Anyone know what ever happened to those traveling pants?
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) That just makes no sense. What exactly is Jeff Keppinger going to bring you in a trade whether you are desperate to get rid of him or not? The Rays let him walk for nothing and survived. There is no future All Star being screwed because Paul Konerko is going to get 150 AB vs LHP. You never know, he might even help win a couple of games. I don't know what the Rays have to do with it, he was no longer under contract with him. And maybe he looks better in spot duty in the first half and maybe you can trade him for a warm body instead of just dumping his salary because the owner is hamstringing his young GM. And I'm still not convinced Robin won't feel pressure to play Paulie more and he will take some at bats from Abreu, a potential All Star.
  3. Wow, Pierre Thomas out for the Saints tonight. I don't see tonight being their first ever road playoff win, Eagles roll.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) 16 Reasons You Should Be Rooting For The Seattle Seahawks To Win The Super Bowl…if your team didn’t make the playoffs. Can I have those 10 seconds of my life back?
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 02:21 PM) I want the Sox to win myself. If you don't care if Adam Dunn faces LHP, why would you care if Paul Konerko is taking Jake Elmore's or Jordan Danks' spot on the bench? Because he plays the exact same position as your newest important asset. Because his presence on the roster takes away the option to give other young guys a day or two off at DH. And it might not be Danks/Elmore, it may be De Aza or Keppinger traded for pennies on the dollar because everyone knows the Sox are in a roster conundrum.

  7. Leslie Frazier the new defensive coordinator for Tampa Bay.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) Sharp is just bananas right now. Another hat trick. That was a big goal, too. Book that trip to Sochi #10, just on fire. That was definitely huge, felt like the Devils were about to tie it.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 01:52 PM) Track record. Reduced role. Even in a down year an over .900 OPS vs. LHP, which also keeps Adam Dunn out of the line up vs. the same LHP. Captain. Good influence on others. I heard him talking, saying playing less will allow him to help these guys more. Besides, if you want Gillaspie on the team, he plays 3B and 1B and would be taking ABs away from Davidson and Abreu. I thought that was a no no in your book. If the Sox aren't gonna compete this year, then who cares if Adam Dunn faces LHP? It doesn't matter, right?
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) He needs about 426 out of 567 to get elected. At this juncture, he needs 329 out of the next 460. That's 71.5%. Baby steps. Considering that mostly old farts are the ones who haven't disclosed their ballots, that number doesn't make me extremely confident yet.
  11. Interesting read, the Sochi Olympics are already the most expensive Olympics ever, in large part to Russian corruption.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 10:38 AM) As bad as it could be, the USOC is much more worried about the Next Summer ones in Rio. They are already allocating extra resources for future security. Really? Are they worried about terrorism in Rio or just more local violence like robberies/muggings, etc? Because I think Russia is a much larger concern, they have shown no fear to kill large amounts of people in public places before.
  13. Top 10 coldest games in NFL history http://www.nfl.com/photoessays/09000d5d824da7dd
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) I meant what Colts fans excuses are not buying tickets. They play in a dome. Spoiled from the Manning years? If that many tickets were unsold, that means a lot of season ticket holders chose to not to purchase them during the season. Now Bengals fans I can understand, considering what they have gone through recently.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) The Colts had to have an angel buyer buy the last 1200 tickets for their playoff game to keep it from being a blackout. I wonder what their excuse is? Meijer bought those tickets and is donating them to wounded military vets and their families. Your angel buyer is a saavy corporation earning points with the public.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 09:22 AM) No more sad than any other bench player. That's not true. It's not sad to see Tyler Flowers suck at baseball, he's just not good. It sucks to see Konerko struggle so much after seeing how good of a player he was for so long.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 09:34 AM) My dog doesn't understand how cold it is outside. Same here. He loves the snow, he just rolls around in it and eats it, no matter what the temperature outside is.
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) Mike Golic giving Packer fans s*** this morning for this game not selling out in 5 minutes. I know the people of Green Bay live in the cold and games are normally cold, but this is different. It's going to be a high of -5 on Sunday, they are predicting this could be one of the coldest games ever. They are talking -30 with wind chill. That is actually dangerous to be out in. I think the 2007 NFC championship game they played in was -7. This should well pass that. LOL, what a meathead. I think the fans have it way worse than the players do. The players go in the locker room before the game and at halftime. They have heaters on the sidelines, and probably some of the best thermal gear money can buy. It might hurt way more to get hit when it's that cold, but that's still better than just sitting in one place for 3-4 hours.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) Any reports on how much Jennings/Slausson got? It seems odd that so little info is out on the size/amount of the contracts. Jennings got $5 million per year, $12 mil guaranteed edit: Officially $22.4 million, $11.815 mil guaranteed
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 09:06 AM) Put winning out of your mind and it changes your perspective. This team isn't going to win, so why stress about it? Because it's sad to see one of your favorite players play like hot garbage.

No way. I would rather freeze than sweat to death.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 08:29 AM) I don't think he's saying that. However, having the opportunity to knowingly say good bye to an icon and one of the best players in franchise history is still pretty cool. If you are implying that the Sox are a playoff team without Konerko, then you're crazy. We already said good bye to him at the end of last season. Why do it for another 162 games?
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) LeBron James falls down, leaves a skid mark Look at the White Sox making national headlines!
