Alexei trying out for the Bears

LOL, Dunn's average is guaranteed to increase today unless this game goes to deep extra innings.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) for some reason I think dunn is going to have a good game have you been drinking?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) Because Vmart is a very good professional hitter? Those two are pretty fearsome back to back. Blackburn sucks. It wasn't exactly Adam Dunn hitting behind Cabrera

That story about the U was an entertaining read. Why is that Yahoo is the only whoever comes up with these stories? I assume its cause they don't have the money invested that ESPN does, but they are connected with Rivals now. -
QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) what do I think of the Young/Garza trade now? well, obviously, it was a terrible trade. Matt Garza would be an awesome addition for the pitching staff right now. But I guess he and Gardenhire didnt get along. When the trade happened, I was ecstatic. But things didnt work out. move on That's not in Soxtalk's vocabulary when it comes to bad trades

This season is a statement on organizational resiliency

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) Does fan perception and attendance define how resilient it is? I wonder what we can then say about August and September of 2005... The season was on the line vs. the Tribe and the Cell wasn't even sold out. -
Let's not forget that Zambrano is not the same pitcher he was. His fastball velocity is down & his ERA is the highest of his career, nearly 5.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) Hawk: "And there's another pitch that gets away. Runners on 2nd & 3rd, no outs." Not much different than when AJ has caught Floyd

Sugarland was about to head out on stage a minute before the collapse, but their tour manager held em back for a minute probably saving their lives. Link

Statue will memorialize Rangers baseball fan Personally, I think it's ridiculous to honor & memorialize this guy like he's some kind of hero. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) to me it is a similar love/hate relationship to boers and bernstein. i love b+b, but they can be ignorant, stubborn and downright mean, but i still love their show for when they are silly, funny, informative. peter king has some good thoughts and great sources, but you have to sift thru his bulls*** starbucks stories and favre love and musings on other sports. he makes his articles hard to read by filling them with clutter Thank you, perfectly said. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) With how good the Indians have been at home this season, you take your chances that the home/road splits at some point return (regress) to mean. With the way we're struggling with RISP (STILL), you'd expect at least a couple of walkoff wins at Progressive Field. (Of course, we've said the same thing about Adam Dunn. Happened with Uggla, but not our player, of course). If you take away the six in a row we recently lost at home against Boston and the Yankees, it's not SO BAD. But sure, we should be 10-12 games over at least (at home). Not Brewers good, but c'mon, this is unexplainable. Don't they already have like 10 walkoff wins this season?

The best part of Peter King's Monday SI article is reading Kissing Suzy Kolber's blog just tear apart his entire piece. The guys has tons of NFL connections and some good insight, but I can only handle so much of his Favre & Patriot ass-licking, as well as his dorky personal thoughts throughout the article. -
P-Town!!!! Congrats to Thome. Everyone says he's the nicest guy in the game and it seems 99% certain he was not on the juice, which is great for baseball. I just wish it would have happened in Cleveland to shove it in the face of all those morons still booing him.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 08:21 AM) Yet another NHL player/enforcer passed away. Former Canuck Rick Rypien.. R.I.P. (rumor is he committed suicide from depression) Sad he will probably be remembered for this other than his fighting. He missed most of last season for personal reasons, but swore it wasn't drug related. Sounds like depression could be a major factor, he just signed with Winnipeg too.

QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) Its not the science part as its almost like they believe he could go throw a 97 mph fastball I agree that it's a dumb comparison with Favre, cause a football is larger and shaped differently, and the receiver is trying to catch it, not hit it with a bat. In softball, it's the exact same premise as baseball. Hit the ball with the bat, just a softball may be a bit larger. I think the comparison is pretty justified.
