  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) If that's not a catch, I don't know what a catch is anymore. He had the ball in his hands, tucked it, took 2 steps, rotated in the air, fell on his back and then the ball popped out. WTF. Agreed. I'm not sure how he didn't have control of that. He took two steps with it and fell to the ground. I can understand the OBJ call since he really didn't have time to make a move after he caught it, but this call just baffled me.
  2. I'm not sure how OBJ doesn't have a concussion after that hit.
  3. Detroit's going to lose after being up 21-3 on San Diego.
  4. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 05:06 PM) It is sad that Winston will catch all the headlines when the real headlines should be how bad Lovie's defense is. Totally unprepared. Giving up 4 TDs to a rookie QB in one half...yeah that's unacceptable.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) Jameis first pass was a pick 6 He just got picked again. Man he's bad right now.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) Man Manning is going to get killed this year. I don't know that this won't be his last. It looks like he's got almost nothing behind his throws.
  7. At least the Bears will be somewhat watchable this year. I thought we were going to get blown out by the second quarter.
  8. lol that's what the Cubs get for throwing Fernando Rodney out there.
  9. That Cardinals lineup looks...bad. They really need Holliday back for the playoffs.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 07:58 AM) Iceland has qualified for the 2016 Euros already. From a group featuring Netherlands, Czech Republic and Turkey. That is awesome. Netherlands might not qualify...that team's really fallen off after the WC.

Mr. Robot season finale was a complete mindf***. Can't wait for season 2.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) A writer for a small website speculated that the Bulls should trade for Rudy Gay. That led to all these Facebook/Twitter posts reading "BREAKING: Bulls pursuing trade for Rudy Gay." My point is, if you see anything like that, don't believe it; it's all speculation. That being said, Gibson and McDermott for Gay- who says no? Steve (from this forum) once started a rumor that Rose will return sometime in January of the first year he got injured and that blew up lol
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) “In May 2013, according to the lawsuit, the woman said she traveled to Chicago with Rose and that they went to dinner with a friend “at his house after the game he played in ended.” Rose, however, missed the entire the 2012-13 season with an injury and, consequently, did not play in May.” You'd think the lawyer would fact-check something so simple like that.

QUOTE (SnB @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 09:36 AM) I think I'm going to replace my yearly FIFA purchase with madden this year. I haven't bought madden in about 5 years. Anyone get it this year? Yup, pretty good so far. Game looks better, new catch animations and defender actions are interesting, if not a bit over-powered. I'll also be getting FIFA though. I'm gonna give EA a lot of money this year...
  15. Arrieta went from failed prospect to one of the best pitchers in baseball. I'm wondering how he's throwing 96 when he was averaging 92-93 in Baltimore to start his ML career.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) If he accepts, it also means he's on the team next year. He better improve. His peripherals aren't as bad as his ERA and with how bad the Sox defense is, I'm inclined to believe it. He might not be the guy we traded for, but $15 million for a #3 on a 1 year deal is something a lot of teams would covet in the current market.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) My point was that he's a longtime Sox pitcher who has been overall average due to those good seasons and his below average seasons now; and he is definitely not the most hated player in White Sox history. He's closer to most beloved player in Sox history than most hated. Yeah I'm not sure how you can really hate Danks. He pitched the blackout game and was a huge reason why the Sox made the playoffs in 2008. He's not worth his contract anymore, but you can't hate the guy for underperforming because of a major injury. Either way, Danks is probably going to be a major league average pitcher this year by fWAR (he's around 1.5 WAR right now). If you would have told me that at the beginning of the season, I would have been pretty satisfied.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:14 PM) If Samardzija actually wants to cash in, he should bet on himself and sign a one-year contract with the Sox or somebody. I guess it's possible the Sox will make the qualifying offer, and he'll accept it...or I could be wrong. He's terrible and I hope he's somewhere else next year. There's no way the Sox won't give him a QO. He's going to net us a comp pick. If he accepts, the $13-14 million he'll get is fair market value. If not, we get a draft pick. Win-win.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) i am a danks fan and thank you for posting that. it was an injury that derailed him. I still think that deal we gave him was the right move at the time and I'm sure a lot of posters on this forum will agree with that. In hindsight, it sucks and maybe the Sox should have been a bit more observant of how poorly he pitched in the last month of 2011. Still, Danks got a fair market value contract for the pitcher he was at the time, which was a solid #2 or #3 left handed starter. Buehrle got less money, but he was also a lot older. If the injury didn't happen, the Danks deal would have worked out better than the Buehrle deal.
  20. So is there even an incentive for the Sox to actually try and re-sign Samardzija at this point? He's shown he's nothing more than a middle of the rotation starter this year and he's going to be 31 next year. I'm not sure I'd bother to offer him anything worth more than a QO on a annual basis for 3-4 years. Even with the current free agency market, that might be a fair deal for him given how poorly he's pitched this year.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) John Danks has been an average pitcher for us for 9 years. The only reason he's disliked now, in year 9, is because of his contract. Danks has been average to below average this year. If it wasn't for his shoulder problems, he could have been one of the better Sox pitchers of the past decade. He was absolutely money in 2008 and had 4 seasons where he put up 3.7 WAR per season on average.
  22. If you ask non-Sox fans: AJ If you ask Sox fans: Navarro, Belle, Swisher, etc.
  23. QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) I suspect we've already had a non-religious president or three. Even today, it's political suicide as a national politician to admit you don't believe in God. Those days are rapidly closing, though. As to the original question, I consider myself agnostic. No one know what happens when you die, but if I had to guess it's like going to sleep indefinitely. I'm pretty sure Obama is not actually religious. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but like you said, in the political world, if you're anything that's not a Christian denomination or Jewish, you're screwed.
  24. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) Non-religious. I wouldn't consider Bill Maher a particularly good advocate for nonbelief though. Bill Maher is an awful athiest. As an athiest, I hate people who go out there and make fun of other people's religions and make it seem like they're all inferior people. Maher's one of those guys. You're not going to get religious people to change their minds. If they do, it's not because you yelled at them and told them they're stupid.

Saw Straight Outta Compton and liked it a lot. I thought the casting was great and as someone who really didn't know much about NWA, it was fascinating.
