Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
LittleHurt05 replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 06:51 AM) Speak of the devil http://nypost.com/2016/12/08/yankees-spent...ng-they-needed/ NY Post writer lamenting spending 100 million and not getting a TOR pitcher TOR? Blue Jays pitcher? -
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) Now you know how we all feel. It was all a bit. Nick Swisher 2.0. It was all fake and bad. And the crying on twitter was infuriating. The first time I saw him sprint down the 1st base line after a walk, I was like, "Man, do I hate this f***ing guy already". And it only got worse over time. But to his credit, he really improved on the field and became more than just a Grindy McGrinderson. He became a very good ballplayer, just not likeable.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) Khalil Mack destroyed my buckeyes in college and everyone was all over the left tackle (who now starts for the lions) For letting a no name MAC kid dominate him. Yeah. Turns out he's f***ing awesome. It's crazy how the #2 overall pick and future NFL DPOY could only make it to Buffalo in college. Although his Wiki page says he didn't really play football until the end of high school. This quote is awesome though: He chose to wear the uniform number 46, an unconventional number for a linebacker, as a motivational reminder that his true potential was not being recognized - 46 was the overall rating assigned to him (out of a maximum of 99) in EA Sports' college football video game, NCAA Football 11.[5]

Bernstein had linked an article this morning about how Heyward had felt uncomfortable in St. Louis and that had Fowler nervous about going there too. I guess once they opened their pocketbooks, it changed his mind. Zero chance Fowler gets booed at Wrigley in 2017, he'll get big cheers.

I had been reading about all this in Phillipines, Duarte is ruling like it's some ISIS land or something. Crazy. And of course the Donald is buddy buddy with him. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) Is Wisconsin coach Chryst the best coach in America? Except for Bama and maybe Ohio State of course. They play in a different stratosphere. Charlie Weis. He is so good multiple schools are paying him at once. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Not to beat the dead horse, but you do remember who our manager has been the last few seasons? Yes he was that bad. Not to beat the dead horse, but you do realize a manager doesn't add 10-12 wins to a baseball team? Yes he was that insignificant.

White Sox fans will show up when the team repeatedly makes the playoffs or wins the WS. That's it. That's why I have no issue with the tank job rebuild. Winning 75-82 games every year has left them bottom 5 in attendance, so what's the difference?

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Love the fraudulent Grindy-ness. I wonder which child of a Nationals player will be dubbed a team leader by Spanky. They like LaRoche in DC, he will just bring Drake with him. Then he will buy him a train pass so he can Amtrak up to Boston to see his other buddy Chris S. Somebody needs to watch over the latchkey kid while Daddy is out "fighting" child prostitution in SE Asia.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) They don't make it that far without him bottom line. Unless you think Pedro Strop was the answer it was a clinching move for them. Hector Rondon was rendered useless by his injury too. Did they "overpay" for Chapman? Sure. Was Chapman a bit disappointing? Sure But they HAD to have another reliever and flags fly forever. I read numerous Cubs fans commenting that the Chapman trade was way worse than the Eaton trade. But they are wearing 2016 WS hats so no one cares

Too long and too much money. Just when you think the franchise had changed, Yankees gonna Yankee.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) I think they're trying to replicate the Royals model. I think they are just #shook. It's one thing when you franchise player has a season-ending injury. It's another when the cornerstone of your organization is suddenly dead. What do you do all of a sudden?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Coming in second does you no good in free agency. Half of that list doesn't matter. One quarter of it happened literally a generation ago. I'd bet money that JR is dead by the time the White Sox win another division title. Your latter statement was just as true, if not more, before they traded Sale and Eaton. -
Apparently the Cubs asked for Davis in July, the Royals asked for Schwarber and the Cubs said buh bye.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
LittleHurt05 replied to Southwest Sider's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) They added Yoan Moncada to their offer. I think that's a pretty good sign the response wasn't he's a clubhouse cancer. And the Cubs added Gleybar Torres to their Yankees deal because interviews told them that Chapman was a boy scout not because they wanted to win the World Series at all costs. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) The article I read said they questioned many ex teammates about him, and the response was all positive. If there were negative responses, do really think the Red Sox would have reported it? "The consensus on this guy in the clubhouse was 50-50, but f*** it, we want to win." If only front offices were that honest. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) Supposedly the Red Sox vetted Sale pretty thoroughly. Much to the apparent dismay of many here, his ex-teammates don't consider him a monster. Merkin was defending him on Twitter from someone who said Sale was an idiot. Besides if Sale is so awful due for a meltdown, what is Kopech? Which ex-teammates and what did they say? Sources? What were the Red Sox standards when they vetted him thoroughly? He's a top 5 pitcher in all of baseball, they aren't gonna demand him to a be a quiet little boy scout. Just because they traded for him, doesn't mean he had no skeletons in the closet from the Cell, they just weren't enough to not take a risk to win the World Series. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) I get signing rehab projects and hoping to get something, but this is a guy who first of all is always hurt. OK, you get fortunate and he's healthy. Secondly, gives up a lot of home runs. Not good where the Sox play. Third, throws very few groundballs. Again, not good on the southside of Chicago. He's the kind of guy who is behind the eight ball if things go his way. There has to be someone out there to if it all goes right, has a decent chance of success. Holland just needs too many miracles to get something of value for him. Then you cut him, big deal. The guys with a decent chance of success are probably have much better suitors
-
At first I thought this was referring to Greg Holland, I was very confused. Derek Holland would be a great signing, you need someone to start, and if he does well, flip him at the deadline.

Your response to Sale getting traded to the Red Sox
LittleHurt05 replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 12:23 AM) And that is no fault of his. It's the fault of our front office and scouting departments and people who thought hiring Robin Ventura as manager was a good idea. Your post is kind of insulting to Sale. He's a World Series caliber player and it's not his fault our organization has been an utter joke since Ozzie's last year and a half. So is Alex Rios, 2015 World Series champion
