Jensen Back to Dodgers

This should wrap up the free agent closer market, I highly doubt the Dodgers offer more money than Chapman got from the Yankees for Jansen. I'd be shocked if they did.

Interesting....that said, I think he'd take a bit less to stay in LA.

Unless, actually, the Dodgers match. If they match I think it's a no brainer for Jansen to go back to LA.

If Jansen doesn't accept the Marlins offer, Robertson for Jarlin Garcia...who says no Sox or Marlins?

I agree with this as well. LA is so much more desirable a destination than Miami, in terms of being on a competitive team.

Hope he signs and then Turner goes elsewhere. Dodgers come running to us for Robertson/Frazier

Yep...ideal scenario for RH.

I must say, if I could pay Jansen 5/$75, or Robertson 2/$25, and give up maybe 1 top 100 guy, I would take the latter option in a freaking millisecond.

The Marlins are so stupid. Giving up a first round pick to sign a closer when you have no starting pitching and a mediocre at best lineup is so foolish.

I think they're trying to replicate the Royals model.

Good for Marlins. They will fail, but some teams need to compete.

THE OPPOSITE, THOUGH IN TERMS OF PRICING STRATEGY

That model was predicated on scrap heap signings (Blanton/Wang/Chris Young/Madson), being cabled together with an impressive core of arms developed internally.

Hochevar was a high profile starting failure, then 6th-7th inning guy...but they obviously hit big with Herrera as a Latin American signing and then Wade Davis in the James Shields trade.

Not to mention having a veteran closer in Holland. So you had only Holland who was semi-expensive, and Davis who's finally NOW getting to $10 million in his final year before hitting free agency but was a bargain at the time.

That whole time, KC never had a "lock down lefty," going with guys like Tim Collins and Morales. They added Strahm this year, but Soria's high profile struggles pretty much cancelled anything he did out, and then Davis and obviously Holland were both hurt.

I still think they trade for Dozier and sign Turner. Infield complete.

I think they are just #shook. It's one thing when you franchise player has a season-ending injury. It's another when the cornerstone of your organization is suddenly dead. What do you do all of a sudden?

The income tax difference between Cali and Florida is massive though.

Dodgers are apparently not willing to match the Marlins offer.

Perfect

Kenley Jansen signing in Miami would be fantastic. It would leave Washington and LAD possibly battling over David Robertson. Mark Zuckerman today said that Nats still and interest in Robertson.

This is the best thing for the Sox honestly. Really hope Jansen goes to Miami.

He must really not want to be a Marlin to have not accepted 5/80+ at this point. Wow.

He was getting married back in Curacao this week, so he might be pretty occupied and not deciding yet.

And with no state income tax, it seems like that offer would have be even more of a plus.

Jensen reportedly going to be going back to the Dodgers (per Rosenthal). One less suitor for Robertson.

I think Robertson could fetch a better prospect than Jarlin Garcia, especially given the lack of closers on the market or perhaps at the deadline?

Garcia's upside seems limited to a back of the rotation at best
