  1. Cowley is saying that it happened from punching a locker in Boston... http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...n090508.article
  2. QUOTE (MEANS @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) dam this sucks if true, anyone with confirmation yet? I've looked around everywhere, no website reporting it yet...and we all know that both Jesse and Bruuuuce have been known to be wrong on more than one occasion....
  3. From the Sun-Times: Tests good so far, but awaiting more results this afternoon. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...x090508.article
  4. Looking at the Twins schedule... 2-1 vs. Det 2-1 vs. KC 1-2 at Bal 2-1 at Cle 1-3 at TB 2-1 vs. SOX 3-0 vs. KC With these guesses, they would finish the the season 13-9, overall record of 90-72, game behind us if we finish 13-10...i am assuming KC wins at least one of 6 in the Twinkie Dome, but i could easily see clevelend taking 2 or 3 at home...
  5. We better take advantage, and hit this guy hard early, although only two of our guys have ever faced him, which with this team has recently meant that we get shut out... Swisher 1-6, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K Thome, 1-1, 1 HR, 2 RBI
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 09:34 AM) Nobody tell Hawk!!! With the Twins in the midst of a pennant race, manager Ron Gardenhire said Thursday that Carlos Gomez will see reduced playing time. About time. Gomez was handed the starting center field gig in spring training and has held it all season despite hitting just .252/.289/.341 in 130 games. He's hit .230/.271/.289 with a hideous 69/13 K/BB ratio since June 1 and has just 11 steals over the past 80 games after running a ton early on. Denard Span will play center field when Gomez is benched, with Randy Ruiz and Matt Tolbert likely picking up additional at-bats. With his base-running skills, reminds me of Michael Bourn from the Stros...Doesn't matter how good you are at stealing bases, you cant steal first base.
  7. I was looking for somewhere to enjoy Toronto's beatdown of the Twins and their bullpen with fellow Sox fans and the site just wasnt working...thank god its back
  8. Looking at this video, looks fair to me, right over the foul pole...either way, that ball was freakin crushed! http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?mid=200809033416587
  9. Way to go Bobby! He definitely has molded himself from just being a power pitcher throwing 100, to being a smart pitcher, getting DP grounders, outs whenever he needs them...
  10. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) If Linebrink shuts down the 8th i'll be gitty! Because then we actually have hope going down the stretch run. I agree, but if he comes in and loses the game for us, it is gonna take away just as much hope for the rest of September as well
  11. good work thornton, wonder if he will see linebrink in the 8th, since ozzie said he wouldnt bring him in a late-inning situation yet...
  12. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) where's Boone Logan? Hopefully back in San Antonio
  13. wow, that was a great offensive inning right there
  14. We need some insurance runs here, with the way Javy pitched last inning and they way our bullpen has been, not sure if 4 runs will be enough to win...
  15. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) Swisher tried to walk on ball 3. Hawk and DJ were saying that if it was AJ, he would have convinced the umps that it actually was ball 4... Doug Eddings probably would have went for it
  16. With the injuries to CQ, & Jr., i dont mind this lineup. Didn't realize Fields got called up too. Whatever people might think of the lineup though, it definitely is better than Clevelands at least... G. Sizemore cf D. Dellucci dh B. Francisco lf J. Peralta ss S. Choo rf R. Garko 1b S. Fasano c A. Marte 3b A. Cabrera 2b
  17. Zambrano possibly injured, going to see the doctor tomorrow...anything happens to him, that definitely hurts their World Series hopes.... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,6935531.story
  18. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) I think the game hinges on the Sox ability to resist swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. Patient teams can coax alot of walks out of Carmona. If we're up there hacking instead, like we have a tendency to... we could be looking up at the Twins tomorrow. The thought of our lineup having to be patient at the plate doesn't exactly add confidence to our chances of winning tonight...
  19. With our lilneup facing a 22-year old making his 1st career start, we should score a lot of runs....but I have seen way too many white sox teams over the past few years get shut down by rookie pitchers that I'm not very confident....
  20. Farmer and Stoney totally said the same thing, they said they were surpised they didn't send Ellsbury, and that the fans agreed by booing, til they suddenly realized Youkilis was up and kind of just stopped talking about it...
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) Link. PTBNL. Great move, sorry Mets, but the NL East race is now ova!!!
  22. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 07:40 AM) I generally try not to watch the scoreboard during most of the season. It's just too damn long of a season and I like to smooth out the bumps. Now I'm checking the other games and catching the fever. And it's not the kind of fever that is cured with more cowbells. I'm laughing at Cleveland and their The pennant race fever and scoreboard watching is one of my favorite things about baseball....every single day there is a game with not only your team, but with their closest competitor, that can directly affect your postseason life... wed. afternoon, driving home, at the gym, wherever I was, i had my cell phone on the MIN/SEA gamecast the entire time, following it intensely hoping for the sweep (damn you sean green)...
