QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) Yeah but I'm growing tired of the Braves. Hoping they flame out early in October. I agree. I had the sound off during the highlight, and I know Gomez is a major dumbass, but it seems like the Braves are always the ones getting into spats like that. Have some damn fun.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) Um no. It was clearly mutual which is why Scott dropped in the first place. I guess we are just watching different videos.
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) John Scott was not injured. The best part of the video is Scott patting the linesman on the back, basically saying ok we're done. When it comes to suspensions, it often seems that the law of the land is "no harm, no foul".

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) Horrific, start a fight then skate away slashing, come up again when the guy you initially engaged is already fighting/grappling and spear him. Um, Scott started the fight both verbally and physically. He told him "You know I am gonna have to go after you" and he dropped his gloves.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 12:09 AM) FYI Franconas winning percentage before coming to Boston was .438, he had 2 90 loss teams in 4 years....He then took over a team who won 90 games 2 years in a row....I think you're overrating Francona here. And he also managed one of the biggest collapses in MLB history. Scioscia hasn't made the playoffs in 4 straight seasons with plenty of talent.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 12:20 AM) I assume you are being sarcastic, because that suspension is a joke. Wow, suspend a veteran from playing meaningless preseason games? I'M SURE HE IS ALL HEARTBROKEN ABOUT IT. f***ing stupid. Give him 5 regular season games. That entire scene was a joke. Fair suspension in my book.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 02:57 AM) Are the Hawks heavy favorites to reach the Cup Finals again? Can Crawford duplicate last season? What u say? One of the favorites. Probably not. I say hey!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) Adam Dunn has 2 golden sombreros this year. Both have come in September. He had 3 last year, and 3 in 2011 too. I wonder if he doesn't wear down as the year goes on. Finding a strong backup for him so he can actually be a platoon player (which he should be at this point in his career) will also save his health down the stretch and keep him fresher. Last year, on September 21, 22, 25th, and 30th, he had 3 strikeouts each. And, once he wears down, his bat speed slows down a great deal. I think you can win with Adam Dunn, and I think you can do it with him hitting cleanup. He just can't do so against left handed starters. If he ends up with more than 75 PAs against lefties, he's really playing too much. He's at 140 PAs against LHP now. It's amazing how few teams see the advantages of platooning your hitters. It's one of the main ways Oakland and Tampa compete with their smaller payrolls.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) Notable 5th picks - Posey, Wieters, Braun, Teixeira, Drew, Vernon Wells, McDowell, Mercker, Gooden, Dale Murphy. Hopefully they win out and get that pick, right? Seriously, this b****ing about the difference between the 3rd pick and the 4th pick is trivial and f***ing stupid. Oh joy, we can be happy Notable 25th picks - Michael Nelson Trout That's where the Sox need to pick

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) Ventura weighs in. South Side Sox @SouthSideSox 2m "It affected his throwing, but swinging a bat? That was pure, 100-percent Keppinger. Literally, it's the most he can do." Wow Robin!

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) Guy I know who is close to the situation and following it predicts Cliff and Lyle to Kansas because they're offering "the most". Wink wink. No surprise to anyone. Open up your bank accounts Illini fans! -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Phil Kessel is suspended for 3 games. 3 preseason games. Sounds about right.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) But the university knew what was going on and they could have stopped it regardless of whether or not others were involved. I'm talking about situations where people outside the university are providing money/stuff directly to players. The NCAA doesn't have the reach to sanction those individuals so penalties to the school are the only option. So if a player is caught taking money, then the school should take blame for paying the kid, instead of blaming a booster? That way, they can be forgiven and have scholarships reduced. That's fair. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) If it's purely an internal issue, then yes. A lot of the "payment scandals" involve boosters/alumni, so I think those penalties need to stick in order to deter further occurrences. You don't think the PSU scandal involved boosters and alumni? That was way more than an internal issue. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Looks like the NCAA has reduced the sanctions on Penn State. http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public...te+scholarships If you cover up child rape, but later show good behavior, then your punishment will be reduced. But god forbid one player takes a little money, there is no turning back from that! -
Major thumbs down to the Raiders head coach. How do you not give Janikowski a shot at the 67-yard FG in the mile high air ? The game was already out of reach in all honesty and a Hail Mary TD was very unlikely anyway.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 10:27 PM) Rooting for the Indians over KC? That's cruel. I enjoy spending the whole offseason hearing about how this is the year for KC and their stud young prospects, only to see them not make the playoffs for the 28th consecutive season.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) Yeah and Santiago has dead arm. I hope we somehow beat the Indians twice, injure Swisher, and get swept by KC. I hope we somehow lose to the Indians twice, injure Swisher, and sweep KC.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 11:15 AM) Players don't just drop the gloves and beat the s*** out of the other guy if they are not looking to drop the gloves also. All Kessel had to do was skate away from Scott and it would have been over. Scott would not have jumped on him and started pounding him. Using his stick a second time, later after everything had cooled down was the real bush league move. Considering how quickly Scott dropped his gloves and grabbed him, there really wasn't much of a chance to skate away.
