2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) Please answer this truthfully. In a hypothetical situation, lets say a genie would assure you 100 percent that the Sox would win the WS next season and make playoffs seven of the next 10 years (only assuring the one WS crown; Sox would have to earn the rest) but the tradeoff is your beloved Hillary would LOSE to Trump and Trump would be president one term. Would you take the deal with the genie? Nothing else would be asked of you. Just this tradeoff. I'd take Putin as president if the Sox were guaranteed to win the 2017 World Series.

Congrats Chicago Cubs
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) They didn't dye the river black in 2005, did they? Maybe I missed that. No, they didn't have to, it's normally black.

Potential + Effects of the World Series?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 07:04 AM) They broke it out that year in a series against the Dodgers. I don't know if it was from specifically 1959 or just around at that time. AJ hit a walk off homer vs them and the crowd was going nuts to it. God, the Sox used to be good. That game was so awesome. Did they stop playing that at games? I had thought they made it a normal part of the stadium experience, but I don't go to many games.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) Why baseball matters. Why sports matter. Heartbreaking and beautifully written. Unfortunately, this was going to be the case for one of these fanbases no matter what. The good news is the Indians have a great young core, too. (s***ty news for us haha) This world series put me back in touch with why I love this game so much. That's really all any of this came from. Maybe it didn't for others, but IF the reason for that is your own bias, anger and hate, then I feel bad y'all missed out. Those emotions literally don't serve you in any way, and Cubs fans aren't going to stop celebrating or being obnoxious because it pisses you off... so... might as well not let it piss you off, right!? There's no winning to be had there. When exactly did you stop loving baseball? The 2014 World Series had arguably the best pitching performance ever in game 7 with the most dramatic final sequence.

Congrats Chicago Cubs
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) Sounds like Montero got drunk and was critical of Maddon on the radio today. Lol. I know Montero hit that big grand slam, but he should be happy they even put him on the playoff roster. Old man Ross was better than him at the end of the year.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) They're estimating $5 million people for the parade rally. Certainly it's not that much, they always overestimate this stuff. But how soon until we hear about how the Cubs had x more fans there than the Sox? I would hope they have more, their fanbase is at least 2-3 times larger.

Congrats Chicago Cubs
QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) You mean besides being the greatest World Series AND WS game ever played? (as long as you're looking at it objectively of course) Four of the 7 games of the greatest World Series ever had final margins of 4 runs or more. It took a while, but I finally caught the troll act.

Congrats Chicago Cubs
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) He stuck with everyone too long the last two games. He had nobody else to trust though. Maddon f***ed up with Chapman too but it worked out. Both managers were scared s***less of 80% of their pitching staff at the end, so the other 20% was used incorrectly. The Cubs had better hitters and actually play defense so they won.

Congrats Chicago Cubs
QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) I lived in Chicago for five years, and Iowa for 10 (which is all cubs fans) You can't pull that card with me. So because you lived in Chicago and Iowa, every neighbor on your block has a "W' flag on their house or window? The local New York grocery stores are covered in Cubs memorabilia because Reddy knows Cubs fans? I assume the New York Rangers will honor the Cubs at their next home game while half the fans are wearing a Cubs jersey instead of hockey gear. Amazing. Anyway, sports are fun because there are winners and losers. For every amazing moment in sports, there's somebody that's pissed.

Corey has saved 223 of 227 even strength goals this season. I hate bigger goalie contracts with the tight cap but he is making me look like a fool.

Potential + Effects of the World Series?
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) One of the coaches here at Idaho State flew to Chicago over the weekend and paid $800 dollars for a fourth row seat in the left field bleachers for Sunday. She also grabbed a BP home run. $800 dollars! Mark That's only cause the Cubs were down 3-1. That ticket would have cost over $2000 on Friday or Saturday. Either way, that is a secondary market price, not face value going to the Cubs.

Ken Williams Should be on the Hot Seat
He should have been on the hot seat for years. But he's not because he won Jerry a WS ring. /thread

Congrats Chicago Cubs
Bears: 1985 Bulls: 6 titles from 1991-1998 White Sox: 2005 Blackhawks: 3 titles from 2010-2015 Cubs: 2016 I wasn't celebrating last night, but that's a pretty good sports run for Chicago for a fan like me in my 30s. The Bears are lagging behind, but my first ever sports memory is Super Bowl XX and I watched a tape of that game daily as a 4 year old.

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) Tnanks. I was way off. Wonder how long he rides this cub train? I know he just signed a 5 year, $50 million extension, so he ain't going nowhere for the time being.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) More of a shot at the media that forgot about 2005 True, but I see it as just as much of a "don't forget that we won first".

Best team from Opening Day until the last day, not something you see that often in baseball, although things got dicey towards the end.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
"Accidentally" fell asleep putting my daughter to bed around the 5th, but woke up in time to watch the 10th with my wife. At the last out, she jumped out of bed and did a 360 two-step shimmy, lol. Good for her. Good buddy of mine is a diehard fan, spent about 5k to go to Cleveland for games 6 and 7, guess it was worth it. Just glad its finally over, we can finally return to our everyday lives. I mean, nothing has changed, right? Wait, Donald Trump is a presidential candidate?? NO, the space-time continuum has been ruined forever!

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) Not to be as ass but there's absolutely 0 chance that the Indians haven't lost 3 in a row this year. 3 games is their longest losing streak of the year. It happened 7 times. People used the longest losing streak stat and quickly turned into never lost 3 games in a row.
