QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 27, 2017 -> 08:50 AM) Especially considering they won't be able to spend all their cap space even if they tagged him. That's my problem. Even if it is a huge overpay, what the hell else are you spending money on? Might as well keep Alshon since you have so much cap space anyway. -
QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 26, 2017 -> 07:13 PM) If Toews is really "back", this is a totally different team. It's a legit Stanley Cup contender without a doubt
-
Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, Trump eats his steak well done. With ketchup!
-
If the 1st line keeps clicking, I love the thought of Kruger and Hossa on the 3rd line, that's the depth you need to win a Cup.
-
Wild give up a 1st, 2nd, and a conditional that could become a 2nd for Hanzal. That's a lot, they are going all in.
-
Kings trade for Ben Bishop. Wild trade for Martin Hanzal, that could make things a little tougher for the Hawks

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 26, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) Wife through a surprise birthday party for me last night at TopGolf. Wow, what a fun place! It's is pretty cool, and each pod has heaters so it's open all winter in Chicago.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Feb 26, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) Bill Paxton 61.. due to complications from surgery. He was so sleazy and nasty in True Lies, one of the many things that make that movie so awesome.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) Hawks send a third round pick to Detroit for Tomas Jurco. With the first line en fuego and the draft in Chicago, I imagine that's the biggest move they make.

NCAA basketball thread 2016-17

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) The conference did change a bit 3 years ago but in their last 150 conference games in the Big East, DePaul is 21-129. I wonder if their new arena will do anything for them. I was at the Allstate a few weeks ago for a show, it's funny seeing all of the banners up. Lots of NCAA appearances and Sweet 16 in the 1970s-1980s. Then the the 1990s and 2000s, lucky to see a few NIT banners, and that's about it. -
Everybody gets a hat trick!

Why was Harold Baines number retired?
-
I don't know what is more surprising, that people think Sale should have his jersey retired or that Buehrle shouldn't. If this were the Yankees, then hell no it shouldn't be retired. But it's the White Sox with two WS appearances and one title in 86 years and he was a huge part of the title, and the face of the franchise before and after. Zero question whether #56 or #14 should be retired. I won't be able to attend as apparently I have a wedding in the mountains of North Carolina that weekend.
-
I had been reading that Bulls games have been pretty sparsely populated recently. Any of you guys go a lot that have seen this? I know the attendance figures are technically high but the Bears have shown how quickly the bottom can fall out even if tickets are "sold".

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 06:07 PM) It appears that if you win the PL, you get sacked the next season. Ask Jose Mourinho. No matter if you manage the Red Sox or the Rays.(MLB comparison ) I know it's a different animal because relegation is such a big deal, but damn.

Jon MorosiVerified account@jonmorosi 25m25 minutes ago More . @jose_quintana24 will start against @USABaseball in the @WBCBaseball opener, Colombian manager Luis Urueta just told me. @MLB @MLBNetwork

8 months after the most surprising championship ever, Leicester City fires (or "sacks") their head coach. I watched their CL game yesterday , after getting dominated in the first half, they actually played well in the 2nd and salvaged only a 2-1 away deficit.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 07:47 AM) Isn't that a good thing in a season where they are rebuilding? edit: As long as it's not one of the young rebuilding pieces that is. That's why I always said during this past Bears season. If there's any year to get destroyed by the injury bug, it's better when you have no chance to compete and need a better draft pick. As long as it's not the young guys like the Leonard Floyd concussions.

Might as well try and get something for Cutler, but trade or no trade, there's about a 0.001% chance he's on the roster in September. His cap hit is now minimal if he is released. -
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 09:15 PM) Nick Schmaltz looks insanely good tonight. Toews line built out of thin air. That pass on goal #4 was just sick. Toews with the hatty and five point game, great win. If neither team gets upset in the 1st round, this is gonna be a great second round series.

Anybody ever heard of this new dumpster/trash company named Rubicon? It's a new start-up that claims to be the "Uber" of trash companies and are all environmentally friendly. They seem to be offering a great price to switch to them, but still haven't figured out what the catch is.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 19, 2017 -> 01:40 AM) I thought they played damn well. Could have certainly won 5-1 it felt like. Yeah they came to play, it just didn't work out. But 5-1 happened tonight, great performance in Buffalo.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 19, 2017 -> 07:55 PM) Yeah, i'm done with the all-star game. What a terrible weekend all around. I DVRed the dunk contest. Any reason to watch or should I just delete it?

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Adam Dunn is what caused this rebuild! They finished 12 games out of a playoff spot so they needed help, but it's funny to think how different this could all be if Adam Dunn didn't have the worst season in the 140 year history of baseball.
