  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 01:23 AM) What are the odds of Trump winning? Five percent? I dread a Hillary presidency. 0.00001%. Just write in someone else's name, and say "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for her" for the next 4 years. Problem solved.
  2. It's the top of the 7th and we just hit the 3 hour mark. Baseball has to change that, although that's part of what makes the Cubs good.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) I think I might consider starting Salazar in game 6. I feel like tonight is a tryout.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 08:10 PM) Tomlin has no prayer Friday if wind is howling out at 20 mph Might as well call the series. Only half joking. Can't believe the World Series outfield is Chisenhall, Naquin, Guyer, Crisp, Rajai Davis. That is bad.
  5. Zobrist misses the AL. Indians should have saved some runs for the non-Kluber games.
  6. Got through 4 only down 2 runs, didn't really expect more from Bauer. Just like the LA series, the inferior offense needs to score some runs.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) Sounds like alcohol was a factor. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1789372...adly-boat-crash Bummer but not surprising, wasn't the smartest idea to go out on the boat speeding at that time of the night.
  8. Jorge Soler is your next contestant in right field roulette. I guess Bauer has huge reverse splits. And Contreras catching instead of Montero, the usual for Arrieta.
  9. Was at John BarleyCorn in Lincoln Park After we celebrated and downed some shots I ran out on Lincoln to run around and scream. Some kids yelled "go back to the South Side". I yelled back I'm a life long North Sider, go White Sox! I had just met my future wife who lived a block from Wrigley, so on the way back I saw the group of people cheering in front of Wrigley and then I grabbed a beer at Cubby Bear just because I could. Probably wouldn't do that now but I felt like the man at age 23.
  10. My kids preschool is where the local early voting place so voted early for the first time, it's pretty nice to get it done with. One of these years we will get you Schawkowsky, one of these years. Pulled a Gage and did a write in for President, didn't realize that it was an option in Illinois.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) I dont know if I am ready for the stress of Bball I miss the days when I stressed about B-ball. Now I don't know even know when Illinois is playing. Maybe this winter that will change...
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) Brandon and Dan Haren are the two best twitter follows. dan haren ‏@ithrow88 13h13 hours ago Two years ago I beat Corey Kluber 1-0....Today, I walked my 2 pugs while wearing a "pug life" t-shirt. Life comes at you fast.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 10:24 PM) about time for that hilton magic when are we gonna schedule that illinois-iowa state home and home? 2025
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 07:34 AM) Kluber is really the only starting pitcher for Cleveland that can do what he did last night. The rest of the rotation is meh right now. Gonna be a bullpen battle for two games and the Cubs have the advantage with how their lineup works pitchers. Still think cubs in five. Yeah, that was an absolute must win for Cleveland because of Kluber. The Cubs should hit Tomlin and Bauer. It feels like the Indians need to win all 3 Kluber starts then sneak a victory in one of the other four games. It's more likely to happen at CLE vs. Arrieta than at Wrigley vs Hendricks or Lester.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) Miller would make Soler his b****. Ross is at least patient enough to not swing at crap. I guess you are right, but if Soler can't pinch hit then why he is even on the roster?
  16. Why did Maddon let Ross face Miller with the bases loaded instead of pinch hitting Soler? Ross was replaced defensively anyway so what was the difference? Seemed like a waste of their best opportunity, get a power bat in there.
  17. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) still find it funny the team with 103 wins doesn't get homefield Zach Britton had a major effect on the postseason after all. He saved the All Star Game
  18. The poor 1998 Chicago Fire will forever be disrespected
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) That would be tremendous, like his ability to make terrific deals. And think of all the women who would quickly make the jump to Sox fandom!

  21. Schwarber hitting 5th, Coghlan in RF, $184 million man on the bench
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) Health insurers as well underestimated the health care needs of the people who would be using the exchanges. The story here is multi-fold, with the good part being millions of people getting health care they needed but didn't have access to before. And the bad part being millions of people seeing a decline in their quality of health care they had before because they are being excluded or can no longer afford it
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) Yeah, the weirdest thing to me forever as a sox fan, is why the red sox and cubs droughts were so embedded into the lore of the sport, and then the white sox made it and ended their 88 year drought and ... it wasn't that interesting. No demons slayed. I took it as a badge of honor that we didn't care about that s*** but they hyperventilating about how "historic" this is that the cubs are in does push the buttons that middle school me would have died over. Between sharing a city with the Cubs and winning it all exactly one year after Boston did, the Sox "drought" is pretty much looked over in MLB history. That's just part of being a Sox fan.
  24. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) Mariotti probably being the sole exception. I think they got about the appropriate amount of coverage in the Chicago media. Agreed. I'd say it was pretty similar to the coverage the Blackhawks have gotten for all of their Cups. Lead the news broadcasts, interrupted TV programming for clinchers, massive coverage of the parade, etc.
  25. I know there's a lot of this going on in random threads, but this article was too awesome to not get its own. Some funny little jokes snuck in there. http://deadspin.com/remember-when-the-chic...erie-1788190631
