No more days until Pitchers and Catchers reports

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 05:04 PM) Can't wait for baseball to start but this is the second most overrated day in sports. Agreed. As awesome as Opening Day is, I find spring training so boring and prolonged. A month and a half of meaningless games? Ugh. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 1h hammel gets $6M, plus $1M incentives, for 2014 deal. #cubs Rent, don't buy Jason. You will have a new home come July.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) Am I the only one that doesn't particularly care for these outdoor games? I haven't been to a game, but I would imagine the sightlines aren't as good as indoors. And I think camera angles are better indoors. It was fun the first time, but IMO the NHL is overdoing it. Between the games this year in Ann Arbor, LA, and two at Yankee Stadium, they had over 250,000 fans attend, all basically sold out. The games may seem a bit excessive, but if the fans keep showing up in droves, the NHL will keep hosting them.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 10:07 AM) Just saw yesterday that this is the third snowiest, and 10th coldest winter in Chicago's history. With 6-10 more inches coming tomorrow and possibly the same on Tuesday.

My prediction sure to go wrong: Broncos 31, Seahawks 20

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) Coming off a 99-loss season it would behoove the Sox to throw their fans a bone. Why keep Dunn? They already did that by signing Konerko.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 08:36 AM) So unless someone wins their conference tournament it looks like the states of Illinois and Indiana will both be totally shut out of the NCAA tourney. Crazy with how much talent each state produces. Hasn't happened since 1972 -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) That who stretch to get to the playoffs in 2008 was incredible. Incredible? It was awful. I kept drinking myself into a stupor every night while they kept losing and losing, that 3-game sweep at Minnesota was brutal. The 3-game winning streak to end the season & game 163 made it better, but I don't remember that week very fondly.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 06:52 AM) Because we forgot a lot of these, so I'm just making a list of everything we can remember. Who forgot the Buehrle perfect game or Wise catch?

But her "partner in crime" does have to go back to jail because he is in Italy, right?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 10:07 PM) His choke signal was his horrendously poor decision to throw that ball. He made that same decision a few times earlier in the game. When it worked, people were lauding his incredible arm, but you can only play with fire so often against that secondary.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 09:43 PM) I didn't, it was one of the first on there. -Edit: In fact, the first one on there. Then why is it listed in a thread titled "FORGOTTEN White Sox moments"?
-
How do you forget Buehrle's perfect game?

Who thinks of these BlackList episodes? WTF

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 02:27 AM) Oh my god, Workaholics epic again tonight. I always worry each new season that the show will get too stupid and repetitive, but jesus these dudes are hilarious. Adam crying under the desk had me laughing so hard. All of my friends absolutely love that show. It's#1 on my Amazon list if I ever find the time.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 06:31 PM) Unless Dunn represents a 20-win swing, no they won't. The casual fan isn't going to buy into this rebuild as long as he's still on the roster because his presence serves no purpose. LOL. Casual fans don't buy into rebuilds at all. That's why they are "casual" fans.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) The 2000 Summer Olympics were held in September and October (their early spring). Sydney's pretty temperate even in the middle of their winter, and average highs in those months are in the 60's. So it still tries to follow the Northern Hemisphere, but it does adjust a few months here or there. I don't see a single time that the Winter Olympics have been in the Southern Hemisphere, and the Summer Olympics have only been there once. Twice. 2000 Sydney and the 1956 Olympics held in Melbourne from November 22 to December 8.

Looking at where the equator is located, the Northern Hempisphere is greatly more populated than the Southern Hemisphere. The only places I could imagine even capable of hosting a Winter Olympics in the South are Chile or New Zealand.

According to WGN, by Saturday night O'Hare should see a total of 7 new inches of snow, by Wednesday midnight a total of 17 inches. Followed by more negative temps. Worst winter EVER?

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) So our loss AT Northwestern doesn't look too bad. I'm sure the NIT selection committee took notice. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 01:14 AM) Maybe the Cards and Pirates should've parted with some prospects since neither won the World Series True story. I believe the Cards crappy shortstop made a huge error too. -
You can always depend on Luongo to help end a Hawks losing streak. Speaking of goalies, Ben Scrivens with your standard 59 save shutout.
