  1. Barkley is really starting tomorrow? Been out of the country, had no idea and going to the game. Guess I can hit up Flo and Santos earlier post game then. The 49ers game next week is gonna be huge for the #2 draft pick.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) MLS is the long-game and Jurgen didn't want to play it. I mean he got fired after 5 years. So for him as a manager looking short-term, the MLS wasn't going to help him. That might seem selfish of him, but it is what it is. Yet the Costa Ricans who play in MLS got him fired.
  3. Why do they do the alternating home sites? It can't be that difficult to host a high school game. Silly that the two best teams left have to go on the road.
  4. Maine South is in the semifinals? How did that happen? And the semifinal is in Park Ridge. Whatever works. If they do beat Palatine somehow, I would imagine Loyola steamrolls them again.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) I'm sold, let's go all-in. Sign Fowler, Cespedes, Wieters, Turner to play 2nd and Kenley Jensen I will go print the AL Central Champion banners
  6. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) I mean, I don't think it's unrealistic or unreasonable. From the late 80's to the mid 2000's it was a very good, top 25 nationally, top 5 conference, program. For a stretch it was easily top 10-15 (2000-2005) and the best in the big ten. It all culminated in 2005 when they were legitimately one of the best teams ever and then failed to deliver. Since that point it's been nothing but let downs and disappointment. Weber continually whiffed on recruits, failed to adapt to his roster's strengths and left the program in the bottom third of the conference. Groce hasn't done much to change that. What he did bring was the hope of a resurgence in recruiting and getting so close to so many top guys like Snyder and Alexandar really cemented that belief. They're nowhere close to a top tier program right now. I totally accept that. But it doesn't mean Illinois can't recapture that run that happened 10-15 years ago. From 1982-2007, they made the NCAA tourney 21 out of 25 seasons, and seven sweet 16s or better. Make the tourney nearly every year, and once out of every 4 years have a better team that can do some damage. Given how long they were able to sustain that for, I think those are realistic expectations. Although, as someone else pointed out, the decline of basketball in central Illinois may hurt the program more than you would expect.
  7. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 08:26 AM) Shahid khan? It's unbelievable the wealthiest Pakistani in the world built his empire in Urbana, IL. Yeah, the whole story is amazing. It's a true American Dream tale, by a Pakistani Muslim. (Don't tell the Donald) Given his wealth and love for sports, he own Fulham too, he could definitely be that major donor to help the sports program. I'm sure he played a part in finding the cash for Lovie.
  8. This Jacksonville Jaguars bag full of money, where did this come from?
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 05:34 AM) Gotta feel for Luke Kuechly. Shocked noone mentioned it here yet. That was sad and scary to see him cry like that with his concussion history. I had no idea it was a concussion until he was standing on his own two feet and they mentioned it. I was certain like his ankle got ripped off, Kyle Long style. Have to wonder if that's something that could end his career, given his emotional reaction.
  10. QUOTE (champagne030 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) I understand that I should do more research, but my personal experience is who is getting hosed by ACA? I've worked for a 'fairly' large corporate company (multiple companies) for the last 25 years and my insurance goes up $10-$15 per year. ACA hasn't changed that and I doubt that changes in the near future (my portion of insurance increased exactly $1/mo this year vs. last year). Is it small business owners and their workers? I'm just trying to grasp who is getting screwed. Are the rates going to down because the Republicans will now pass funding to reduce rates or is there some serious issues with ACA that are not politically motivated? You work for larger corporations, you are fine. I own a small business. I used to have multiple options with full networks. Now I have about two options, with limited doctors and hospitals, and have been facing 20-30% increases every year. Since I have an individual plan, the carriers removed the best hospitals from my network, including the top pediatrics, which was the main reason I wanted the insurance. IN order to provide for the people who couldn't have insurance before, they have stuck it to small businesses and their owners who aren't part of the larger group plans.
  11. I was gonna vote no trade, but then I remembered that 37 year old Rich Hill is the best FA pitcher on the market. And two of the top five are gone, Hellickson and 57 year old BFBC. Somebody is gonna panic.
  12. I hear Reddick's name, I think very good player. Then I watch him play and see his stats, and think maybe not. He was a dreadful pickup for the Dodgers
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) All I want is consistency from Day 1 to Day 182. The 40-man expansion in September is completely outdated and terrible for the game for the Wildcard Era. Every September I go on a rant about this. It's the worst rule cause it can completely change how a team is constructed for one month, as opposed to the first 5 months of the season.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 07:06 AM) just realized how almost all these guys were on tigers. Had their owner paid out like crazy imagine they had a rotation of Verlander Scherzer Porcello Price Fuller A $120 million rotation They had that rotation at the end of 2014 and in the playoffs. But two bullpen blow-ups and a Bud Norris masterpiece, and they were quickly swept. http://www.baseball-reference.com/postseas...014_ALDS2.shtml
  15. David Robertson did not have a good 2016 season and was a big reason the White Sox fell apart in the final 2/3 of the season. I have one argument and it's irrefutable: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/KC...201605280.shtml
  16. Kate Upton tweeted "Hey MLB, I thought I was the only one allowed to f*** Justin Verlander" Two writers from Tampa didn't even have him on their ballot.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) Who Benefits From Donald Trump's Tax Plan? spoiler: No complaints from me, ha. The child care credits should increase, they are so low now relative to the actual cost, especially in big cities.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) This is also about the worst I've ever seen Brooks play. Yeah I'm a big fan of his but he was downright awful tonight. QUOTE (aryzner @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) I turned it off. This squad is not good enough for the World Cup. Well they only have to be better than Panama, Honduras, ,and Trinidad. Or two of those teams and the 5th best in Asia, so I.wouldn't count them out yet. Thanks CONCACAF! But now would be a good time to part ways with Klinsman , before he throws his players under the bus and puts no blame on himself.
  19. That Chile - Uruguay game was amazing. It's gonna feel like a different sport watching the USMNT next.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) Every team in the majors would take Seager over Sale. He's a SS that just put up 7.5 fWAR and has 5 years of control remaining, lol. It's the same thing with the Mookie Betts trade "scenarios".
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) I think bears should pay Alshon, still. May even be blessing in disguise. It's not like the roster is filled with guys who are gonna get paid and you might have salary cap issues. You have money to spend, and Alshon is a proven talent, despite his few shortcomings.
  22. More than half of the Trump protesters arrested in Portland didn't vote
