Eaton called selfish by ex-teammate
So our new young players are selfish, home wrecking traitors? I like it!

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) His starting days are done but I'll be more than happy with him as a backup. Are they gonna give up on him that quick? He didn't seem awful.

Lovie to the Buccs. There goes Mike Glennon's career, but the defense should be very, very tough. If Lovie had any offensive imagination, he would still be in Chicago. Good coach.

(Insert Celeb Here) is Dead
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) James Avery who played Will Smith's uncle on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air died today. He was 65. Judge Phillip Banks, no. Just watched a few episodes earlier this week.

One resolution
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Every year people make resolutions, and fail to keep them. Sometimes minutes after the new years ball drops. I am going to share my one resolution with you guys, and if you so wish, share one of your own. Over the last two years I have gained some unhealthy weight. I am by no means morbidly obese, but I have gained some weight that I notice every day when I see myself in the mirror. Im not going on a crash diet, but I am cutting out soft drinks, eating sugary snacks, and replacing them with fruit and veggies. I am replacing leftovers for lunch with salads, and I am going to walk a minimum one mile a day as well as start a morning excercise routine. My father has had not one, but two triple bypasses done in my lifetime, and frankly at 35 years old that scares me. His first triple bypass was when he was 35. I dont drink much at all(he drank pretty hard), I dont smoke(he still does, at least a pack a day), and i am a lot more active at this point in my life than he ever was, but at the same time I am starting to feel effects of getting older and I am not really pleased with it. I dont want my kids to see what I saw. I just wanted to write this down, "say it out loud" if you will, so i could go back and look at it and try and keep this resolution. Comment if you want, make your own resolution if you want. Any way about it, have a happy new year! I've been trying to slim down the last few months via more exercise and a better diet. I go through good stretches but whether it's a holiday, vacation, or fun weekend, I keep regressing to square one. Life is slowing down the next few months, so I think I can get back on the right track.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 05:20 PM) http://espn.go.com/olympics/hockey/story/_...mpics-was-named Great read on putting together the US team. Also, Saad was the last forward cut. Very, very cool that they gave him such access and let him publish everything. Although Bobby Ryan can't be happy to get publicly s*** on by so many big hockey names.

And by all accounts, Super Bowl crowds are usually 25% fans of the AFC team, 25% fans of the NFC team, and 50% "guests" of the corporate sponsors. That's why it's in a outdoor stadium in New Jersey this year.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) It doesn't measure up to modern stadiums on luxury boxes. Yeah I know, and there is no NFL team nearby. It's just such an awesome setting for football and you know the weather is gonna be nice. (And yes I am biased from a Big Ten school living in a cold winter town. But it was such an awesome experience being there six years ago, despite the butt kicking)

Is it just me or was that the longest overtime period ever played? Fun game, good to see Rice keep it up against tougher competition.

Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 10:33 AM) The interesting one is Piazza. He is right on the doorstep. It will be an absolute joke if Piazza gets in and Bonds doesn't. Then again, it's a joke that Bonds isn't in at all, but that's another discussion for another day.

Surprising at first, but I guess he has a house 30 minutes away, so it makes sense. Just a Canadian in Texas.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 09:35 AM) I think the Packers have a shot at beating the 49ers on Sunday. They played them much the last time they played. I would lean toward the 49ers winning, but would not be shocked if the Packers won. Of course the Packers have a shot. Aaron Rodgers.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 10:57 PM) At this point he's been out of the league so long that it no longer seems like putting him at another position makes sense. A 21 year old TE with no experience is one thing, but a 25 year old is different. True, maybe he would have to earn a job, but given his size and athleticism, I could see many teams inviting him to camp to test him out at TE or maybe safety.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) Don't worry, he said on Twitter he's still be following his dream to be an NFL quarterback. I guess he deserves some credit for his self confidence. If he's willing to play another position, I guarantee he'd get a job in the NFL, but he persists that he is a quarterback.

Frank Thomas Is a Hall of Famer
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 30, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) So we're only seeing a tiny percentage. I wouldn't get excited. The ballots we're seeing are from the newer generation of writers that use Twitter and such, and those aren't the ones to be worried about. It's the old guys that aren't going to vote for him. Good point. It's those people that won't even vote for Greg Maddux because of "first ballot, blah blah blah". Any voter who doesn't vote for Maddux should be drug into the street and shot, so that his vote can be taken away from him.
