PLAYOFF HOCKEY! !!!!!!!!!! -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Is DeAza still excelling with the O's? Why do players do so well when they LEAVE Chicago?? Rios had eight RBIs when he got hurt the other day, etc. Eaton needs to get his head out or he'll lose his leadoff spot. He isn't hitting. Rios hit four home runs in Texas last year. Four.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) I guess Robin did have the bunt on with 2 strikes. I don't agree with it, but Eaton is hitting .120. I don't care if he is 0 for his 50, it's way too risky to bunt with two strikes. Not to mention, it's your 3 fastest players involved, so the GIDP is a bit less likely.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) 1st and 2nd, no outs, we had a 23.8% chance of winning. A successful sac bunt would have made it 16.3% (this is why we perhaps should avoid bunting most of the time). A bunt single would have made it 40.3%. Eaton has a 42.3 lifetime BUH% but it seems less likely when he's clearly showing sacrifice. Thanks. I know at times late in game, bunting becomes a tad bit more defensible, but I didn't know how much that held through in this situation.
-
Out of curiosity, anyone know what the win probability stats say about bunting with Eaton there?? (And please ignore the two strike bunt, everyone else knows how bad of an idea that was)
-
It's one thing to call a bunt. It's another thing to keep the bunt on with two strikes, holy hell.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) Meanwhile, Shane Greene looks damn good as a #4 starter for the Tigers. They have made some under the radar, awesome acquisitions the last few years They had to do something after they gave away Fister for nothing.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 11:45 AM) 9:30 Is that common in the minor leagues?
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) James Dykstra just completed a no hitter in WS What time did that game start?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) It's back to the Big House, and get ready for his next murder trial. Will they actually have the other trial? Is there really a point in lengthening his current sentence of life without parole?
-
I still don't think paying for a closer is the best idea, but in this case it was the right move. Robertson is legit and for some reason the Sox have been unable to find any bullpen arms out of their minor leagues for the past few seasons, so they had to pay up.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 06:49 AM) I would imagine in Cleveland it is routine, sports or no sports After visiting there last month, I'd have to 100% agree

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) Little 9:10am White Sox baseball out here on the West Coast? Love it... Drinking beer at 9 AM is allowed when sports are involved

And That's a White Sox Winner !!

The bullpen was just nasty!!! Hate to see Carrasco get hurt like that, but glad to see the Sox immediately take advantage of it. Some crazy s*** happens over 162 games, you have to jump at any opportunities like that if you want to see October. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) How the hell is Kevin Gregg one of the Reds setup guys. He is f***ing terrible. How is even on a MLB roster, let alone pitching with a lead in the 8th??? And are the Cubs actually gonna keep David Ross around for 2 years to simply be Lester's personal catcher?? Probably the last person you want to see pinch in the 9th and face Chapman, he had no chance.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) I had no idea Carrasco's pitched as well as he has since the ASB last year. He has a 1.59 ERA in that time with more K than IP. When they gave him the contract extension I was very confused, but then I saw those stats and it made a lot more sense.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) But I know that... so I could consciously avoid it... right? Please... It might take some effort, but sure you can do it. Just avoid the bottom right corner of the scoreboard, that's where Chicago (AL) is always listed.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) I am going up to Wrigley with the old lady tonight. What are the odds I am able to ignore the Sox score the whole time I am there? 0.0%. I'm pretty sure you won't be sitting in the outfield, and the Sox score will be on the big green CF scoreboard the entire time.

QUOTE (South Sider @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 12:21 PM) Not like we couldn't guess it would happen, but Patrick Kane has stated that he is playing in game 1. This.Is.Awesome. It's a shame we couldn't get home ice, but the silver lining of the injury allowed us to add to our depth. It's true that neither Vermette or Timonen have looked very good, but you never know if they will take it to the next level in the playoffs. Plus, Desjardins has looked like a solid 4th liner, which we really need. I'm excited about our forward depth, but I really hope we can get Vermette going in a center role and he can win a lot of faceoffs for us. Still a little concerned about the D depth though, and it could burn us. Welcome back Kaner! According to the practice lines, it looks like Vermette will be a healthy scratch for game 1. I don't know about that move, I know he's been struggling but you need him in there IMO. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 09:00 AM) imo there is going to be a break in the schedule where the sox will redo the starting lineup and get the pitchers in a line where they want it. i am also sure that they have that prob planned out. so here is the question, both det and kc are important. but which is the most?? It's April. Neither is more important, just win baseball games. With the two wildcard format, you might still make the playoffs in 3rd place. Cleveland might be your most important competitor, too early to tell.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 04:53 PM) I honestly wonder if the price would be as high as we all think. Prospect returns seem to be dropping in trades for stars. How many of those stars had such team friendly deals though?
-
Right when Lester's 1st base yips go public, the Reds keep the best base stealer in MLB out of the lineup tonight. Is Dusty Baker still there?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) How come so many former Sox position players do well when we get rid of them? Rios, DeAza, Semien, etc. Makes me wonder why nobody will pick up Viciedo. Is he still on the market after Toronto cut him? p.s. Phegley is 4-for-9 this season. Rios wasn't any better in Texas than he was in Chicago and he hit 4 home runs total in 2014. With Semien, sometimes you have to give up talent to get talent, no huge surprise there. ADA started out well in Chicago too, until all the mental mistakes seemed to derail his game. He hasn't had enough time in Baltimore to let that happen again, only time will tell.
