02:06 PM) I kind of hope they do. I think Lebron paired with Wiggins for a long time is a lot scarier than Love. Love will give that instant boost, but Wiggins will be better in the long run +1

Sounds like mudiay will be going overseas instead of playing for smu next year. Eligibility issues. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 02:19 PM) Yup McDermott does a lot more than Morrison. Morrison did nothing well except shoot 3s in college. McDermott has a lot more to his game. You're way off. I do think McDermott has a better career than Morrison though due to his shooting,

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) Put Irving on the Cavs from '08-'10 and they win at least one ring. LeBron by himself is worth about 35 wins. LeBron/Irving is 50 easy. And Cleveland is not close to being done. The Bulls had a chance to finally leap to the top of the conference and they blew it once again. Yeah. Add Kyrie Irving to that 66 win team in 09 and they win at least 75-80, right? I love hypothetical situations.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) The world isn't ending and the Bulls aren't winning. Just as in previous years. When rose gets hurt you will be correct. Until then it's just speculation. Lebron made the finals one time in his career without wade and bosh. The east is terrible. If you get to the finals anything can happen.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) We have a supporting cast that does one thing well: play defense. That's great and all, but we also need people to score. Which is why mirotic, Gasol, and mcdermott were added. Not to mention we might add more pieces. People are overreacting. Melo would have obviously made the bulls better, but the world isn't ending.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:07 PM) Eh, we need one healthy superstar and a great supporting cast. We don't have either right now really lol. We have a fantastic supporting cast. I mean, one of the guys won DPOY and was first team all nba.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) Swype auto corrected mvp People forget just how good that bulls team was that year. This bulls team is better on paper and they don't have to face the heat's defense in the playoffs.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) It's a playoff team with a very very slim chance at winning it all with map style rose. What does "map style" mean?
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 12:46 PM) Fixed. If rose is healthy you would be wrong... He'll likely get hurt though.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) The big problem there is acting like Cleveland was obviously the better basketball decision. There is substantial basketball risk there. You're depending on a complete s***head in Kyrie Irving and a big, unrefined question mark in Wiggins. Also, Dion Waiters, Anthony Bennett, and 30-45 games of Anderson Varejao. To me, he couldn't have been bulls***ting in a big way because it didn't make sense to go to Cleveland except if it meant a lot of him to succeed in Cleveland. If he wanted to win more or win with a young team, there were better options. Houston and Chicago could have accommodated him and created unbelievable juggernauts. Phoenix has a very tantalizing young core. Cleveland was only in the discussion because that's where he's from. That he even went there means there was more than desiring a public BJ from sportswriters. I also like the sleight of hand where he pretends LBJ gets more money by going to Cleveland They have tons of assets and you better believe that Lebron thinks they're going to get Love with some of those assets, so yes, it was obviously a better basketball decision. If Kyrie doesn't get it together, he'll be on the trading block and I'm sure tons of teams would still be interested in acquiring him.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 05:03 PM) Agree 100% http://deadspin.com/lebron-james-tells-the...dium=socialflow Yup. Does anyone actually think he would be going back "home" if the cavs didn't have the amount of talent they have and Miami was still in a good position? With all that said, this is being played perfectly by Lebron.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) I'd still take Love all day everyday. Love is a top 10 player. Wiggins may be that one day, in fact, he may be much better. But having both him and LeBron seems redundant. Wiggins helps their defense a lot and can take some pressure off of Lebron and guard the opposing teams best wing player. However, they have to trade him for love. The roster as currently constructed has some serious spacing issues for Lebron and love is the absolute perfect offensive player to pair along side him and Kyrie. Maybe the cavs are playing hardball and think their offer with other young pieces and picks will eventually win out, but if they miss out on love it can legit cost them championships.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) By the time the playoffs start, the Cavs would have played 82 regular season games, however many preseason games, and countless hours of practice. They'll have meshed. I mean, LeBron was in Miami for 4 years and over the last 4 years, the Eastern Conference representative has been the Miami Heat. That's not a coincidence. Basically, the [City] [LeBron's] are the favorite to reach the NBA Finals in the [Direction] Conference. No. In the Eastern conference, yes, but not in "[Direction] Conference". You're also giving a bit too much credit to Lebron. Bosh is being signed to a max deal for a reason and Wade played fine for most of the playoffs, although the Eastern conference is a joke.