  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) Maybe we'll make a trade with the Dodgers while we're out there. Oh yeah? Who you looking for us to trade for?
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:42 PM) We'll see Lowe, Stults, and Kershaw. 2 LHP's not good, Lowe will GIDP us to death with that sinker, and two leftys we have never seen before tends to speak trouble for us...
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) My favorite thing in the world is watching the Sox strand lead off doubles. That Thome pop-up to the left side of the infield on Friday will haunt me forever...JUST MOVE THE RUNNER OVER!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Anybody know the pitching matchups out in Dodger Stadium this week? Hope we can win that series or the division lead will be gone...
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) I'd take Derosa over Ramirez I concur, i'm a huge alexei fan but until he shows the big skill over the course of a whole season, i would take derosa easily
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) If you watched no games this whole year except these last 3 on mute and you didn't look at any stats that pop up at the bottom, I wouldn't know if I wanted Patterson or Quentin, honestly. He may not have hit any HRs this weekend but I think CQ has done pretty well this weekend..5-9, if everybody could hit and get on base like him instead of aiming for the fences, maybe we could have at least one this weekend
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) He's a Sox fan, was at the World Series in 2005... Well then maybe I can actually think about voting for him...

  12. It's raining pretty well out in the NW burbs right now, wonder if the game will start on time, how the weather is on the North Side?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) They were trying to catch them asleep. I didn't see the play, but it sounds like Longoria made an awesome play just to get the out. Yeah, Longoria was playing even or just behind the bag and had to run to about the pitchers mound and bare hand it. There are very few 3B in the league that could have made the play. His defense has been pretty hyped up for a rookie but he looked damn good on that play.
  14. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 06:55 AM) Ensberg drops off at 32 and it could be PEDs. Another guy goes from a non starter to leading the league in HRs, and that specualtion is wrong. I assume you are talking about CQ. He was always a high-rated prospect who got hurt and it seems like they have been cracking down on it, so I would assume he wasnt on the juice. But nowadays you never know with anyone, I mean, even Jim freaking Parque was in the Mitchell Report.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 07:30 AM) I don't think Ensberg has ever been close to the top 5 in any kind of MVP voting. He wasn't that good in 05. 2005 stats: .283 BA, 86 R, 36 HR, 101 RBI, 6 SB, .557 SLG 2005 NL MVP voting: 1 Albert Pujols STL 18 378 2 Andruw Jones ATL 13 351 3 Derrek Lee CHC 1 263 4 Morgan Ensberg HOU 0 160 | 5 Miguel Cabrera FLA 0 146
  16. Talk about a guy falling off the map in no time at all, in 05 I think he was top 5 in MVP voting...makes you wonder about the performance enhancers... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AmpL...p&type=lgns MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—The New York Yankees designated infielder Morgan Ensberg for assignment Sunday and recalled right-hander Scott Patterson for another option out of the bullpen. Ensberg, once thought to be a rising star with Houston, last played six days ago. His fate was probably realized when Alex Rodriguez was hurt. While A-Rod was on the disabled list from April 30 to May 20, Ensberg hit .185 with one RBI in 27 at-bats in nine games—six starts—at third base. For the season, the 32-year-old Ensberg was batting just .203 with one extra-base hit, a homer, and four RBIs in 74 at-bats. Three years ago, Ensberg hit .283 with 36 homers and 101 RBIs for the Astros. After a 12-inning game on Saturday, manager Joe Girardi wanted another reliever. Patterson, one of the last cuts at the end of spring training, allowed one run over 1 1-3 innings in his major league debut Sunday against Minnesota. “We have some decisions to make over the next few days, but for the short term this is what we’re going to do,” Girardi said before New York’s 5-1 loss to the Twins. More moves will be coming for the Yankees next week, with catcher Jorge Posada due back Thursday from his rehabilitation of a sore shoulder. Girardi also said he wanted another long reliever as a backup for Joba Chamberlain, who’s set to start on Tuesday.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) Actually, Dye isn't in a slump. But, while on topic of slumps, it's not just PK and Thome, but it's Swisher, too. And even Cabrera, though hot lately, hasn't lived up to what he's supposed to be. Yeah, I meant Swisher as the 3rd of the guys in slumps, cause he is sucking it up. Dye is close to what you would expect from him. and I know everyone dislikes Cabrera but I think by the end of the year he will produce what is expected from him.
  18. The worst thing is can you imagine how good he would be if he didn't have his drug/alochol problems when he was 19? If he had those 7 years back to develop his game with the talent he has, he might be better than A-Rod right now...
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) Thanks for nothing Rockies. Work will be a lot of fun tomorrow. Work is nothing. My fiancee is a Cubs fan, thats all that she can talk about the whole time... We met in October 2005 though, so she knows how that goes...
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) I'll gladly take a 3-3 series against them. yeah, they can rake at home, win 2 at comiskey, and steal one on the north side, i will be happy
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 12:44 AM) The records now are whatever you see them to be. Sadly, the chemistry experiment owns both records in MLB's book due to Selig's cowardly approach to PED's in the 1990's and that can't be changed. However, fans know what truly went down, and the records really are whatever each individual fan sees them as. The sacred status of baseball records is gone for all eternity, as is the fact they were undeniable numbers that stood on their own merit. I completly agree as well. I think the true test will be how long it takes for someone else to hit 60 HR's in one season other than Sosa, McGwire, Bonds. If Utley, Braun, or Quentin does it this or next year then maybe the roids were not an effect. But if it takes like 10 years for one guy to do it then I think it will show the real effect of the drugs on the game.
  22. Wow. This thread is crazy. We are in first place on June 1. The second placeeam is the Twins who we know is too young to take the division. The Indians are like 6 back, their bullpen still sucks, and all of a sudden they forgot how to hit. The Tigers are like 9 back. I think we are looking pretty good, especially since 3 of our power hitters are in a alump for the first two months
  23. This might have been said, but what can Kenny really do? The biggest problems in the lineup are Thome, Konerko, and Swisher and you cant send any of those guys to the minors or just cut them. Ozzie just needs to tweak the lineup and maybe bench a couple of those games for a couple days. Let BA play a couple days in a row or something like that. I still think the best idea is to fire Walker but its been proven that they wont do that, so time for plan B.
