The Cubs have a couple of good arms in Arrieta and Hendricks. There's also a chance Jackson stops putting up a 6 ERA when he figures it out again. Lester would give them 4 good arms. He won't make them an instant contender, but that would be a decent rotation.

Remember when Scherzer was actually traded for Edwin Jackson? Then we overpaid for Jackson a year later? And then we traded him away for peanuts the year after that?

So Mirotic is playing extremely well and McDermott is a benchwarmer. I think we all said at the beginning of the season that if just one of the 2 turns into something valuable, then we'd be fine. I really want to see McDermott succeed, but he really hasn't shown much outside of one or two games. But then again, someone who gets maybe 5-6 minutes a game will have a hard time truly showcasing his talent.
