Nadal, Murray, and Federer are all on the other side of the bracket too, although Wawrinka is playing some great tennis. If Radwanska can get past Azarenka tonight, this will be her best chance yet to finally win a major. (I know, no one cares)

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 09:17 PM) He was comparing chicago to japan with LA to japan That is surprising. 13:15 Chicago to Tokyo, about 11:40 LAX to Tokyo. Although there are several more flight options daily from LA than Chicago

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 06:04 PM) With some of the hatred being spewed at him you'd think he walked over to Crabtree, spit in his face, slapped his wife, and yelled out nothing but expletives in the interview while throwing gang signs. Dude was channeling a little Muhammed Ali, someone he's stated as admiring, showing a little bravado. I mean the amount of hatred going towards him is crazy. Reading comments on facebook and twitter about how he should be introduced to George Zimmerman and how he's just an uneducated n-word. GMAFB. You seem surprised. Is today your first day on the Internet?

Tim Jennings was announced to the Pro Bowl too. He is taking the roster spot of some loud mouth cornerback nobody has ever heard of. That no name has some competition in two Sundays that prevents him from playing in the Pro Bowl.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 12:19 PM) I didn't even know Collie still played until Brady threw a pass about 15 yards over his head. What number concussion is he working on now, #10?

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) As much as I'd love to see a SB in Chicago, the awfulness of this year's SB will make that unlikely. Will never happen because it's the smallest stadium by seating capacity in the league and doesn't meet minimum seating requirements for a Super Bowl.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) I cant wait until New York has an absolute s*** weather superbowl. Lets get a a few feet of snow followed by negative temps If it's extra windy & cold, I think it would be a huge advantage for Seattle.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) For the obvious reason that Payton Manning isn't conducting himself like an idiot on national TV. Yes, maybe not the best wording. My point is, how does showing attitude & emotion immediately following a highly charged violent game suddenly make one incapable of earning a college diploma? Especially when every other player on the field went through a similar program at a university. There's plenty of smart people out there that are major douchebags.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) This is the same bulls*** people were saying about Rodman before the Bulls picked him up. Same thing with AJ Pierzynski and Sox fans I'm sure. You don't have to like every player on the team you root for.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) Don't put words in my mouth. I answered your question regarding why no one is talking about Manning at the moment. You aren't the one who said it, but other people have. They questioned how little Sherman could get away with doing at Stanford to get his education, while every other college football player goes through the same system. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) So that makes it right. He's in the entertainment business, so I don't see a problem with it. That post was more of a reply to say that it wasn't as big of a WTF moment because it's Sherman.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 09:11 AM) Why isn't it being discussed at length? Because of your first paragraph - Manning didn't run up to Brady, taunt him, tell him to f*** off or something, and then act all insulted when he got a glove to the face. So there's nothing to discuss about Manning there. So attitude and emotion after a highly charged football game = lack of intelligence? Suddenly he's the only college football player that couldn't have earned his degree?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) I gotta concur on this one. That was definitely a "WTF was this guy thinking" moment. He's Richard Sherman, that's what he does. Similar to when he went off on Skip Bayless live on ESPN.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 06:43 AM) Manning graduated in 3 years with a 3.61. While they all probably take lay up summer school classes, playing a major sport and graduating in 3 or 4 years with GPAs that high, is quite an accomplishment. If these guys aren't very bright, they still are excellent students. And I'm sure he had some of the same "help" that everyone is accusing Sherman of getting. In the end, who cares, they are football players. Yesterday a guy's leg was bent in half, and as they replayed it over and over, people's one reaction was "Why can't that be reviewed????", torn ACL be damned. It's a brutal game, not sure why it's a surprise a guy yells into the microphone after just winning. You kind of have to be a little crazy anyway to play in the NFL.
-
I didn't like the way Sherman went halfway across the field to talk more s*** to Crabtree and offer a fake handshake. You are going to the Super Bowl, go celebrate with your teammates. On the other hand, the interview was half emotion, half his schtick, but god forbid an NFLer has some fun. He's the best in the world at what he does, if he wants to be cocky, good for him. For all this talk about his education, I'd be willing to bet that his Stanford communications degree was much more difficult to obtain than Manning's Tennessee communications degree, why isn't that being discussed at length. Manning doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed outside of football.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 03:20 AM) Haha, I saw that. That was hilarious. Roenick made a good point though, Vancouver should have just started their 1st line and just took it to them and scored. You don't have to fight them. Let them get the penalty and score on their ass. But a line fight is always highly entertaining, so it's hard to be mad about it. A kid on Vancouver was making his NHL debut. Parents flew in from Ontario just to see him play two seconds, fight, and get ejected for the game.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 08:57 PM) I heard Sherman was actually a pretty smart guy, it's sad that he decides to be all hood like that. Straight Outta Compton, a crazy motherf***er named Richard!
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 08:37 PM) Very inconsistent. He makes absolutely incredible throws that very few other QBs can make but then does things like that. And the two times he got stripped, he had zero awareness that a defender was coming at him
-
Kaepernick has a hell of an arm, but he's not that good of a throwing QB yet. (Unless he's in Green Bay)
