QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) Dunn @ $56 million is the steal of the century, imo. I have a hard time believing any contract worth $14 million a year can be the steal of the century.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 05:13 PM) He was traded for Roberto Alomar...so that's probably why. Yeah, that's true. I guess I meant more his overall baseball career, that should have been with the Sox as a 1st round pick.

Five coaches top Tennessee's list to replace Pearl? There is no way this "anonymous source" knows what he is talking about, it's UT basketball, not football. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) He's not talking about making it easy to fill, he's talking about being able to fill it with someone who may have some upside. Philip Humber has virtually no upside whatsoever. Well we know it's physically impossible to pitch worse than most people on here are predicting, so I guess there's some upside there?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) Adam Moore's on their 40 man roster. But yeah, Royce Ring is bad... LOL, I'm heading to a wedding this weekend where I guess Royce is good friends with the bride & groom. Guess he will have a prior commitment with the M's but I was hoping to ask him why his promising White Sox career was derailed. (after a few drinks of course)

QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) . my simple point is that right now we have a complete inability to fill this spot with anything that can offer any hope from within our system , and IMO that is pathetic. Almost every other franchise (though im sure not all) would probably be able to run someone with more upside and potential than anything we can. I'm not saying our system is good or that I'm happy with Humber. But if you looked around the league at all the 5th starters being thrown out there, some of the old, bad veterans that teams are gambling on, I don't think that last spot in the rotation is as easy to fill from within as you make it sound.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) Nickelodeon Games and Sports channel. Loved watching Finders Keepers, Legends of the Hidden Temple, etc. GUTS was my favorite....Get ready to face the Aggro Crag!!!

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) Elizabeth Taylor I know she was already 50 when I was born, but she is always talked about as this great actress but I couldn't name one movie or show she has ever acted in. All I know is she liked to go through spouses like Larry King.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) ISU is rumored to be taking yet another transfer (more than likely). Since we've run out of Spartans to take on, I wonder who it could be. Keep taking players from the Big Ten.....Jereme Richmond? -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) Gio Gonzalez, John Ely and Clayton Richard.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Really, no. It's like that in the sense that it's 1/1000th of it. Maybe I should have added it reminds me of the Lebron madness on Soxtalk. The varying opinions and theories from all angles, when no one knows the complete truth yet. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) I see some similarity in that nobody really knows what's going on, yet there is a new report every few minutes, all of it speculative. Thank you.
-
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) The crazy variance in reporting is making my head spin. It's like a repeat of the LeBron madness this past summer

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) That abortion needs to be erased from human history. How dare you say such a thing?!?!?! Take it back NOW!

I'd personally go with AGon & Rasmus, although I think a case could be made for Lester & Stubbs. I wouldn't keep any of the other ones in your situation.

Q says that Sharp's injury is nothing serious, expect him back before the end of the season. In the NHL, that's about as detailed as they get, but good news.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) F*CK, that clearly means bad news for Sharp. He's probably done. Take it FWIW, but this is Jesse Rogers comment on it. Of course, we will find out the truth later today I'm sure. @ESPNChiHawks For those asking. This is a statement on Bolland more than sharp. Center is CRUCIAL. Kruger NHL ready compared to rockford centers

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 06:32 PM) The Yankees also have a farm system and cash to go out and upgrade if they really need to. We don't. I'm sure they will end up making a move at the deadline, but right now that system & all that cash has gotten them Garcia, Colon, or Mitre in the 5th starter spot.
-
Still nothing on Sharpie, but prospect Marcus Kruger is coming over from Sweden for the last ten games and playoffs. Kid is supposed to be pretty good, could have started the season on the roster. Probably means bad news for Bolland or Sharp.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 08:11 AM) Which is the story of the tourney. Match ups are everything. Exactly. I always did think the Big East was a bit overrated, but tournament performance isn't always the best judge of it. If A & M had beat FSU and one guy on Pitt doesn't make the stupidest decision, they all of a sudden could have 4 teams in the sweet 16 and the discussions are moot. (I do realize you can play the what if game with a lot of teams/conferences, just in a one-game elimination format, anything can and will happen)
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Humber is an insult and unacceptable as a 5th starter solution in the AL. So is whoever the Yankees are throwing out there too, so at least we are even with them.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) From the extreme sideline of half court isn't a "makeable shot", especially with a defender in the area. That is a miracle shot. Howard's throw would have just been a bigger miracle. The combined chances of either of those shots going in would be under 1%. What % chance does a shot have to be "makeable" that you will call a foul on a defender running into & bumping the shooter? 3%? 5%? Does have to be a certain distance away from the hoop? Like if the shooter is beyond halfcourt, you can foul him all you want cause the shot is not "makeable", so a foul won't be called? If Mack doesnt run into him, maybe he can get a jump stop, square up and at least get a clean look at the hoop. Mack's physical bump prevented him from doing that, hence the required foul call. About the Pitt foul, I disagree but I can see the reasoning. But the first foul directly affected the shooter's ability to make the shot, no matter how tough it would have been. You have to call that.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) Matt Cooke meeting with the NHL this afternoon. Hopefully they suspend that piece of crap for the rest of the regular season. You got your wish and then some, suspended through the 1st round of the playoffs.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 08:19 AM) That is just dumb if you ask me. I don't see what's so dumb about it. A foul is a foul no matter what point of the game it's during. Should a baseball umpire call pitches differently in the bottom of the 9th than in the top of the 2nd? QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) So if a team was winning by 25 and there was little time left on the clock, they would still call every single foul? Unless the goal of the player was to foul the other player, I don't think so. Technically, they should. Do they? I don't know, I try to change the channel by that point. Plus, there is way less contact going on at that point of the game.
