  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 12:54 PM) I honestly don't know why it isn't. They have a major national following on top of being in a large market. As big as Yes, no, but of all franchises, they are one of the few that could do it and do it successfully. OF course it would also require being consistently competitive which they obviously have had trouble figuring out. All that said, the org has been making a lot of good decisions. Big question is do they have the financial resources to do it. Ricketts seems to be extremely strapped for cash now, I think he financed a lot of money to purchase the team.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) That's not exactly a strong way to start off the interviewing process. Given that he has been talked about as a potential head coach candidate for future positions around the league, I doubt he'd ruin his name on purpose just to get out of town early.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 11:12 AM) Since you can be pretty sure that you don't want to just have Kromer do it as an interim to see if he'd be worth keeping around, I don't know who'd they could even have stick around that would be worthwhile. Maybe a position coach? That's the thing. After the NE/GB debacles, people talked about firing Trestman and letting Kromer take over for the rest of the season. Can't do that anymore!
  4. If you are gonna fire the whole cavalry, is there any benefit to doing it now instead of waiting until December 28 at 3:01 PM? You have to play these 3 games no matter what, somebody's gotta coach them. It's not like you will hire anybody before the regular season ends. (Unless you go the CFL route )
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) lol You do know that Chryst was the guy they wanted over Andersen but he didnt feel right leaving Pittsburgh so quickly. So in the end it actually works out best for Wisconsin cause many people thought Chryst should have gotten the job over Bielema a long time ago. So it all works out best because they finally hired the coach that won't bolt for Oklahoma State in 2018. Exactly my point.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) So, #deathmarchformariota ? #SuckForTheDuck
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:02 PM) Boom Sounds like they are just looking for a coach who won't bail to a mediocre program in 3 years.
  8. So Kromer called out Cutler for refusing to check out of bad run plays? So he thinks they should have been running the ball even less?
  9. 2014 fWAR: Lester (6.1) + Arrieta (4.9) = 11.0 Sale (5.4) + Quintana (5.3) = 10.7 Samardzija = 4.1
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 05:30 AM) I wonder what made Kromer fess up. I would lie about that s*** until the day the Bears stopped giving me checks It's December and Santa's watching.
  11. Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc 12m12 minutes ago Bruins coach Julien on Seidenberg's hit on Toews: "We need to start educating our players to protect themselves better." #Blackhawks So, yeah, Bruins coach Claude Julien basically blamed #Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews for hit by Dennis Seidenberg.
  12. Cubs sign agreement with WLS Ch.-7 to air 25 games a year through 2019. Don't really see local sports on the top 3 major channels. According to the article, they plan to start their own regional sports network after 2019, when all of their deals expire. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/bre...1211-story.html
  13. Tried to get fancy in one of my playoff leagues, since I picked up the Rams D, I dropped the Cardinals kicker. D'oh!
  14. I still can't believe Logan Thomas is on an NFL roster. Of course Ryan Lindley (who?) came in before him. This is one ugly defensive struggle.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) Sure seemed like it. Not that we will ever find out, just another upper-body injury I'm sure.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 07:28 PM) They should have never let Toews back on the ice after that hit. Would that be NHL concussion #4 for the captain? Hope not
  17. The list of AL Central third basemen is ugly
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 05:24 PM) DA, that is the one thing I keep wondering. Who the heck is in on Scherzer's services right now. Somebody always pops up when you least expect it. I am thinking Tigers or Yankees in the end
  19. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) I think Peavy gets treated a little unfairly by most Sox fans. The dude overcame a serious injury and still put up numbers near identical to the numbers he put up in San Diego. Time with Padres: 3.47 FIP, 1.186 WHIP, 7.8 H/9, 0.9 HR/9, 2.9 BB/9, 9 K/9, 3.10 K/BB in the NL in a pitcher's park Time with Sox: 3.70 FIP, 1.155 WHIP, 8.2 H/9, 1.1 HR/9, 2.2 BB/9, 8 K/9, 3.66 K/BB in the AL in a hitter's park Well throughout his NL stints he has outperformed his FIP, while in the AL he has underperformed given his FIP, so I stand by my point, he needs to stick to the NL West. From 2009-2013, he only stayed healthy one season, I don't think he deserves a break for that, especially given his salary. And as good as he was that one healthy season, he folded everytime he faced the Tigers that year when the Sox were actually battling for a playoff spot. 2003-2008 Peavy averaged 30.3 starts per season 2009-2013 Peavy averaged 21.2 starts per season
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 12:05 PM) Bernie Pleskoff ‏@BerniePleskoff 23m23 minutes ago #STLCards said to have a deal in place to acquire 1B/3B Mark Reynolds. Not official-pending a physical. Given the Cardinals's history with mid-level free agents, pencil him in for 30+ homers and .230 average (which is great for him average-wise).
  21. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:32 AM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 35s35 seconds ago The #Royals have their Power hitter in Kendrys Morales, who comes at $17 million over 2 years, $13 million cheaper than Billly Butler lol I think I like that contract better than the Butler contract.
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:57 AM) And Iowa State loses Dejean-Jones to a freaking drug house arrest. What an idiot. And all charges have been dropped
  23. IF he were able to stay healthy, I think he would do well in Dodger Stadium. Of course, that's a very big IF
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 10:06 AM) And look where its got them. Four consecutive division titles, that's pretty good in my book
