  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 02:07 PM) Very true. You have to remember that a good chunk of any concession money goes to the concession company. The parking is pure profit. That's part of the reason why concessions and beer are so expensive. So many people have their hands in it financially, it needs to cost more so everyone can make money.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 10:48 PM) A clinching win in either Game 6 or 7 by Boston will be the first home clinch in a World Series by the Red Sox since 1918. Big deal. Next WS the White Sox clinch at home will be their first since 1906.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 06:43 PM) I watched it before they left. It was fun to see Cowherd bash the Sox/Bulls/Bears/Blackhawks every day. An ESPN personality was talking about hockey? Doubtful.
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) 9th in points 15th in yards 27 sacks given up. Lost Sidney Rice for the year. They aren't the worst, but they are middle of the pack in the NFL. If they hold onto home field advantage, behind that psycho drugged up defense, they are still favorites to make the Super Bowl IMO.
  5. Fun game tonight, a hat trick for the captain. Antti Raanta, your table is ready.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) The flip side is if he is a mirage, the Sox can cut their losses Do the Sox have an opt out option or just Abreu?
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 01:05 PM) Pretty sure he means he can actually hit as opposed to be being an all or nothing big pop HR type of guy Like Adam Dunn? Technically I would call him three dimensional. He also walks and strikes out with the best of them.
  8. QUOTE (gatnom @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) Zook in 2009 and Beckman right now aren't really comparable situations. My main point is that I want our next coach to believe he's going to get time to fix a bad situation and actually be put in a situation where he can succeed, should Beckman prove beyond all reasonable doubt that he can't move the program further. Done. That's why he needs to go. Just admit it was a bad hire and move on.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Yeah but Peavy has a tendency to s*** his pants in playoff games. I've always been the first person to point out that fact. But unless they trust Doubront to go 5+ innings, Peavy is gonna have to start game 6 or game 7. I'd rather give him game 7 on regular rest with your ace available out of the bullpen against a s***tier mound opponent, IF you don't win game 6.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) BUT WHAT IS HIS DAMN NUMBER kind of strange that De Aza has a seat saved for him If he had to choose his own seat, he would probably get mixed up and tagged out before he found it.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) Lackey also pitched in game 4, so he'd kind of be going on short rest (although I think game 4 was his bullpen day anyways). The Red Sox staff know their pitchers better than I do, but going with Peavy in game 7 seems a bit risky. Who starts game 6 then? Peavy on short rest? Anything can happen in a game 7, you gotta try to close it out when you can. Plus, game 7 is all hands on deck, I'm sure Lester will be available for a couple innings if needed, Buchholz too. Plus, the Cardinals would start Joe Kelly, he's no ace either.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 26, 2013 -> 09:07 PM) Corey Crawford can decide to finally show up for this season anytime. I think he's been fine this year, Saturday's stinker aside. If you are expecting a repeat of last season, then don't hold your breath, it ain't gonna happen. But he has gotten the job done IMO. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 12:22 PM) Goales are like relievers in baseball. Paying them big money is silly unless they are complete monsters and prove it over the course of multiple seasons. This is why I b****ed and moaned about signing Crawford to big money (for NHL salary cap reasons). He's just not elite. Agreed and it wasn't a very Bowman-esque move so I was surprised. By all accounts, revenues are increasing so the salary cap will increase as well, so the contract might not hurt that much. But if the cap doesn't increase, it could cause some issues when #19 & #88 need new contracts soon.
  13. 11 degrees of separation between Bobby Hull and Dez Bryant
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) To avoid an 0-2 week, I need Lynch to score less than 14 or more than 28. Yeah, I'm screwed. Thanks for not playing Marshawn. Would have sucked to lose with Megatron's big day.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 01:31 AM) Can Abreu play LF? I'd rather have Paulie at first and Abreu in LF (if he is OK out there) and trade Dayan. How bout a Dayan/Beckham package to somebody for a 3B and set up man. If Abreu can't play left then have him split time between DH and first and give Paulie and Dunn breaks. Wow. So you want to dick around the 2nd most important player in the franchise's future just to keep Paulie around for one last season?
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) I think the Cards are going to win game 6 with Wacha going. The Sox would be smart to go with Lackey in game 7 and not game 6. I don't know if conceding game 6 to get to game 7 is the best idea. Red Sox were in game 2 with the same pitching matchup until Breslow happened. I think the Sox win game 6, they will get to Wacha this time.
  17. Hell of a performance by the Rams D. They win that game with a NFL quarterback.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 05:12 PM) It depends on what you major in. I was usually drowning in school work. Yeah engineering definitely kept me busy. The worst was second semester senior year when my friends did nothing and I had a final design project to work on all semester. I wouldn't say I really miss college. I had a blast and lived it up, but I am also pretty happy with life right now. (Even with the responsibility and mortgages) That was then, this is now, different expectations and wants in life.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 05:05 PM) As bad as the Big10? OSU and Wisconsin would challenge for any conference. I guess the PAC 10 benefits from jobbing Wisconsin? Not sure why you are so down on OSU. I agree. It's just that the other ten teams in the conference suck.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Honestly, no way. The only examples we have of this are non-bcs cons like TCU, Utah and Boise State. No way a major conference team that's undefeated gets jumped by a 1-loss team unless that 1 loss team lost in the first week adn then beat everyone by 100 pts after that. Has there been an undefeated team from a conference as bad as the Big Ten is this year? And with Cal ending up as the worst team in the Pac 12, OSU gets no help from their non-conference schedule
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Cowherd advanced some silly theory this morning about allowing your starters more rope and even to actually let them lose games rather than pulling them early because they are usually alpha males and damaging their egos upsets the clubhouse and their own confidence. It was about the dumbest thing I have ever heard him say (and that is saying something). Was he talking about Jake Peavy?
  22. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 09:17 AM) Like I'm sure many on here, I have been re-watching my '05 World Series DVDs. Man, watching Ozzie in the dugout during those games makes me miss him as the manager - he was fun, laid back (well, other than screaming at umps), hilarious in '05. That being said, from '06 till the end, he thought he was the best manager in the world and should get paid like he is... As said above, that is when he was too much and needed to go. Doesn't change the fact that in '05 he helped make that the best year of baseball for Sox fans. I always thought that winning the WS was the best and worst thing that could happen for Ozzie. Best: Obviously bringing Chicago a WS title as manager Worst: It inflated his already huge ego to epic proportions and he suddenly thought he was the best manager in the world and refused to hear it any other way. Which also spread to his next of kin. That ego got in the way of baseball and helped lead the Sox into major underachievement.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) Won't change next week either if Oregon beat #6 Stanford and we beat #7 Miami. Basically have to hope Stanford or Oregon State can pull off an upset. It doesn't help that Oregon would host the Pac-12 Championship game
  24. How many times in playoff history has a team had 3 consecutive starters enter the 9th inning with a minimum 3-run lead and having thrown 105 pitches or less? That in itself is such a rare occurence.