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:53 AM) Did not sign though. He's extremely loyal to the Mavs. He's staying there.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) We'll agree to disagree, LeBron had a team that was pretty good defensively, you're asking too much of youngsters like Wiggins, Kyrie, Bennett etc to become good defensively right away. It takes time to develope. Unless the Cavs completely change their roster, they'll be a young team that'll need to play together a while to start getting close to their potential. Also, who knows how that coach they hired turns out. Sorry, I just see them as automatic contenders. Wiggins will be good defensively from day one, but I agree with your general premise. Teams usually take time to mesh. The celtics were different because you teamed up 3 veterans near their prime and they had stellar coaching.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:07 PM) lol@all of this. LeBron/Love+Irving would be like Garnett/Allen+Pierce in '08. They'd be devastating offensively. Defensively there would be some question marks (have to see what the roster would like around them). But defensive schemes have become so good that you can cover up multiple weaknesses in that area. No east team outside of maybe Toronto would have a legit chance of beating them. Not all teams run these great defensive schemes well. Coaching matters quite a bit and we don't know how the new cavs coach is going to be. You have to remember that those celtics teams not only had doc rivers at the helm, but also had Thibs coaching defense. The cavs would easily be the favorite in the east. Easily. The east is a joke. I don't see them beating the spurs, thunder, or rockets in a finals though.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:41 AM) I think they would do that in a heartbeat Yeah, I think both teams would.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) If Cleveland gets Love, it'll come with the price tag of Wiggins. Yup, but it would make perfect sense for a team getting Lebron. Love stretches the floor and is the type of big they desperately need to surround him there. Thompson and Varajeo can't stretch the floor at all. The roster as currently constructed would get killed in the finals because of the lack of spacing for Lebron. Trading for Love helps a ton.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) A NY writer said all the James to Cleveland hype is being generated by the Cavs to save face for losing him in 2010. I don't really buy that, but if it is true and it basically shames LeBron to come back, it's a genius move. If there was no interest from the Lebron side, why wouldn't he have his agent or team come out and squash the whole thing. He didn't have to meet with them either.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) To be fair, he's very athletic for a 6'10 kid, and has exceptional passing ability. The downside is he's an athletic 6'10 kid that plays like a SF. This is the same NBA where Gordon Hayward might be getting a max deal, while Lance Stephenson is fighting for 12M. He definitely has hops, but his lateral quickness isn't all that great. If he had good lateral quickness there wouldn't be as much downside to a 6'10 kid that plays SF.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) BTW, did anyone listen to the Simmons/Lowe podcast from yesterday? Simmons made the argument that in his opinion all of the Lakers stuff with Melo is just negotiating ploy so that New York would do a sign and trade with the Bulls. Without the Lakers the Knicks could pretty easily call Melo's bluff that he wants to leave since he'd be leaving a ton of money (what, like 30 million or so?) on the table. But the difference with the sign and trade with the Lakers isn't nearly as much and is much more "acceptable." Thus, the Knicks really could lose Melo for nothing, so they may be enticed by what the Bulls can offer them: Boozer + 2 first round picks. They had some examples of what 1st round picks were going for in terms of taking on contracts and Boozer's 16-17 million was really pretty reasonable. For a team with no picks in the coming seasons. Yeah, I listened and it sounded like they both felt the Bulls were in it (Simmons predicted Melo to the Bulls at the end). They both talked about how scary the Bulls team looks with Melo. I was getting pretty excited about the whole thing, although I knew to take it with a grain of salt. They made an interesting point about Lebron getting Rich Paul's name out there because he is invested in the agency. That's a really interesting angle that I never thought of with the whole Cleveland thing.

This is ridiculous.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) Honestly the longer it draws out, the better for the Bulls in my opinion. If it was all about money it'd be done. Also, lol at the Cavs. They could have drafted Len, Noel, Oladipo or McLemore last year over Bennett. Or Andre Drummond the year before over Waiters. And Valančiūnas before then over Tristan Thompson We could have been looking at Kyrie - Wiggins - LeBron - and then any of the two above bigs. Butterfly effect. I think if they draft a guy like Drummond over Waiters they might not be in the lottery this year.
