  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) You have to give him some credit. He ran for President not to serve but to make money for himself and his family. It seems like it is working. He got me on that part of it. I thought it was strictly a 100% ego thing, I never caught on to him trying to increase his net worth. My first thought was it will cost him money and worth because he will be so disliked, but he is making money so far.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) "He would have never won any Super Bowls without Brady" You could say that with just about every coach. Wouldn't have won without their hall of fame QB. 51 Super Bowl winners. 41 have been won with hall of fame quarterbacks or will be hall of fame quarterbacks. 42 if you consider Joe Flacco a hall of famer. The others had historically good defenses. Bears, Bucs, Giants, Raiders, Redskins.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) Yes. He's either a genius, or Brady is the GOAT and it isn't even close. I'm sick of the Patriots, but it's amazing what they do, and again, they have more productive 4th round and lower picks, and other teams' castoffs than anyone. It's obviously a combination of both. Belichick doesn't make 7 Super Bowls with Smoking Jay, but Brady doesn't make 7 Super Bowls in Jacksonville. I do completely agree with your second point, and that is the most impressive thing the Pats do. Look at Shea McClellin contributing. And when their best players want to get paid, they either accept the Patriots offer or they are left behind and quickly replaced without skipping a beat. Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins, Wes Welker, Richard Seymour, etc.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) Umm they got Jonathan Cooper in that trade who was cut and signed with 3 separate teams this year. He wasn't the Patriots starter. Along with Cooper, they got the 61st pick in the draft from AZ, which they traded to New Orleans for the 78th and 112th, which became starting LG Joe Thuney and Mitchell. It may say more about their skill in finding players, but the draft pick they got for Chandler Jones had a direct effect on their SB win.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) One guy who has been a beast since his return is Schmaltz. You notice him on the ice a lot more than before he got sent down. True, I have found myself yelling "Schmaltzie!" at my TV a lot more. In a good way
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 01:01 AM) So I was at the game tonight. First live game ive seen all year. I gotta tell ya, the lines we run are pretty deep. We effect the other team with our 3rd and 4th line pretty frequently these days. Hartman is kind of a nice surprise with his points. He's relentless. He's out performing Shaw and isnt nearly as dumb. Shaw has f***ing 88 Penalty min for god sakes. Lazerus just wrote article this week in the Sun-Times about how the difference with the 3 Cup champions was not the superstars, it was the depth on the 3rd and 4th lines. If they keep improving and you can play those guys freely, maybe they have a chance in April & May.
  7. The explanation was that they couldn't determine the exact moment the puck actually touched his stick. Meh. Good to see the young guys scoring some goals, cause the Wild have been better
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) The rendering chipset is going bad. It'd probably require a logic board replacement...I had this happen to my Vizio about a year ago -- I called them and played kinda stupid on the phone...they replaced my TV for free and it was out of warranty. The service tech came with some parts, opened up the back of the TV, and determined hee couldn't fix it with those parts. The actual screen itself is messed up. He said it is possible to repair it, but now it's up to Costco whether or not it's cost efficient for the warranty. It's a 60 inch TV so might be worth the labor, who knows. Now I wait 2-3 business days until Costco gets back to me.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) Yeah...he figured that the best QB of all time can make a good coach look like a genius. I'm fairly certain if you gave Aaron Rodgers to Lovie, he'd look like a genius too, same with a lot of other coaches. Not knocking Bill, but I tend to believe he gets more credit then he deserves. The Pats have made their fare share of bad moves, including the Chandler Jones trade. They also let Wes Welker walk to sign Amedola and in hindsight I think that was a poor move. You are selling him way short and those are two bad examples anyhow. The Jones trade netted them their starting left guard all season and a good young receiver in Malcolm Mitchell. Plus, they still won the Super Bowl. And Wes welker hasn't played a football game in 1.5 seasons while Amendola is still a Patriot so that worked out pretty well too. That's why the "downgraded " to a guy on the right side of 30.
  10. The annual email from Ted Phillips arrived today. Despite the worst season in almost 40 years, season tickets prices will increase 1 to 4%. But it's the first increase in 3 years, so we got that going for us.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) I'm looking at the numbers in the 3 years before he hit FA and thinking he might be in that 2/$20 range? Maybe longer and a little more money than Napoli et al. since he had hit better than them, but was never an all around star? Although I just noticed Trumbo got 3/$37 at age 31 and Dunn's numbers are more consistent and has a far higher OBP. Seeing how teams are ignoring power, it's an interesting thought, but it's also hard to forget the worst season in the history of baseball Dunn immediately provided after signing.
  12. BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR TONIGHT!!!! If they lose tonight, then they pretty much are just playing to stay warm for the last two months, barring a major losing streak by them or the Wild.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) He's laying the groundwork to blame the judiciary if/when there's some sort of attack. That's gonna be the worst. At some point, there will be an attack by a Muslim. And he will just get so excited and use it to back up all of his EOs. Even if it ends up being an American born, internet-radicalized person who reached the tipping point BECAUSE of Trump.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 04:01 PM) Bob Nightengale @BNightengale The #Yankees have agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with Chris Carter, pending a physical. What would 31-year old Adam Dunn get in this market?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 08:20 AM) 7 days into their administration they canceled the visas of somewhere between 60-100,000 people who held legal visas, detained hundreds of people at airports with no warning for several days, let at least one person we know of die because of a visa cancellation, ordered DHS to seize and investigate people's social media accounts upon entry to the country, and in the process wound up sweeping up travelers from a variety of other countries and even U.S. citizens if they also had backgrounds in those countries. Please, continue. #AlternativeFacts http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-trave...iraq-mom-2017-2
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) And all but two Republican Senators. Disappointed in how McCain seems to.be all talk.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Money talks, and always will. From alderman on up to the top of the food chain. You can literally buy anything in this country. This isn't the first or last high level position to be bought. But most career politicians have enough respect for the office to require at least a slightly deserving resume from.their bidders. Not the Donald.
  18. Claude Julien fired (same day as the Pats parade of course). Coach Q is now the longest tenured coach in the NHL
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Steve Sarkisian is leaving Alabama to become the OC of the Atlanta Falcons. God I hope Chip Kelly is the next OC at Alabama. Are you a Bama fan? He would most likely kill it there.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) Mully used to have a segment of his show called the Draft War Room and specifically talk draft. This morning he barely knew who Patrick Mahomes was and wasn't sure if all the juniors had declared for the draft yet. Ha. Obviously it's been a while since I listened to them.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) I know it's not the point of the discussion but Mully and Hanley are f***ing terrible. I always enjoyed their Bears coverage simply because they cover them for a living (or at least one of them does). They are very knowledgeable about that stuff, but overall they don't bring much to the table entertainment wise.
  22. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:08 AM) Isn't this unfair to anyone who ends up with the same number for each side? If you have 3,3 your options for winning are lowered if the pool doesn't pay a tie at the end of the 4th quarter. 3,3 is way more likely than 5,2. You still have 13-3, 23-3, 23-13.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) Right now the value is $0 until it's returned Whoever ends up trying to sell it has to have a very good explanation as to how they acquired it
