  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) The Swisher trade was a right size, wrong shape transaction. It was a brilliant move by KW to get rid of 3 top prospects that the organization has huge questions about. However, it's just too bad those resources went for Swisher and not someone who would be more productive at this point of the season. I think although the way I typed it it came out wrong, I think that's what I was implying.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) PLEASE GOD LET THEM SIGN HOSSA. I agree. From there, sign Liles or Redden. Liles would probably only cost us 3.5-4.5 a year but Redden, who might be a bit better, would cost us around 5 per.
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) DLS just had TJ, and Gio has a has a 5.51 ERA in AAA. Are you f***ing serious?? I knew about De Los Santos, but I did not know about Gio. My bad.
  4. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:30 PM) If we only had Torii Hunter! Look, by no means would he have saved us, but he'd be a definite upgrade of what Wise, Anderson, and Swisher have collectively given us this year. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:30 PM) Anyone have a list of starting pitchers who have shut us out this season (or at least started the game)? Sonnanstine Marcum McGowan Weaver x2 Kazmir De La Rosa Stults
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) Are you kidding me? Did I make it out to be like I was kidding? I'd take his .803 OPS and his .282 BA, especially if I knew we'd still have DLS (yes, I know he had surgery) and Gio.
  6. Koufax-- I mean Stults- shut us out.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) We'd be a better team if we had Rowand in CF than Swisher, but I don't fault KW for not going after him with the huge contract. Agreed. However, I do fault KW for not giving Torii Hunter the money the huge contract.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) Please tell me what moves KW can make? We have the worst farm system in baseball. This roster is better than the Twins...it's up to them to hold off the Tigers. That is true, though, also. It looks like he traded our whole farm for garbage, but was fine and dandy at the time, but now it looks like trades like the one for Swisher really screwed us.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) How many times have we asked that of the team? They suck. I am starting to really hate our offense. Two weeks ago everything was magical. The weather started heating up and so did the offense. I thought that the Twins series was this teams statement saying that they were for real and this division was theirs. Now they are just pissing it away. As for the Twins, they fight and claw back to 1.5 games back. The Sox would never pull off something like that. This might be the last weekend in first, so enjoy it while it lasts. Not only am I hating the offense, the pitching hasn't exactly done it's job as of late, either. And you're right about the magical part. 2 weeks ago, people were comparing this team to the 2005 team (even though I didn't exactly agree with that then, either) and were thinking up the possibility of a Cubs/Sox World Series. Now, from the looks of this current team and the ineptitude of KW to get up off his @$$ and make a splash for a big time hitter/pitcher, it looks as if we'll be lucky to finish in 2nd place.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) This team is so streaky. Hopefully we can start a new winning streak and maybe MIN and DET will cool off a bit. But I really don't see this lead lasting long if we keep sucking like this. I am just ready to go back to playing AL teams. Hopefully we can take advantage of the Tribe next week and we still have 16 games left against the Royals. But what has happened to our pitching lately? Floyd is getting consistently rocked, Contreras is sucking and Javy has looked like a b**** mostly since his start in Seattle. The 10-1 in their last 11 games Kansas City Royals?
  11. Is the the thread for following the draft or will another be created?
  12. Burres misses the start, Albers gets hurt 5 hitters in, so it's now 4-0 Cubs in the 1st.
  13. That TOR-IND trade has happened. Also, Charlotte got the Nuggets 1st rounder for a future 1st.
  14. Make it 2 in a row and win the series, and hopefully we sweep them tomorrow.
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) Scotty Bowman says he's not going to Chicago “I don't know anything about that,” Scotty Bowman said this evening. “As long as I'm healthy and there's no change in ownership in Detroit, there'll be no change. I'm perfectly satisfied.” Isn't that what Pat Foley said, too?

Like Controlled said, maybe clouds with a bike on them, with maybe the state of Florida faded behind the clouds. This is pretty much the main Sublime logo. Not sure if you wanted to get THAT detailed, though. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g67/stevejc86/sublime.gif
  17. QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) Give us the gate key. I have no gate key. Fezzik, tear his arms off. Oh you mean this gate key I thought he meant pointless threads. So whoever starts a gamethread or post-gamethread means they are a pointless poster? Ahh, got it.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) Fresno State-Georgia final. Good luck Georgia, you will need it. Fresno is the scrappiest team I have seen in a long time. Mendonca for Fresno is going to be a gold glove 3B in the majors, he's awesome. Fielding- reminds me of Eric Chavez, hitting reminds me of Casey Kotchman. BTW- that bomb Beckham hit yesterday was nice- made me forget about the past 3 days.
  19. I still think they should have left CP3 or Williams at home to bring another big guy, like Tyson Chandler. What is the object of having 3 PGs on one team? BTW, I like the addition of Kidd- he was on the 2000 team so it brings some more experience. I think this team will still win the gold.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 07:27 AM) I personally think that UFA Michal Rozsival would be a great addition to the Hawks. He can move the puck out of his own end and is only 28 years old. Sign Hossa, let the Rangers bid up Campbell, and then steal Rozsival from them. You can sign 3 players, including Rozsival, for the price Campbell would warrant. Also, Jose Theodore is a UFA (at least according to the site I'm looking at)... he enjoyed quite the renaissance last year, and though I doubt the Hawks would sign him with Khabby under contract still, he'd be a nice look at just 30 years old. Rozsival wouldn't be bad, either. I think he'll cost probably around 3-5 a year, but I'll still take Liles over Roszival if we're not going to get Campbell. Liles would probably cost us only 3.5-4.5 a year, and he's probably the 2nd or 3rd best PP QB on the market. Again, I'd love to sign Hossa. I've sort of been preaching about Theodore for a while now, but it seems we're pretty content at goalie right now. I think whoever signs him is only going to give him a 1 year deal, but then next offseason guys like Ryan Miller and Martin Biron are UFA's and so I'd take them over Theodore any day.
  21. Well, I know I started those threads- I thought you meant other ones besides game-threads and post-game threads (although, I know I started that Cubs/Sox predictions one as well).
