  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) If that's not a personal foul than nothing should be. Unbelievably dirty hit by Shazier. So helmet to helmet is allowed when he's not "defenseless"? Hope that's not a broken clavicle for Big Ben, that would ruin the playoffs even more.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) McCarron choking hard Or is he just not that good?
  3. Cutler got a coach hired instead of fired for once!
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) We can have Ryan Braun...so there's that. He's 32 and has already played 9 MLB seasons. Wow, both of those numbers surprised me.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) Sold my house on monday, technically homeless right now I guess? But my bank account looks really, really nice for the next two weeks. Freedom!!!! Seriously though, walk away and rent forever while you have the chance, some of us can only dream.
  6. I was gonna say Hanley Ramirez, but caulfied did say "successfully"
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 06:56 AM) good lord, listening to Phil Rogers is painful. He was just on the score and was musing about Upton taking a 1 or 2 year deal, then transitioned to "the white sox hope that Avisail will develop into what Cespedes already is" why do people pay this man for baseball thoughts Did you know that Curtis Granderson is from Chicago?
  8. I read this Passan tweet and thought, hum, the White Sox could use a player or two like that. Jeff PassanVerified account ‏@JeffPassan 5h5 hours ago Denard Span is a classic Giants player: high character, extremely high contact, solid defensively, few weaknesses in all-around game.
  9. QUOTE (brett05 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) I have not seen the best Arnold Movie get mentioned yet. Junior?
  10. The Rock True Lies Terminator 2 They don't make action movies like they used to
  11. Peyton Manning to start the Broncos' divisional playoff game. I can't say I agree with that move.
  12. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) Hawks get a good win. Can't wait to go see them next weekend! It would have been 5-1 if not for some ridic saves out of Marc Andre. Very solid win.
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) I don't think there always has to be a winner & a loser. I think this is an old school 1-1 trade where both teams fill a huge need. Agreed. In the long run I would rather have Jones, but Nashville is so deep on the blue line and so desperate for offense, the trade makes so much sense for them too.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) Prove they cheated. Iknow you want it the other way but look at it from this point of view. Whenyou want to give someone an award or raise do you look at what they may have done or what you know they did? We know for a fact that some did. Whether it was because their ego was so big that they ignored they couldn't resist or they were too stupid and got caight. You penalize the ones who got caught. I'd be fine with that if they were caught by drug testing with MLB, not random luck in the outside world. MLB didn't care about testing, and some would say encouraged the steroid use to help "save" the game and grow it around the strike. Treat everyone from that era the same, it was part of the game, no one knows the truth.
  15. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) I think it just goes to show how powerful PEDs are. They can take a mediocre player in Sosa and turn him into a would be HOFer or take a HOFer in Bonds and suddenly make him better than Ted Williams starting at age 36. I really think, for the most part, that the HOFers from that era are generally clean. That is why Bonds's numbers stand out so much. It is typically the mediocre to average players that turn to PEDs and make them look much better than they already are. It is when PEDs are given to the best of the best like Bonds or Clemens that it just turns into a joke. Look at the last few years of HOF inductees and soon to be inductees that played through the steroid era. There has not been an ounce of suspicion surrounding these guys. Thome Griffey Smoltz Martinez Johnson Thomas Maddux Glavine Larkin Alomar Ripken Gwynn Can you imagine the numbers those guys would have put up if they used PEDs? Were these players tested for steroids by MLB? They were not during the majority of their careers. How can you be so sure they were clean? PEDs affect everyone differently. Griffey kept getting hurt. There is plenty of suspicion about Pedro. How did Randy Johnson improve with age? Where is the proof that these guys were so clean?
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) NHL released its all star roster. Toews is in with Kane. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=796221&...id=nhl:topheads Some well deserving names are in and some... maybe based on name recognition are in. Sad to see Crawford snubbed. He deserves to be there much more than Toews. Crosby not making it is probably the biggest shock right now though considering he's one of, if not the face of the league even in a bad year. Not sure why Rinne made it over Crawford, Corey has been way better and there already were a couple Predators on the roster. Whatever. Toews deserves the nod because of his 3-on-3 domination and the game is now a 3-on-3 exhibition.
  17. Early weather reports for Sunday at noon in Minneapolis, 0 degrees with wind chill of -15 to -20.
  18. He has one career plate appearance against RHP as a RH batter. What makes you assume he can hit RHP as a RH batter? All of his RH splits are against lefties.
  19. Baseball has been in the forefront of hiring executives from non baseball backgrounds and it has seemed to work well. I like the idea. He's in charge of overseeing the entire organization, not hand choosing the 53 man roster. Plus, the Browns have had zero luck hiring football guys anyway, might as well think outside the box.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 11:30 PM) Looking at the numbers why wouldn't anyone suspect Edgar Martinez of juicing? Had an over 1.000 OPS his age 32-37 seasons. Had a better year as a 40 year old than a 27 year old. Maybe his lack of being in the spotlight actually worked in his favor. Bret Boone was in Seattle for some of those later seasons too
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 12:38 AM) The PERCEPTION is that Ortiz was better because we heard about him 10X as much because of the ESPN/East Coast bias thing. If he'd remained on the Twins and put up those same numbers, he might not be getting into the Hall. The three World Series titles after 80 odd years without one has inflated his influence, as well as having Manny Ramirez, an even better hitter in his prime, paired with him. You'd have to argue Ramirez and Miggy are the two best overall hitters (hitting for both high average and power) of the last two decades of players. Bonds has to be somewhere in that conversation as well, depending on how you view him. Bonds >>>>> Ramirez and Miggy. There is no conversation
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) I'm on break from school lol. How do you actually understand the NFL salary cap?
