  1. Whew. Got out of that one. If you're so unhappy his defense at second, can you imagine Lex at short next year?
  2. I don't understand what you want them to say after a showing like that? I have no problem with either of their comments.
  3. This suuuuuucks. It is so annoying that all this crap keeps happening.
  4. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) OC couldn't score!? No way.
  5. Nice play by OC... feeling some chemistry there with Lex.
  6. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) I know it hasnt been pouring rain, but its been raining pretty much all day here in elgin. Any chance this game gets called? Thats what I'm thinking. Its been pissing all day downtown. No signs of stopping.
  7. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Basically, Cabrera has disappointed people, and sucks. Swisher has disappointed people, and sucks, and we gave up way too much to get him. That pretty much sums it up, and there's really no arguing with that, if you've watched the majority of the games this year. Neither are a big improvement over what we had at those positions last year... If you think they are, you're fooling yourself. I literally watch every single game. I am happy with what OC has done. I think he id better than Uribe in every way except arm strength, which would be hard for anyone to compete with. Uribe is a great utility player and a good back-up. He does not play every single day as well as OC. Sorry. If Cabrera has disappointed people, then they had unrealistic expectations of his abiltity, and thats not his fault. Again, I'll say he's played as well as can be expected and I'm happy for this year, since we've obviously destroyed our team's predictions based on last years dismal preformance.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) I said he's failed at being a fundamental hitter. He's been horrible on hit-and-runs this season, can't get a bunt down to save his life, and has been miserable with RISP and 2 outs. The Sox are doing better this season than last due to people like Quentin, Linebrink, and Ramirez. Just going on what I've heard, OC is one of our best hitters in the clutch. Kinda sucks at bunting, but, Ozzie should have figured that out by now and stopped bunting him.
  9. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) So... let's see if I can summarize about 90% of what I've read in this thread so far in 10 words or less: - Cabrera has dissapointed people - We shoulda got more for Garland Does that pretty much sum it up? Nope, I disagree. 100%. Cabrera was an even deal. Garland hated it here, glad we gave him what he wanted. Not surprising that another guy hates it here... Can't hold it against him.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) Nope, they expected OC to be a leader in the clubhouse, as well as a terrific fundamental hitter. He's failed miserably at both. How can you possibly know that? Besides what the stupid Chicago media says, all you see is him talking to everyone and laughing etc. I don't get why everyone has decided he's "failed?" I wouldn't say .273 in the lead-off role is failing miserably.... Why don't people just see this for what it is - a one year rental that has turned out to be OK. Sox are doing a million times better than last year, so obviously KW did something right.
  11. I also don't get why people think that Swisher's "amazing" personality is going to change the fact that he's a career .250 hitter. I bet his clown attitude is more annoying in the clubhouse than it is motivating.
  12. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) I hate this logic. If the Sox released Buehrle or traded Garland + all of his salary to another team would it be worth it just because Floyd got a chance to go in the rotation? Cabrera is so overrated. He's a dickhead and has had defensive miscues that have led to huge innings for the opposition (some were called errors and others were mysteriously hits. I guess the box didn't want to deal with him over the phone.) His OBP isn't very good and his double totals are down. Despite the .270ish average, he currently leads the AL in total outs. Cabrera has been a flop. I'm sorry, but to say "flop" is unbelievably stupid. Look at his career averages. What did KW expect? He's having a solid year, batting lead off on a new team. I think we got exactly what we expected. Swish on the other hand...
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) So you think a guy going into the FA market is gonna come off as a jerkoff on camera in the dugout. The dude just seems like a strange bird for some reason. That being said...I'd take him at 24M for 3 years....but no more than that. The guy's a good player no matter how strange he is... Hahahahah, who ISN'T a strange bird on the White Sox?
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) Scott Merkin, Mark Gonzales, everyone on the Score I've heard those guys reporting on the situation. Cowley is the only one who first expressed that he personally hated OC, then proceeded to announce that everyone else hated him too. Sounds like a one-sided battle to me. Whatever- if the Sox can get a ring out of this line-up, and everyone goes their seperate ways...thats fine with me. Not every player is a great fit on every team.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) BTW, it's not just Joe Cowley who has said that OC is hated in the clubhouse. Yes Dye was at fault, but I guarantee you he doesn't flip out like that if it was someone like Swisher. Really? Who else said that? All I see is him laughing and doing funny handshakes in the dugout. Hate is a pretty strong word.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) or by looking at Jermaine Dye blowing up on him about something stupid. I think we can all agree that JD was at fault on that. No? And both handled it well once it was over.
  17. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) Cabrera seems to be one of the more animated guys in the post homerun and victory celebrations Alexei looks like pure death after he hits homeruns in the dugout. Of course, based on his production, we dont fault him for it. Since Alexei is emotionless (visibly) during most games, are we to believe he doesnt want to be on the team? I wouldnt make that jump, and I dont know that we can make that jump regarding OC either. They're just different personalities. We cant purport to know what they're thinking, as much fun as it might be. I totally agree with this. Watching how much fun OC has with his team doesn't jive with the media attention he has garnered in Chicago. WHich leads me to believe that the media attention isn't warranted.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) Erstad actually seemed like he wanted to play for this team. Cabrera does not. I want to know why people think he's so pompous? Or that he doesn't want to play here? Because a winner like Joe Cowley said so?
  19. QUOTE (sox1844 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Who knows? Seems like there was more to that than we saw. He's usually really aggressive. Anybody hear him taking it back? Hahahah, he gets everyone all fired up that it was OC's fault, then blames Lexi. WTF?
